Diary No. 91 Week of 16th October 2006 - 22nd October 2006 Updated 26th October 2006
Another week slips by, with so many things happening that you wonder where to start. Posh Pete Woolston arrived, taking hundreds of photos which as you can see I have not managed to get my hands on yet, so they will have to wait for another day. A group of us went up to the Rugby Dinner at the Conrad Hotel in Bangkok last Thursday which turned into a fantastic day out. The Pattaya brigade was led by the newly retired Jimmy Howard, who did a splendid job of getting us the best table in the house and ensuring that everybody got to the right place at the right time. Not of course before we had spent a few hours in the famous Jools Bar in Soi 4 Bangkok, many old acquaintances were renewed and a good time was had by all. Malcolm Clare 'The Root of All Evil' joined us at the hotel arriving with Andrew, as ever with Malcolm things soon got in the swing of things. Our company was completed by Mike Watkins, and side kick Nigel, and extraordinarily my old friend Kevin from Bahrain who I have literally not seen for seventeen years, an admirable man, arriving in Pattaya on the Wednesday evening upon hearing of the rugby dinner decided to join us, after arriving back in Bangkok and reminiscing with Eric Rush the New Zealand All Black guest speaker, and putting in a large bid for one of the charity auctioned photos then decides it's job done at the dinner and decides to head back to Pattaya, we then see him every night of his short holiday when he flew out on Tuesday of course completely forgetting to pick up the photo he had bought and paid for! If anybody sees a chap called Kevin in seventeen years time wandering around the pub please press the large cricket photo behind the Carvery into his hands. Splendid trip Kevin. In his short stay with us Kevin introduced two new sayings around the Nova "Rehab is for quitters" and "Rap music is spelt with a silent C".

The following day was one of the main golfing events of the Pattaya Golfing year in the TQ Masters. The Landlord actually got a cheer for turning up. The Dream Team of course led the field off as usual, led by Jack Levy, with Kurt Farnham, Ernie Bakke, and a very bedraggled Landlord. An excellent day out in fact I can safely say that this years TQ Masters was amongst one of the best ever. So very big Thank you and well done to everybody concerned.
Back to the pub for a weekend of trying to catch ones breathe Nova Table was it's usual busy self with visits from all of the above, and Lady Di who now has his own special chair, his side kick Mark Stubbs.

The Bryant's have been on the rampage this week all of them Rick, Harpic, Jake, Paige and Abby. Ray Matti and Fiancé Curly Wurly have been away on a Lomantic (obviously a Dutch word) holiday, but will be back this weekend, and it's Curly Wurly's Birthday next Friday 3rd November. So put a note in your diary where to be next Friday night as starting next Friday off will be the first of our Fashion Shows featuring hair, nails, and accessories. Then it's Curly's Birthday with Pop's Pattaya All Stars providing the music, in what should turn out to be one of Pattaya's historic nights. Then on Saturday we will have for your viewing pleasure the first of the North vs. South International Rugby games to feature this winter, as well as a full football and cricket schedule, please look at the schedule in next week's diary for the times.
Jimmy and Jenny Howard have set sail for a month in Canada. The Quirke's, Eoin and Shelley, and the Watkins, Graham and Ung are back from Vietnam, and with Simon Quigley arriving back this Friday expect plenty of fireworks, thankfully Quigley has missed Baker by a week so with a little luck the Landlord will not be turned upside down again. Always good to see Alex and Nit Woods with Kay. The Font of All Knowledge Mr. Graham MacDonald, John "JK" and Tai Kennedy with the lovely Ice made a surprise appearance, Geordies Darren and Chris, Sam Peebles, representing Jameson's this Saturday in the inter society golf tournament will be Simon Philbrook, Rich Wibrow, Jason Payne, and from North Shore Real Estate Terry Schofield, the result of which I may or may not tell you about next week! KC of Town and Country, Andy McTighe, PJ, Jim Gilmore has also left for the States for three months but will be back. Iris Ritchie is due in any day, Andrew Watts. If you want to plan way ahead Zorba and Crouchy will be celebrating their birthdays at Jameson's in February. Regents Patrick was into watch the cricket, Sid Silk in his boxing telling way ducking and weaving. Buster Williamson, Dai Coe will be here for Christmas. Had a very nice e-mail from Ian and Pat Dickson. Fini from the Hash House Harriers, Mark and Helen Betteridge en route to Singapore, Iain and Som Corness, in to watch the end of the Formula One season with the usual gang. This was on at the same time as The Reading Football Club Supporters Group Pattaya (North and South combined). Gathered to watch the Mighty Reading play a local derby against another team well supported in Pattaya Arsenal. Shell shocked we were. Personally I blame this change of fortune on the fact that we have combined the two supporters groups thereby confusing our players. Never mind Reading have avoided being on the big screen this weekend and we always seem to do better when us lot really do not know what is going on! The Speckled Martin and Nang have been constant visitors to the bar and pool tables. Johnnie Live has been dashing around the bar as usual. Stuart, Moo, Sophie, and Jamie. Johnnie Fox of Q Cars caused his usual sensations. Matt the Wig along with Jack, Sean and Golf. The Franklins have been as busy as ever. Monkey and Sylvia who have been instrumental in getting our fashion weeks going, many thanks to the pair of you Fashion has never been a strong point with the Landlord. Neil Sandilands has finally got his wish of cold beer by going to work in the Artic circle.
Enough from me, See you at the bar, Kim.

Cheers, see you at the Bar.
Kim
