Diary No. 217 Week of 4th May 2009
- 10th May 2009 Updated 14th May 2009
A
week of Soccer Action, and Celebrations
Rick
Bryant passed 50 years old this last
week an achievement not many of us thought he would make (including
himself!!!!). Happy Birthday Bryant may there
be many more. All The Youth Policy have been
having a wonderful time watching the Football this
week with all three North/East teams caught
up in the relegation battle. Personally The Landlord
is grateful that he comes from down South.
Happy travels to Sam Peebles who is off back
to work this week. Ian is off on his travels again this time back
to Blighty, and he is going back to Folkestone
Kent where many, many, many Moons ago The Landlord
was sent to school, oh happy memories. Lady Di of Harrington
has gone off to Bangkok to work really a man
of his age should have more dignity. Sam Peebles
has also been persuaded to go back to work, but just for a little
while you understand. Paul Dobbs (Dobsy
to you and me) is also now stuck somewhere in the desert, crying
into his handkerchief over his beloved Boro.
I keep telling him, “Not to give up, there are still two
games to go”. But he won't listen. Look at the England
Cricket and Football teams from Rags
to Riches in no time.
A wonderful picture dug up for us by Geoff Evans, of a famous
day at Jools where the Brave, the Bold, and the Stupid went
down to Lumpini Park for a breakfast of Fresh Snakes Blood.
Yes that's right the fella with no legs was Breakfast. This
photo was taken about 6.30 A.M. (Well what other time do you
drink snakes blood?) standing round the circle from left to
right are Herbie Gledhill, Kim Fletcher, Dar Elkin, Chris Church,
Geoff Evans, Stan Elkin, Bob Niggle, Aoi Evans, (who's idea
it was) Keith Brooks, Geoff Bradley, and Number One, Noi, Jools
Manageress. Plus of course playing a very short cameo appearance
by the Cobra, and his owner. If my memory serves me right this
photo was taken in about 1994, and can now be seen on the Jools
bar walls.
Just before the Kays left for their planes
Brian Abbott 'Captain Sensible'
Jimmy Howard in yet another wonderful shirt, The Font of All
Knowledge Graham MacDonald, The One Night Wonder Simon Edmonds,
and the returning Jetlagged Simon Philbrook
Graham Macdonald the Charmer
Harpic, and Shelley
Happy Birthday
Nova Table on Friday night early doors with Terry Schofield
of No Fixed Abode, Fat Landlord Kim Fletcher and The Bouncer
Geoff Evans (who wasn't there Allegedly)
A view from the other side of the Bar
Nova Table starts to hot up
The Unquenchables are back
Jay and Harpic
Eat, Drink and be merry
Derek gets stuck into the Friday Three Course Dinner Special
at 195 B. Including a Starter, Main Course of Fish 'n' Chips
and then a choice of dessert. Doesn't he look happy on this?
Chicken Nick gives a sideways glance
John, Ashley, and Ian discuss the exact route that Ian will
be taking to get himself home to Blighty this week
Work............. Moo and Pen caught mid action
Brand new Jameson's Breakfast
has been put together by a Committee of the Jameson's
Customers, headed up basically by The Youth
Policy of Young Steve Page, RayC, Blue Bar Derek, Scottish Derek,
The Font of All Knowledge Graham MacDonald, Simon and Debbie
Philbrook, Brian Abbott, Eoin and Shelley Quirke, Damo, Johny
Live, 'Simon' (that just covers about half the people
in the bar, Simon was obviously a very popular
name in our Era. All nice blokes of course),
Captain Steve Ponter and all. There's only
one way to see if it's any good came and try it. The
Extra Black Pudding can definitely be laid at the hands
of RayC, and I think that Moo
has done a lovely job on lay-out of the menu, all we need now
is for you to come and try it out.
Plenty of General's arriving
this weekend Sid Silk is going to pop in to
give us the benefit of his Boxing knowledge,
well that should tidy up a nice little 30 seconds. Geoff
Evans is back in town this weekend officially. So you
know the rules lads Boro Steve pronounced
Geoff the Bouncer, and we will leave it there.
Great to have lots and lots of Bryant's in
on Wednesday night and fun to talk of old times.
Can you imagine having Harpic as your personal
PR, looking after you in every way. Even making
romantic choices for you. Well I have and I have the scars to
prove it. I presume that Rick's Birthday will
spill into Graham Watkins's Birthday this weekend.
A very Happy Birthday to you both from all at Jameson's.
