The Great Football Match

This weekend on Saturday 24th November at Horseshoe Point kicking off at 2.00 p.m. there will be a Football game like no other when Jameson’s Casuals take on the BCCT Casuals for the Jameson's Football Challenge Cup. This is to be a casual game in all respects, rolling subs, which means each team can have as many substitutes they want, once a person comes off he can go back on again, and if somebody wants to they can go and play for the other team (if this happens please do not forget to change shirts, otherwise it will get really confusing!). The game will be played in 3, 20 minute thirds, as even with rolling subs at our age it can become a little tiring in this heat. The referee's will be obeyed at all times, as will the Managers that is Greg Watkins for the Bangkok team, and Kim Fletcher with his trustee assistant Brian Abbott for Pattaya. The Prize Giving will be back in Jameson's "about'' 6 o' clock ready for everybody to settle down and watch the Premiership for the evening. Jameson's will be providing one keg of beer from the Pattaya side, and Bangkok will be providing another, so it is free beer until it runs out for all those that played and their spouses until it runs out. To make the free beer last as long as possible it will only be served in halves. Jameson's will also provide light bar snacks. Anyone wishing to have a kick about should contact Kim at Jameson's or Greg in Bangkok.

Kim Fletcher, Ian (Lady Di) Harrington The Executive, Junior, Deputy, Assistant, Trainee Manager and Stuart Daly Pattaya's leading Estate Agent, surprisingly this week Stuart is the one dressed in pink. What a little Chocolate Soldier he is!

Terry Schofield "Of No Fixed Abode", Jason Payne he of the immaculate haircuts and Johnnie Live he that creates immaculate haircuts. Lurking in the background is Electric Bike Paul

The weekend before the big game before the big game between the Jameson's Casuals and the B.C.C.T. Casuals was one of planning and scheming including many discreet telephone calls. Unfortunately the only money to pass hands was that of players wishing NOT to be picked and trying to buy there way out of embarrassment on the field. But no mercy was given by the coaching staff. In fact poor Pete Mewes found himself on both team sheets. The Assistant Manager of the Jameson's Casuals Brian Abbott, whilst away playing in the Jimmy Howard Football Tournament in Manila (As Ever A Great Success), has had to be fired as he sent an e-mail before traveling to the Philippines listing the provisional list of players for the Jameson's side and forgot to mention The Player/Coach/Manager’s name a certain Mr. Kim Fletcher, so Brain has now been relegated to the bench (but perhaps that was his plan all along. Anybody wanting a game of football for either side should contact Kim, Brian, or Greg before kick off at 2.00 p.m. on Saturday 24th November, oh we do not stand on ceremony here. Horseshoe Point do a very good job of providing beer (60 baht a can) plus numerous soft drinks during the game, and the swimming pool is available for those that fancy a quick dip after the game (after a brief shower of course). Then to the serious end of the evening where we dispatch ourselves to Jameson's for the presentation of the Jameson's Football Challenge Cup, and the consumption of two Heineken Kegs of Beer, one of which will be provided by the good old B.C.C.T and one by Jameson's, this beer is for the players and their partners only, and will start to be served once one of the team Captains arrive, first come first served. All the beer will be served in half pints to make it last longer and no substitutes, if you drink Guinness, you will have to put your own hand in your pocket. Jameson's will also supply some light nibbles to keep every body going until the Premiership Football starts, all the games will be played on the Jameson's screens, so if your favorite team is playing it will be on a screen somewhere . If you can hear the soundtrack if you can hear it above Lee telling you for the 20th time how he nearly scored that wonder goal or Dobsy's excuses for how he missed that hatful of sitters!

