A Wonderful 51st Birthday for Kim Fletcher

Where can I start to say thank you to everybody who came to my Birthday Celebrations over the weekend? To be honest I cannot as they went on for so many days, and so many hours each day that it would be impossible to thank everybody properly. So a great big thank you to everybody from Rodney Bain's who took Simon Edmonds, Graham Macdonald, and myself out for dinner on Sunday (without even going himself), to Stuart and Straff who I left singing in the pub on Monday morning about 2 o'clock. In the meantime here are some pictures of the great time that was had by all.

Stuart Daly stops singing for a moment as he takes a quick slurp

Those that seem to have completely escaped the photos were Harpic Bryant, who made the Landlord go very weak at the knees by singing him a personnel version of Happy Birthday, from which he might never recover, Terry Schofield of No fixed abode, Ian (Thanks for the Card). All the Triumphant Kiwi supporters, Andy McTighe, and many more. See you at the bar, Kim.

Grunwell races to the top

Thailand ‘s James Grunwell has moved to the top of the Formula BMW Asia circuit standings after four eventful races last weekend at the Sentul Circuit in Indonesia.

Racing for Team Meritus, Grunwell won one of the races, came second in two and was disqualified in the last race due to a team technical infringement.

Despite the disappointment in the last race, Grunwell, a young English man who is based in Bangkok, did enough to head the overall driver classification standings.

He now has 401 points, just two ahead of Jazeman Jaafar of Malaysia, while Indonesia’s Zahir Ali is third with 379 points.

Grunwell won the third race of the weekend in an exciting tussle with Jaafar.

A delighted Grunwell also set the fastest lap.
“I have a new technique of the line, which seems to be working,” said Grunwell. “I knew I had to be just ahead enough to keep Jazeman out of my tow.”

Grunwell’s good form has also helped put Thailand into second place in the Nation’s Cup on 87 points, with Malaysia leading on 95 points.

The next four races will be held at the brand new race track in Chengdu, China on September 15-16.

Cheers, see you at the Bar