This week it is also Big John Harrisson's Birthday,
and the man who gave us Captain Care4Kids Steve Ponter,
Bill Ponter’s Birthday. So Birthdaywishes go out to you
two, too.
Lads of sport on the Telly this weekend as well, Cricket,
West Indies having another go at the English
Premier League Football with vital match's at both
the top and the bottom and best of all the Rugby with
the Heineken Cup Final. Please look up our schedule
on the sports link for all the details.
Have a lovely week. If anybody wants to be added to our weekly
mailing list please drop me a line at info@jamesons-pattaya.com
and I'll add you on. Regards, Kim, Moo, and Rony.
Fajitas for Peter and his good Lady
The always smiling Bjorne
Kim, Ron, and Bruce all get together
to have a giggle about last week's Chris Kay's Pattaya Ten's
at Horseshoe Point, next year's event is already under way with
plans being made with The Root of All Evil Malcolm Clare taking
on more responsibilities
Happy Birthday Burnley Simon
Kim hangs onto Jim , and Jim wonders if he can ever get away
from this wretched Table
Simon Quigley, Kim Fletcher, and The Root of All Evil Malcolm
Clare are kept amused for the time being by Muffy Kerr. You
have always to stay on the right side of Muffy as one he has
a huge family, (I mean there is a lot of them, not that they
are Fat!) and Muffy is the main man for raffle tickets for the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive every year, this year the main
events are at the Diana Driving Range and Resort Fair Day on
Sunday 13th September followed by The Party Night at Jameson's
on Saturday the 19th September. With all the fun of the Fair,
please bring any books DVD's and CD's to Jameson's for collection
for the now traditional Jameson's stall for used items at the
Jesters Fair the quicker you can get them to us the quicker
we can get them sorted. On The Party Night there is a bit of
an Auction which is always great fun, the Auction items already
in are on display on this site just go to the flashing link
on the left hand side of this page as you look at it and have
a shufty, you will be glad you did, as it is quite interesting,
and you might even want to put a bid in
When The Landlord was allowed to drink beer (which seems a very
long time ago now, in fact all the way back to last Monday.
Tragic really) he used to drink 'Pure Blonde' because they do
have such pretty promotion girls. Seen here sitting with a table
full of Pure Blonde is Jameson's Football Captain Brian Abbott,
Landlord Kim Fletcher, a Friend, The Root of All Evil Malcolm
Clare, and another friend. Oh Mottman what are you doing back
in Newcastle?
Iain and Peter a study in concentration. Iain write a marvelous
Motor Sport Column in The Pattaya Mail, which if you would like
to look it up is on www.pattayamail.com
Try and keep your eyes focused on Steve and Derek please Boys
Dave concentrates as hard as anybody whilst the Grand Prix is
on. As you can see in the background Brian Abbott is purely
here for the 'Pure Blonde'. Whilst Furniture Peter has a firm
grip on Big Dave's Jools chair
Dave still looking at the Formula One, Brian still waiting for
the Big Football game, Kim still hiding behind a line of Pure
Blonde's. This was before Monday, and The Landlord's little
chat with the Doctor
The Formula One is still going, but if you notice in the background
there is still one dissenter, who has managed to have the Manchester
United vs. Manchester City game put on. I imagine Dennis probably
had something to do with this
Steve and Derek try to get out the way of having their photo
taken again. But Nope we got 'em
When the camera is out you may as well smile
Iain Corness's Car Club which meets at Jameson's every second
Monday of the month and talk about all sorts as long as it has
got wheels, piston's etc. Always a very jolly group if you are
a Diesel head and want to talk your sport Iain's Car Club is
the place to come
Now the competition this week is who can come up with the funniest
caption for this photo. "Somebody shot Harpic and the Band
played on?". "Harpic tried really hard to stay awake
during the Cricket". "The conversation around Nova
Table is really this boring"
Bob and J.J share a giggle
Simon from Burnley feeling very
happy with himself as not only did he get the girls (and boys)
Charlie, Pucky, and Alice, but his rotten team Burnley beat
our beloved Reading Football Club causing not only Good Guy
Steve Coppell to resign, but worst of all causing the demise
of the Reading Football Club Supporters Society, Thailand, Pattaya,
Division, North to call it a day and pack it all up. (Apart
from Harpic of course, The Splitter who will be carrying on,
on her own). Good Luck in the Final anyway to Burnley (he says
through gritted teeth, although slightly tempered by the fact
that England Cricket Team have finally got their onions together,
now if the Boro can just win their last two games)
Anybody for a game of pool
Happy Birthday. Great action shot of blowing out the candles
Now it is serious Birthday Party time. There is no better place
in Pattaya to enjoy your Birthday than Jameson's
Muffy's Gang. Sticks at the ready (to play pool of course)
While the Boys play pool the rest of Muffy's Gang do what they
do best eat Jameson's wonderful food
The Lights are off and it's go. Iain Corness (who nearly
went into retirement as a Racing Driver this week, but The Landlord
managed to talk him out of it. Way to young yet Iain) and his
crew watch the start of last week's Formula One Grand Prix on
the giant screen at Jameson's in the sports room. The great
thing about Jameson's is that we have 17 screens to show the
sport on and we can show 11 different channels at the same time.
