Diary No. 242 Week of 2nd November
2009 - 8th November 2009 Updated 12th November 2009
Jameson's
a Winner
All the way what a good
weekend for Jameson's sport. F.C Pattaya
our Football team won their first game, and what a victory celebration
we had. Stories of the victory grew larger and larger as the
night continued, sorry there are no great pictures from the
night but we were too busy celebrating to take photos, and therefore
the staffs were also too busy supplying us with the necessary
to take photos as well. There is at least one quick shot of
Dave and myself in arms which sums up the comradely
of the night. It certainly took the edge off the rather incomplete
performance of the England Rugby Team. Although
for me the nicest moment of the evening was when the whole Pub
stayed quiet for the minutes silence for Remembrance
Day, and then standing and singing out loud the
British National Anthem. The Carvery
also took a real battering, but I was pleased to see the kitchen
well up for it. The Panthers were well in evidence
as usual led by our Captain Eoin Quirke and
his lovely wife Shelley, supported by Simon
Quigley (who did ask for the Haye fight
to be recorded, BUT The Landlord forgot), Superman
Graham Watkins, Damo and of course Mickey the
Shirt Price, a broken Harpic led along
by Rick (Harpic, put the funniest
quote on Facebook I have ever seen), Judi McNamara,
The Coe's all John and Dai and Porn, and of course
the Everest Base Camp team, Darren, Brian Abbott, David
Dobbs, Paul Strachan, Lewis Underwood, Derek Hunter, Derek and
Sa, Young Steve Page and Dad Billy with his Offsider Tommy.
Even greater news was
to follow on Sunday when Simon Philbrook
(or Fulbrook to his friends) led The
Pattaya F.C to victory in their first ever sixes tournament
in the Plate of the Bangkok Sixes with Simon
himself actually scoring the winning runs (nine off two balls)
to win the game. Tuesday was a good day for most at Jamo's
as we tried out the Lancashire Hotpot for the
new menu, this now seems to be a nailed on favourite to go on
the permanent menu come the new year. Yes Brian
as well as Treacle Pudding. We also tried some
of the Christmas Pudding for the Big
Day, not exactly diabetic friendly, but very nice all
the same. The Mighty Sam Peebles made his return, dragging
all in his wake, a great night and let’s just sum it up
by saying that Pagey missed his doctor’s
appointment on Wednesday. Wednesday
is a sad day in the book as we are now Dobbless
with both Paul and David leaving the field
of play. Such is the life at Jamo's, some come
in and some go out, the return of Malcolm Clare The
Root of All Evil must be very immanent in fact by the
time this is published he may well be looking over my shoulder
with a piece of stilton in his hand. Sorry to have missed
the Monkeys on Sunday, it would of
been good to see David and Sylvia.
A brief moment to say hello to Brussels Sprout Pat and
Jonathan Wilson. Have a great week, Kim.
Everest Base Camp watch out Jameson's is on the way. It is definitely
happening. Three intrepid explorers from Jameson's are off to
Base Camp at Everest next March. The team so far is Paul Dobbs,
Derek Hunter, and Young Steve Page. Kim Fletcher will be sitting
in his seat at Jameson's co-coordinating everything, Brian Abbott
as we are at the moment cannot make his mind up as to whether
join the expedition or to give backroom support, Ray Campbell
is Morale Superidentant, Lewis (Woody) Underwood is resident
expert having lived and worked in Nepal for 12 years, Paul Strachan
will handle the publicity, Darren will be organizing and David
Dobbs will be on crowd control while everybody else can watch
out for sponsorship forms. The Boys are going to pay for their
own trip, so any sponsorship money will go directly to The Jesters
Care4Kids Charity Drive 2010
I'm afraid it is the only way to stop Abbott from singing, but
it works
A round of Port's at Jameson's Nova Table
Dai Coe, Fat Landlord and Captain Steve Ponter as ever with
the phone to his ear
The first meeting of next years international Charity Drive
to be held in Pattaya convened by Paul Crouch
Nova Table on Saturday night, Saturday night at Jamo's was such
a good night I'm afraid we didn't have enough time to take many
photos which is a good thing for Jamo's but not such a good
thing for the diary. Everybody had a good time with the Football
team excelling itself, coming back home after their first victory,
Moo also held a storming Party, and the Panthers were all in
watching an entertaining game of Rugby between England and Australia.
This weekend will see more Rugby, please check our sports schedule
for details. Again I must remind everybody that although Jameson's
is through and through a Rugby Pub, and Rugby will always get
pride of place on the big screen etc, but as we have 17 screens
in Jameson's there is always room to put the other sports on.
So we can keep everybody happy, and everybody gets the best
of both worlds
The biggest Rack of Ribs (and the best) is served at Jameson's
