A Lovely
Week for Landlord Kim Fletcher At Jameson's
A great
week at Jameson's, like a continuous riot,
well it always is when The Root of All Evil Malcolm
Clare is around. The Home Delivery Service
from Jameson's has now started. All you have to do
is ring this number 038-361 874, place your
order tell us where you live, and it will be delivered free
of charge straight to your door (or table). So if your feeling
a bit peckish at home, and you can't be bothered to get up,
let alone cook call us and we will deliver you the special or
whatever you want from the menu, right to you. Just look up
what you want from the menu section of this website and pick
up the phone. The first time you order, we will take all your
details etc and then allocate you a number, to make it easier
when you order next time. I have a feeling that Brian
Abbott will be number one.
St.
Patrick's Day Tuesday 17th March is
always a bit of fun, pretty girls in Green, Irish Party
Music, and Free Bar Snacks, with Guinness at
145 Baht a Pint all day and night. Roast Chicken

Birthdays
this week include Geoffrey Evans the Mighty Bouncer
(Hello to Boro Steve) and the delightful
Ian (Lady Di) Harrington. Next week we have Mark
Stubbs's Birthday and the Lovely Harpic's.
The great thing about running the pub is that you never know
who is going to work through the door next Linus
is due back to his local next week, The two Franks
came back to us over the weekend fresh from more adventures
under the high seas. Sadly The Leader of the Youth Policy
Paul Dixon has had to hand over the reigns to Young
Steve Page. Jill Peebles came in for
a Black Russian or two with boyfriend
Michael. Captain Brian Abbott is always
in as long as the beer is cold.
With the hot weather really getting a grip now, do remember
that the Jameson's Happy Hour is still in full
flow (literally) with Ice Pumps for both the
Heineken and Tiger on Draught. The coldest beer in
Pattaya at only 80 Baht a pint between
4.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. every day. Must be just about
the cheapest beer in Pattaya too.

The
Full Blurb on the Chang Mai Sixes
Once again the San Miguel Chiang
Mai International Cricket Sixes are nearly upon us. This year,
the 22nd successive year there will be played from Sunday March
29 until Saturday April 4, as usual at the Gymkhana Club. It
has become one of the world’s most popular amateur cricket
tournaments, and once again is being sponsored by San Miguel.
This year there are 32 teams from around the world, Australia
& England are well represented by 7 teams each. Bahrain,
Bangladesh, China, Greece, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa,
U.E.A., Vietnam and Zimbabwe are all represented. Thailand has
6 teams including the home team of ‘Gymkhana Cavaliers’
as well as ‘Stuffed Beavers’ and the ‘Thai
Thevada’ a team of young Thai nationals who have been
taught the game and coached under Chiang Mai’s Cricket
Development program some of whom the organisers are hoping to
see represent Thailand in the Asian Games.
There are five tournament trophies to be played for, Chiang
Mai Sixes Cup, Bromley Shield, Bowl, Plate and Spoon.
Once again this year, every day of the Chiang Mai sixes will
be broadcast in both audio and video formats. New equipment
is being procured to improve the presentation of the live video
feed. Full details of the broadcasts and other details of the
tournament can be found on the Sixes website at www.chiangmaisixes.com
The Chiengmai Gymkhana Club is situated on the old Chiangmai
Lamphun Road just north of Nong Hoy Market (before the Holiday
Inn Hotel) and is an easy tuk-tuk or songthaew ride from any
part of Chiangmai. Admission to the beautiful, spacious grounds
of the Gymkhana Club is free and there is ample, shaded seating
for cricket spectators. As always, there will a wide variety
of foods on sale, plus cold San Miguel beer and other beverages
will be available from the "Boundary Bar" which is
located right in the heart of the action. The Sixes is sure
to be a fun-filled seven days and a big crowd puller for residents
of Chiangmai and visitors to our northern city.