We have the giant screen in the sports room, three 42"
screens in the bar and all the rest are strategically placed
around so you can position yourself where you want and watch
several sports all at the same time. Means you have a crick
in your neck the next day, but Hey we all have to make sacrifices
for sport
The giant screen makes an appearance itself, as you can see
it's pretty big. How big? Well I don't know my arms aren't long
enough
Pucky, one of the Stawford Press Promotional Girls, and Nok,
this photo is for Mottman, and the courage. You can work out
yourselves who is for who?
In order of height
Ian getting ready to fly back to Blighty. Not only is he going
back to England, but he is going back to Hythe, Kent. Now who
else do I know that lives there?
Ashley pops his head up so we can get a full photo
Happiness is a Jameson's plateful, and full glasses
Harpic and Carly Bryant, sit quite contently at Nova Table.
How they keep going is beyond me. This is like day four of Rick
Bryant's Birthday week, (Have you noticed these days how everybody,
myself included, has either two Birthday's a year or celebrates
like fury for a whole week?)
A lovely shot of the lovely Carly Bryant. Later Carly was to
get extremely excited about the Men's Gymnastics on the Telly,
whilst the rest of us watched the Cricket
Bjorn from Norway gets the drinks in for the staff, a nice thing
to do on a quiet night
Kim Fletcher and Jameson's thoughts
turn to the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009
The Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive is coming up very quickly. Let me just remind you of the
dates for the main events on Sunday 13th September 2009 is the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Fair at the Diana Driving Range and
Resort, which this year looks like it is going to be even bigger
and better this year than last (if that is possible). Kevin Mitch
once again stepping into the breach, and doing all the organization
in his usual brilliant military precision style. Now whilst talking
about the Fair can I also remind everybody that Jameson's amongst
other things, has a Used Book Stall at the Fair run by Judi McNamara.
The Used Book Stall is always great fun and also raises a nice
lot of money for the kids. It is simple logic. (A) You kindly
donate to us all your old used books, which can be dropped off
at Jameson's or TQ any time, the earlier the better so we can
get them sorted. (B) You come to the Fair, and then buy a lot
of good books at a cheap price, come early for the best selection.
(C) We give all the money we raise to Kevin who hands it on to
the Care4Kids Charity Drive. Easy.
The next event after the Fair is the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Party Night at Jameson's on Saturday 19th September 2009 which
will feature Paul Jackson as our compeer, Music from Mike Gerrard,
Rick and Harpic Bryant, and to bring us all to a Rockin' close
Pop's Pattaya All Stars and assorted guests. On that night there
will also be the arrival of Eric and Robert from their marathon
Charity Bike Ride always an amazing feat of endurance, the climax
to the Raffle and the fantastic Jesters Care4Kids Charity Auction.
The Auction Site is up and running, with lots of good things up
there already, all you have to do is click on the link on the
left hand side of this page and you will be whisked into Ron Keeley
of World of Wine Auction Site, there is plenty to look at and
you might even fancy putting a bid in yourself. Plenty already
have.
There are plenty of ways of helping the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive 2009, Obviously by coming to the Fair, and the Party Night,
making bids on the Auction Site, buying Raffle Tickets, buying
T-Shirts, taking a Bumper Sticker for your car, taking and reading
one of our brochures and showing them to other people (all available
at Jameson's or TQ). If you would like to know some more right
now please click on the link on the right hand side of the page
for the Jesters Care4Kids and you will go on a journey to see
all about us the website. It is regularly updated and is run by
our Chairman, Lewis (Woody) Underwood, and our Webmaster David
Smith, a very good Charity, run by some wonderful people, to help
those less fortunate than others.
Cheers,
see you at the Bar Kim