Loads of good people in the bar over the weekend, Johny Live, Jason Payne, Rony Fineman, whose Supper Club around the corner from Jameson's has had it's soft opening with 30% discount at the moment, eating in bed is great. The -5 Ice Bar is not quite cold enough yet but should open 1st December the idea at the moment is for the pricing to be 500 baht for half an hour all you can drink after the first night with people like Sam Peebles, Malcolm Clare, the newly returned Party boy, Ray Matti, and a few other visiting on the first night the prices could of course be revised (dramatically). Paul (Faulty) and Golf Peter, always good to see Graham MacDonald, Graham Woo and Family, Peter (Papa) and Family, Vince, Stuart, Ning, Linda, and Jed Daly (always worth their weight in gold in laughter), Straff, Denis and Lek, the always smiling Steve Graham, Joe Grunwell, Gregarious Greg, Simon and Debbie, Muffy from the Jesters, Rob and Wit, Mike and Meow, Steve, Chicken Nick, Chris and Jenny, the lovely Shelley and Eoin Quirke, Graham Watkins, Dean, Gregarious Greg, American Mike, Ashley, Sam Peebles, Motorbike Shaun, Jimmy, the infamous Bryant's Rick, Harpic, Jake, Paige and Abbi.

Billy (Kidney Wiper), Sheal and family enjoy the Fish and Chips on Friday night

In Scotland if it put in front of you, you eat it. Reminder to everybody never stands in front of a Scots man

The latest craze in Jameson's is the Irish Fajitas which was started by Jimmy, now you have flying Fajitas being carried all over the bar.

Many Thanks to Dr. Iain Corness as ever for all his help.
By the time you read this Iris and Tony Ritchie will have arrived, so watch out.
The new Jameson's run by John Bell under the Holiday Inn on Silom Road is going from strength to strength, if you like the Jameson's in Pattaya, and why should you not? Jameson's Bangkok is a breathe of Pattaya in Bangkok. The Jameson's is going very well I only hear good things so go and find out yourself, of course it has it's own website, of which a direct link can be found on the side of this page.
After the rigours of football all afternoon though on Saturday 24th November there is also the delight of Wales vs. South Africa on the telly at 09.30 p.m. Mike Watkins has already booked out the library area to firmly make a little bit of Jameson's Welsh for the night. We will of course have to do a bit of juggling with the screens to keep everybody happy, but the soundtrack will be on the rugby if anybody notices by that time at night!
Tony and Iris Ritchie have arrived which brings joy and happiness to every corner of the bar. Mike Franklin and Family have been wizzing round as usual, whilst it has also been nice to see Paul Strachan munching away happily on his grub.

Oh how it all goes wrong. Here we have Jason Payne, Ian Harrington and Terry Schofield (The Cheese Eater), all having a lovely time and into our midst comes "Faulty". Naturally panic ensued and any sense of normality, such as we know it in Jameson's did not return until the arrival of The Root of All Evil, Mr. Malcolm Clare

Peter Jameson's very own Golf Professional who had to go out and teach Motorbike Shaun a lesson or two at golf, but soon found that was beyond anybodies capabilities, (even the Fat Landlord's), Electric Bike Paul, and the Fat Landlord himself

Lurch and Bob enjoy a drink

Two Boro fans Paul Dobbs and Brian Abbott with the Fat Landlord Kim Fletcher, the only time probably any of them will have their hands on the Jameson’s Cup

Lasagne on Thursday Night is really becoming the talk of Nova Table with a certain Peter demanding to be served the Thursday Special of Lasagne, on Friday as it was so good, fortunately we were able to oblige.

There will of course be a full review of the Grand Opening Party for Jameson's Bangkok in next week's diary, that is of course if we all survive, there is a fair contingent of people from the Pattaya brigade going to share a pint with the new guys, including The Executive, Junior, Trainee, Deputy, Pattaya, Manager Lady Di, Malcolm Clare "The Root of All Evil", Jason "The Soothsayer" Payne, plus the usual suspects from Bangkok, the way plans are going at the moment with a planned meet up at 6.30 p.m. We might not make 9.00 p.m.
Have a good week, Kim, Rony and Moo.

As you can see "The Root of All Evil Arrives", and suddenly Ian (Lady Di) Harrington is happily smiling again

Pattaya's version of the beautiful people Meow, Nigel, Steve, and Mike. Seriously that is the best we can do

A nice full bar on a Saturday night with my mate Jimmy keeping order
