New
Jameson's opens in Bangkok
Jameson's
Pattaya now has a twin pub in Bangkok, the
new Jameson's is built under the Holiday Inn,
and is run by my old running mate John Bell. It had
its soft opening on Monday, and was immediately full
of happy bouncing people, a sign of more fun times to come. The whole
concept is the same as Jameson's in Pattaya,
good food, plenty of fun, and the odd drink or two. So now you know
if in Bangkok or Pattaya you can bend
an elbow at good old Jameson's.

Well as you
can tell from John Hagan's cruel cruel marking down
of the last couple of websites, the fat old Landlord Kim Fletcher
has been a little lax on the website diaries for a while, well that
is thankfully, because we have all been rather busy, and the next week
seems to roll round so quickly that I hardly have time to draw breathe,
let alone write a diary, mine you my natural laziness does not help!

After the Cuel Golf Tournament on Saturday a
fair few of us won new golf bags (including the Landlord, we all had
a few drinks and stood back and admired the new bags
|

Our man Kid, with the new Tiger girl and the
new Strongbow girl, this photo was only taken to let Scud know that
our standards are not slipping

The buzz round the bar and table at the moment
is the introduction of the new 'Nibble' menu, little
tasty bite size dishes, that you can tuck into during the evening to
keep you going, I must thank Graham MacDonald for prompting
me on for this, an idea well worth following, so the next time your
in the pub and are a bit puckish, but not hungry enough for a full meal
have a little look at the 'Nibbles' menu.

Last Saturday
was one of the better days around first of all it was an early start
out to the wonderful Pattana Golf Course for the CUEL
Invitational Golf Classic, 216 people hacking their way round
the 27 holes, the weather was perfect, (as the Landlord's
sunburn will attest too) and the organization fantastic, well done to
all those involved especially head man Steve Hofi.
Then it was all back to Jameson's, for a few relaxing
tipples, and a lot of self congratulations, as you can see from the
photos quite a few of us won magnificent prizes, and will soon be proudly
parading round the links with brand new golf bags. Then all chaos ensued
as The Unquenchables rugby team hit town, led as ever
by Dennis Collard, the combination of golf and rugby
in Jameson's on one night was quite a spectacular vision.
The last one's seen leaving the bar was at 11 o'clock
on Sunday morning
their identity will be hidden to protect the innocent. (Well not so
innocent really)
The bar and Nova Table have been as busy as they have
ever been with lots of the usual lovely suspects Dennis and
Lek, Rob and Wit, Mike Watkins and Meow, Paul and Joy, Derek, Steve,
Graham Woo and family, Dangerous Dave, Geoff Evans was able
to drop in and see us accompanied by Steve, yet again
Geoff was kind enough to bring us some new DVD's one
of which David Gilmour live at the Royal Albert
Hall, I am listening too and watching whilst I write, always
good to have a laugh and swap stories with Geoff, hope
you get back soon mate. Paul Dobbs (Dobsy) is booked
into the Nova Park so is in most nights, always bringing
a smile to the face, although the argument still rages between Dobsy
and Brian Abbot who is the best Farang Manager in Thailand,
Kim Fletcher or Rick Bryant, the answer is quite obvious really.
Mind you congratulations where they are due Pattaya City
had another good win last week, which is more than can be said for that
team that play in blue and white hoops, still here we are with another
weekend of fixtures before us, I'm sure Steve will
be able to pull something out of the bag so that the staff can all have
a drink again on Saturday night. Stuart Daly
has become a staple figure of Saturday nights, (no
I do not mean that we use a staple gun and fix him to Nova Table,
well not a lot of staples anyway). Stuart's Mum and Dad Linda
and Jed will be coming over soon, so the little Chocolate
Soldier has nothing to worry about. Stuart
the builder has been in a few times with his mum and of course his delightful
wife Moo. A nice surprise this week was that Ian
Harrington (Lady Di) is down working Pattaya
way this week so we were able to see him during the week and have the
old Waldorf and Sattler team together of Mark
Stubbs and Lady Di. Johnny Live has been rushing around as
usual. Mike Franklin and family are often in for a
few wines and nibbles, Mike running round organizing
the Diana Gold Golf competition, and it is also the
Can-Am this weekend, golf tournaments every which way
but loose. Captain Steve is now firmly ensconced as
a central figure around Nova Table. Simon and Debbie
commandeered the library area on Saturday night and
had their own little party in there, I'm sure they only did it to make
the Landlord walk round more. At least it gave a nice
little home for Richard and Maggie Waller, and Graham
Macdonald! Ray Matti has gone back to being Captain
Ray and can at the moment be found scooting round lakes up
North. The Root of all Evil Malcolm Clare
struck again this weekend this time concocting a new cocktail called
the Moonpool in honor of Big Dave Johnson,
but quite why the Landlord had to drink it I'm not
sure! The Root will again be down this weekend hopefully
to explain himself. Always good to see Jason Payne
and really nice to see the Keeley's Ron, Weaw and James. The
Pattaya Division of the Baker's and Bryant's has been reduced
by two as Mum and Dad Bruce and Marion have gone back
to England, but you would of thought that would of
helped quiet things down, but no it's like they have gone to heaven
and hell Rick, Harpic, Jake, Paige and Abbi are the
same as ever. Jimmy and Jenni Howard as well as Graham
and Ung Watkins, with all time favorites Eoin and Shelley
Quirke.
|
Sam Peebles as ever has been
leading the in-crowd around not that he does not have a lot of help,
what with the Deakon's Jimmy, Brian and John, then
there is Shaun, Darren from the Lazi Pig who turned
up on Saturday with Lee and the staff
from the Lazi Pig and the rest. Sam
is always out for the best of everything, company, food, and drink,
that is why he comes to Jameson's. End of story. Peter
(Papa) has taken over the central area of the bar during the
daytime and is thankfully keeping a firm eye on Tracy.
Ingrid our very own Tooth Fairy from Melbourne
brought some pretty girls into watch the Melbourne Cup
and drink champagne and strawberries, very posh, but also great fun.
But to the future Christmas is coming rushing up round
the very next month and I know it all sounds like the same old spiel,
but we really do have a lot of bookings already (all of them so far
repeat bookings which is always a good sign). The menu is the same as
last year, and the same price now you cannot say better than that. BUT
please make your bookings early to avoid disappointment, and we really
do every year get people coming in on Boxing Day saying
oh "We wish We had been here with you". So accept no substitute,
get booked in with us.

The Unquenchables arrive Sam Peebles took over Nova Table on Saturday
night after the Cuel Golf Tournament

Tony and
Iris Ritchie will be at Nova Table by the
time you read next week's diary, and there is a whisper in the wind
that Ian Brown will also be here next weekend. Big
Dave will be coming down on Sunday, but now
he has had the latest operation to make him slim he should not be too
much trouble, as he can only eat about one teaspoon of lean meat, and
a couple of leaves. Alcohol being out the question these days I reckon
the Landlord can keep him quiet in the corner.
Remember that Sunday is remberance Sunday Poppies
are on sale in Jameson's and the proceeds will be collected
by Bert from Tropical Bert's on behalf of the British
Legion on Sunday, so I shall expect all of you to be wearing
Poppies on Friday and Saturday.
Have a fantastic week. Take care and see you at the bar. Kim,
Rony and Moo.