The Old Dart Coach always likes to say, “There are no
moral victory’s in darts. You either get the win or you
don’t.” The ODC may be wrong on that one now that
the PDC, Professional Darts Corporation, has made darts a true
professional sport. For American David Fatum there must be some
solace in the knowledge that he won 2 of the 6 leg’s that
Phil Taylor lost on his way to winning last Saturday’s
German Players Championship. In all Taylor went 42-6 which included
the whitewashing of Adrian Lewis 6-0 in Saturday’s final.
Taylor would beat Lewis in Sunday’s final by a 6-1 score.
Lewis for the weekend took home £6,000 for his two runner-up
finishes. Fatum ? A couple of “attaboy’s”
and hopes for next time. The win was Taylor's fourth successive
Players Championship victory this year which takes his 2009
earnings to £199,000. Which “back in the day”
was a career.
Taylor while going 36-11 on Sunday did face a test against Kevin
Painter in the semi-finals. In that one Taylor saw his 3-1 advantage
turn into a 4-2 lead . Painter then took 3 on the trot for a
5-4 lead and just one leg from the win. Taylor held his throw
to level then used a 12 darter against the throw, including180
and a 85 finish, to book his spot in the finals. As a footnote
for those that attended public schools or are math challenged
for the weekend Taylor won 78 legs and lost only 17.
Whyte
& Mackay Premier League
When the
Whyte & Mackay premier league played a visit to Metro Radio
Arena last Thursday the Jordies, that’s what they call
locals in Newcastle, were looking forward to the latest clash
of the Titans. Mervyn King had a clean slate in league play
while Phil Taylor was coming off his first loss at the hands
and darts of James Wade. One can just imagine, if one is in
to hearing things, TV commentator Sid Wodell saying when Phil
Taylor went up 4-1 over Mervyn King “ the reports of my
death are greatly exaggerated”. Of course Wodell never
quotes Mark Twain, he’s a Shakespeare kind of guy, while
Taylor probably doesn’t even recognize the name Mark Twain.
That mindset would have changed when King came back winning
6 of the next 7 to lead 7-5.
At 7-5 King
was working on a great leg , the 13th, with darts of 100,180
and 180. With 41 remaining King got the 9 he needed to set up
32 with two arrows still in the quiver. Whoops. Nothing, Nada,
Zip, Zero. Taylor accepted the invitation for a out shot using
double 2 for 7-6. In the final leg Taylor use a 180 and a two
darts 80 finish with the double 10 for the draw. The draw dropped
Taylor to a joint third on points in the standing with John
Part. Actually Taylor is third with 2 more leg’s won but
that’s a English football thing.
John Part
got his second win on the trot when he took out Terry Jenkins
8-5. For Part, who was in control 4-2 and 7-4 , it was game
he had to have. Next week he gets Jelle Klaasen who he should
beat as he ready’s for Taylor. Jenkins got to 7-5 when
Part didn’t miss the double 8 on the end of a 127 check
for the 8-5 win. ."I was lucky because Terry wasn't on
his game." Lucky and double will do it every time. James
Wade dealt Jelle Klaasen another loss 8-6. It was a somewhat
sloppy match where Wade came back from 5-6 down for the win.
Wade took the 12th leg with a “shanghai” finish
for 6-6. Wade then went up 7-6 as both players started the 14th
with 180,140. Klassen missed the bull for the draw as Wade hit
double 8 for the win. Wade also collected £1,000 high
checkout of 170.
For pure
enjoyment the Wayne Mardle-Raymond van Barneveld draw took honors.
Mardle was down 3-1, then up 4-3 when a pair of bull finishes
gave him a 7-6 advantage. “Barney” would earn the
draw in the final leg with a 180,135 before finally hitting
double 12 with his fourth dart.
THORTON
sweeps Scottish Players Championship
Scotland’s
Robert Thorton became only the third player to win both ends
of a PDC weekend tour event. The other two are Adrian Lewis
and some guy named Phil Taylor. Taylor passed on the Scottish
Players Championship which opened the door for Thorton. He didn’t
merely walk in he kicked the son-of-a-gun down and made himself
right at home. He picked up a neat £12,000 pounds by defeating
Dennis “The Menace “ Priestly twice by scored of
6-5 and 6-2. On Saturday with the first 5 legs going with the
throw Priestly was down 3-2. Following the break after Thorton
went up 4-2, Priestly used legs which included 180’s to
level at 4. Thorton made 96 go away for 5-4 which Prieslty answered
with a 14 darter to force the match to the decider. A 180 to
open the final leg
wasn’t enough for Priestly when Thorton had scored of
135, 140 and a 86 finish for the win.
In Sunday’s final Priestly led 1-0 on 13 darter that Thorton
answered with legs of 11,12,14 for a 3-1 lead. Prestly would
get it to 4-2 before Thorton ran the table. A couple of America
players made appearances. Larry Butler, who won one of the first
PDC events, has a new sponsor and is back on the tungsten trail.
He lost 6-4 to Sean Palfrey. On Sunday Yank John Kuczynski got
to the second round as he beat Arron Monk 6-0 before getting
“whitewashed” by Vet Kevin Painter 6-0. Sunday’s
play was a good day for “The Russian Fox” Anastasia
Dobromyslova coming off a 6-1 loss to American Immigrant Gary
Mawson on Saturday. Dobromyslova would take out Dave Honey 6-3
by snatching the final 3 legs on the trot after being level.
She would take out Stephen Hardy in round 2 by a 6-3 score before
losing 6-5 to Mark Webster.
