Kim Fletcher's famous weekly pub diaries at Jameson's started with the first publication Wednesday, January 26th, 2005.  Each Thursday night, local time, a new diary will be uploaded for your viewing pleasure.

Diary No. 101 Week of 25th December 2006 - 31st December 2006 Updated 4th January 2007

After a storming Christmas, a fantastic New Year. As usual it was a mixture of organized and disorganized chaos. But as I have said a million times before it is the people in the pub that make it so great. And there we start with such an advantage. Ian Harrington (Lady Di) our Deputy, Junior, Trainee, Assistant Manager has done more than sterling job over the whole year and was a riot of activity over the New Year festivities. His right hand man and accomplice Mark Stubbs has sorted out more than a few computer problems. John Hagan has made us concentrate more on the diary, even though I thought last weeks was a definite '10' over the New Year frolic's one person who took it very seriously indeed was Neil Sandilands who took raspberries to a new level, if you get a faint aroma of raspberries in Pattaya you know that Neil cannot be far away. Other people seen over doing it just a tad were the sadly returning to England Dai Coe, the mighty Ray Matti and Curly Wurly these two really do not know when to stop, mind you can say that about most, Kimo, and Nid, Lorenzo, Jeremy Quinn, Robert and Simon who gleefully led Kevin Fisher's Boxing Day celebrations without him. Stuart, Moo, Sophie, and James.

Kevin Fisher’s Table enjoying Boxing Day without Kevin!!!

The next major event at Jameson's will be Stuart and Moo's Tenth Anniversary bash, combined with Moo's Birthday Party, which will be on Monday 15th January. Then after that on Monday 29th January, The Hash House Harriers Running Club will be holding their AGM at Jameson's. Under Grand Master Patrick the Flying Frog and previous Grand Master Ian (Lady Di) Harrington. We have been honoured by the company of the Well Respected Peter Malhotra over the New Year. We welcome back with open arms Graham MacDonald and Jay (Mr. and Mrs. Font of All Knowledge) after although being marvellously entertained by Ian and Pat Dickson, had to go through the torrid time of being in Australia whilst the England Cricket team disgraced themselves. The Jameson's Malaka's could have done a better job, even with the Landlord bowling. Once again Thank you to all my Australian friends for keeping me up to date with the score, and for Graham who kept a stiff upper lip throughout. On the subject of sport. After having to handle both Chelsea and Manchester United, the mighty Reading let out their frustrations on West Ham winning 6-0. Ron Keeley does have a word for Steve though along the lines of it was pushing it a bit on the last 3 goals surely 3-0 would have been enough. Rich Wibrow has been a constant inspiration to the partying brigade, as has Stuart Daly. A man who stands alone is Johnnie Live partying hard in Jameson's all over Christmas and New Year. An absolute pleasure to see Peter (no longer Gin and Tonic) Woolston in the bar over the New Year. Philbrook's all Jim, Frances, Simon, and Debbie.

Fantastic to see Geoff Evans, but as always sad to see him leave again. The Quigley's Simon, Nin, and Anne, The loveable Quirkes Eoin and Shelley, Superman himself Graham Watkins and the lovely Ung, Payne's, all of them Jason, and Nui, plus Mum and Dad, led by Leo, the expected new year arrival of the Scud, The Gang from Canuckville, The Drader's Leopards, and the Millers who did an impressive job on the Keg of Heineken that Anne won in the Jinger Bens Tournament just before Christmas, Big Dave from Nova Park, and the family from the valleys Kim and Nin. Mosquito Bill Johnstone an all, Dennis and Lek, Ian and Wee, Rob and Wit, Motorbike Shaun, Sam Peebles, Nick, Top Table Joules, Jason, still waiting for Jenny. Rony and Dang Fineman (Mr. and Mrs. Nova). The Bryant's all Rick, Harpic, Jake, Paige, and Abby, still waiting on the pickled onions, but I suppose it is only fair for the Philbrook's and Bryant's to be in at the same time and with the amount of flying around Rick is doing, that might be a while yet. Ken and Jackie have settled in nicely around Nova Table, and it was nice to see Speckled Martin and Nang, David Garred (who did not mention the cricket once, a million times yes once no), Andrew Watts. Regards to Bryan Chitty and Glyn from Hong Kong, going one better was Mark who was in Jameson's, Jack and Jin Levy, Terry Schofield who won the T&A Trophy and then promptly gave up smoking, beer, and junk food. Good Luck to you Terry, Andy McTighe we wish you better luck in the T&A Championship Golf next year. Sorry the diary is a day late this week, this was initially my fault not Moo's.
Have a great 2007, Kim, Rony, and Moo.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007

Kim,
Have sent this as an email, which you can cut and pasted if you wish.
Preparations for the 4 Hour Endurance race at the Bira circuit on January 7are in full swing. There are 30 teams entered, and I will be competing in one of the Pizza Company Vios race cars, with some help from AA Insurance Brokers Peter Smith and Malcolm Scorer, my personal sponsors. My Geriatric Car has four drivers, (Bill Heinecke - yes, THE Bill Heinecke, Paul Kenny - Aussie resident in Bangkok, Michael Freeman - Aussie resident in Pattaya and myself Dr. Iain - sort of Aussie resident in Jameson's) and our ages total 236! However, I am a great believer in Age, Experience and Animal Cunning as being able to overcome Youth and Enthusiasm. The lead Vios car will have Jan Magnusson, the Danish ex-Formula 1 driver on board, along with the winner of the Thailand Vios series Jack Lemvard (Thai-Danish), Thomas Raldorf (Danish) and Martin Stuvik (Norwegian). This vehicle is on track for outright honours, but in endurance racing, anything can happen.
Like the Geriatric Car could even win. In fact, I will be going to see Dusit Dave Garred at the Dusit Sports Club three times a week to get fit.
After one session I now know where every muscle in my body is, as they are all begging for mercy, bust dastardly Dave won't give it!
The race has attracted Natavude, the Thailand champion, teamed with "Pete" Tongjua, the TV soapie star, plus anyone else that can get his backside into a Vios. It will be a great 'picnic' race meeting, so come along and enjoy four hours of endurance racing.
The Doc! (AKA Dr. Iain)

Hi Kim, Merry Christmas to you and all your friends, patrons and fellow swally merchants. I see you are going from strength to strength and your website is the business! Couldn’t help but see a certain gentleman called Mark Stubbs on the site this week. He and I are old friends from Sizewell B construction back in about 1993 where we lived, worked and drank a lot together in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. The altime classic memory was “Stubbsy” doing a wheely down Aldeburgh High Street on his GSXR750, in all about a half a mile on one wheel at 70mph, classic. Give him my best regards. Since when did he become a computer expert?

All the best from Bahrain and hope to meet up with you once again in Pattaya,

All the best to all our dear friends in Pattaya.

Andy & Wendy Doherty.
