New
Diaries are uploaded around midnight on Thursday, local time,
here in Pattaya by the Landlord Kim Fletcher.
Diary No. 252 Week of 1st February
2010 - 7th February 2010 Updated 11th February 2010
Whilst
I've not been standing working in the kitchen this week (Chinese
New Year and all that) I've been dashing home to read
the fantastic new book by our friend Dan Dorothy The Editor
in Chief of The Pattaya Mail. Well he is Dan
Dorothy to us, or under his writing name Daniel
M. Dorothy, or to a certain contingent 'Toto'.
The Book is called 'Mango Rains' and is one of
the best books have ever read on Thailand and
also one of the Best Thrillers I have ever read, I could barely
tear myself away from it. It quite incredible to think that it
is Dan's first Novel. It's a real page turner
and has made me late for work on more than one occasion. I insist
that everybody goes up to Bookazine and gets
themselves a copy. You will not regret it.

Well The Sometime Magnificent
Seven from Geordie land have been wrecking Havoc in
every single area of the Pub this week, Mine you they have often
been the Super Six, sometimes the Famous
Five, sometimes the Fantastic Four
and once the Three Musketeers, But I think
as their numbers start to whittle down this week that Big
Mark, Mark, Lanky, Colin, Alan, Davey and Angus have
had a good vacation they have certainly learnt what it's like
to be Stephen Page 24/7.
This weekend is a bit short on Football on
the Telly being an F.A Cup weekend, but there
is still a full Six Nations Rugby schedule, please check our
sports schedule for this weekend's sport on the Telly. Of course
F.C Nova have a game on Saturday
and will be back on Saturday night after this
week's game to tell us about their exploits. There is also a
fabulous schedule of Polo this weekend at Polo
Escape just out beyond Phoenix Golf Course.
V.I.P Tickets are available from Jameson's
and very good value they are too, let me let you into a little
secret Wanchai and Moo ofJameson's
are doing the entire catering so Cold Beer
will certainly be available. Entrance is free for those of you
that do not mind not being in the Enclosure's there are some
lovely Embankments though as you can see from our photos. So
if you find yourself with nothing to do on Saturday
or Sunday please come along for a lot, I can assure
you of a good welcome from Moo and Wanchai
as well as a fine time with the Polo people
out there including Peter, Ferenc and my old
running Buddy Stephan Ryser. Please check the
poster on this page and our events page for further details.
Fat Landlord Kim out in the Polo Escape Fields with the
Troops organizing with Peter, and Ferenc with the Escape Polo
team for the Upcoming Polo Tournament on 20th and 21st February
Of course next weekend is the big one for
Cricket Fans as Pattaya Cricket Club
hold their first couple of games at Horseshoe Point on
Saturday 20th February at 2.30 there will be a
20/20 Cricket game against the British Club,
followed on Sunday by a slightly more serious
game of 35 over’s against the British Club starting
at 1.00 p.m. Simon Philbrook is the man in charge, and
will be holding Nets on Saturday, and next Wednesday
if anybody fancies turning their arm over, or swinging a piece
of Willow. The Pitch at Horseshoe Point is now
well bedded in and ready for action, it really is perfect up their.
Not forgetting that Ice Cold Beer is always available
at Horseshoe Point, plus loads of tasty snacks,
and there is loads for the kids to do while the cricket action
takes place. Well have a good week everybody, and see you at the
bar. Kim
Even these two could not mend a broken Davey

F.C Nova's Bob the Barman’s Man of the Match Nick has
to drink a Pint of margarita after being nominated by Stuart
Levy as Man of the Match
Stuart Levy has to drink Landlord's Kim's Man of the Match award.
Kim's Man of the Match award always goes to the person who has
had the most effect on the game last Sunday, the game was nicely
in control in our Cup game with the Mighty F.C Nova up 3-0,
sadly our brilliant Goalkeeper Terry, then incurred a slight
thigh strain so had to go off to be replaced by our own Coach
Stuart Levy, anyway you probably know the rest of the story.
The opposition spotted an opportunity and made a couple of substitutions
themselves, bringing on a couple of rather younger and definitely
much quicker strikers to combat our row rather tiring larger
Defenders (Aldershot Dave thought he had gone blind for the
rest of the game as he never even saw the bloke he was supposed
to be marking who scored SIX, and the blindness affliction seemed
to have effected our new Goalkeeper to as he let in NINE). So
sadly it was back to Jameson's and a Carvery and some rather
large margaritas
Due to various love trusts, hangovers, general malaise,
The Magnificent Seven had been cut down to the Fantastic Four

For your information and if you wish further
information please follow the links. I had to have a new Passport
this year and I found the Postal Service very good. I also know
that Dennis of Dennis and Lek Laundry also sent his too and
was very happy with the results. What's the difference between
sending it too Hong Kong or Bangkok?
