Diary No. 226 Week of 6th July 2009
- 12th July 2009 Updated 16th July 2009
The
Huge Half Marathon
Well..................
By the time you read this I will either be trying not to think
about the upcoming early morning forage into Pattaya,
or trying to get away from MacDonald's clutches
on Saturday night after the Rugby,
or even possibly on the run itself (this could take quite a
while so very possible) or lying in a darkened room trying to
recover, either with a bright heart of success or with the grim
reality of defeat if I didn't make it. I must say that from
one flippant remark the whole thing has quite caught fire, and
I have no option now but to get myself out of bed on Sunday
morning at 3.30 a.m. and get on with it. Sam
Peebles has laid off some of his money by betting on
the Landlord's physical out come of the event.
Sponsorship has been huge and quiet overwhelming,
so far stepping up to the plate have been, my mate Bill
Ponter who got the whole sponsorship thing off to a
huge start, then we have had e-mails from Bruce Robertson,
and everybody's favorite Headmaster Ken Sly
who will be dropping into see us in a couple of weeks, Paul
Gambles of the wonderful MBMG, Rony Fineman and family from
Nova Group, Ray Campbell (RayC), Steve (Pagey) Page, Happy Birthday
Steve and watch out you are growing out of the
Youth Policy. Derek Hunter, Derek and Sa McTighe, Ian (Lady
Di) Harrington, Chris Lock, Sam Peebles, Steve Hogarth, Kevin
Johnston, Victor Zac, Hoser, Blowfly, Paul Slack, Nick Johnston
(Have I got that right, anyway Kevin's Son),
Rich Wibrow (who actually rang me up to see
if it was true), Little Big Dave, Peter Malhotra of
the Pattaya Mail, The Executive Chef of the Dusit and my Golf
Partner Flemming Schulthess, The Mighty Bouncer Geoff Evans
(who's iPod I will be clasping to my ears all the way round),
Tony Bailey, Sid and Richard, Graham MacDonald
('The Font of All Knowledge' who should know
better), P Hogra, Paul Dobbs (Dobsy), The wonderful
Paul Holmes, Martin Simons, and Alex Wood who has threatened
to come too. Major sponsors are also the
Jesters M.C and Mark Stubbs. To all of you that have
sponsored me so far, a very big Thank you, and for those of
you that still would like to make a donation please either come
in the Pub and sign up or click on the sponsorship
link on the left hand side of this page as you read the Diary.
The more money I can raise makes it more and more important
for me to finish. All the money collected will be handed over
to the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009,
so you know that every baht will reach the children.
The
Sponsorship Form
Of course
my little stroll is only a small part of the whole event this
year, Robert and Eric will again be doing their
Bike Ride, and of course there are the main
events. The Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009 Fair
will be held at the Diana Driving Range and Resort on
Sunday 13th September, a marvelous day out with naturally
all the fun of the Fair. There are lots of
things that can be done to help out at the Fair.
Firstly by going! It's so easy to do good isn't it, buy a beer
and you have fed a kid for a day or more. All the money that
you spend on the Jesters Beer Tents goes directly
to Charity as all the beer is donated by generous
souls, and the Jesters themselves man the tents,
the of course there are the two raffles the Children's
Raffle on the day of the Fair sponsored by
The Pattaya Sports Club, or the raffle for the
Grand Raffle which is drawn on the Party Night.
There are two stalls that need your help as well at
the Fair. Firstly we have the Jameson's Stall
which this year will be selling, Books, DVD's and CD's,
plus as a huge bonus this year we will also be selling 7
fully refurbished Computers through the generosity
of Rugby Tony, Judi McNamara (who will be running
the stall), Ian (Lady Di) Harrington, and Ron Keeley
of the magnificent World of Wines, who have
all either donated computers or put there hard work into ensuring
that these computers are in the best possible Nick come
the day. Ingrid will also be running a
White Elephant Stall (in other words anything that
you have that you don't want Ingrid will sell
for you and give the money to The Jesters Care4Kids
Charity Drive). All items, can be dropped off at Jameson's,
Tropical Bert's, Tahitian Queen, or the Pattaya Mail office.
All items will be gratefully received, and put to a good cause.
If you would like to know more about the Charity Drive,
please look up our main site at www.care4kids.info or you can
pick up Brochures, Stickers, T-Shirts or the brand new
Wristbands at Jameson's.

Graham MacDonald
was welcomed back to Pattaya this week with
open arms after his trip to watch the Lions in South
Africa, he did manage to tell a few stories, but was
somewhat overwhelmed by the Landlord jabbering
on about The Victorious Bad Guys Golfing Victory
over the fading Good Guys. The actual golf
event was three weeks ago now so you can imagine how much the
story has increased by now. Peter Bevis will
never live this down.
Also returning this week, have been our World Famous
Football Captain Brian Abbott, back from his trip down
under to Australia, Paul Dobbs is back ensconced
in the Nova Park, Sid Silk the Man of Steel
with his side kicks Gary and Richard. Paul Holmes, Alex
Wood who may regret some of the hasty promises he made
about the Half Marathon that were made on Saturday
night, a pleasure to listen to some of the funniest
stories I have ever heard from Martin on Sunday night.
Captain Steve (Jester) Ponter has also returned from
Australia, so all is well with the world.
Making devastating visits to the Pub and particularly
Nova Table this weekend were Kevin
Johnston (who nearly did for us all with his generosity,
and general 'Bon Homie definitely a permanent
feature around Nova Table and Jameson's from
now on). Pagey's friends Peter and Deborah, Derek Hunter,
and of course Sam Peebles social gathering
for a Goodbye Party before his holidays nearly ran the Pub
out of the Amber ale. Good to see Paul
from Bangkok in the Pub, although
he couldn't see us as the first thing he did when he arrived
in the Pub was break his glasses. Good job
Wanchai was around to fix them. See you at
the bar, Kim.
The 100 Day Ceremony for Aoi. A nice ceremony for the 100
days of the passing of Aoi. It was a sad day to remember, but
Aoi would of approved as it was very well organized, as it was
always Aoi that organized us all in the past, I think she would
of been very proud of the day. As ever Geoff and Nat behaved
with great dignity. As ever later on we shared a drink or two
which I feel that Aoi would of approved of to

turn to the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009
The Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive is coming up very quickly. Let me just remind you of the
dates for the main events on Sunday 13th September 2009 is the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Fair at the Diana Driving Range and
Resort, which this year looks like it is going to be even bigger
and better this year than last (if that is possible). Kevin Mitch
once again stepping into the breach, and doing all the organization
in his usual brilliant military precision style. Now whilst talking
about the Fair can I also remind everybody that Jameson's amongst
other things, has a Used Book Stall at the Fair run by Judi McNamara.
The Used Book Stall is always great fun and also raises a nice
lot of money for the kids. It is simple logic. (A) You kindly
donate to us all your old used books, which can be dropped off
at Jameson's or TQ any time, the earlier the better so we can
get them sorted. (B) You come to the Fair, and then buy a lot
of good books at a cheap price, come early for the best selection.
(C) We give all the money we raise to Kevin who hands it on to
the Care4Kids Charity Drive. Easy.
The next event after the Fair is the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Party Night at Jameson's on Saturday 19th September 2009 which
will feature Paul Jackson as our compeer, Music from Mike Gerrard,
Rick and Harpic Bryant, and to bring us all to a Rockin' close
Pop's Pattaya All Stars and assorted guests. On that night there
will also be the arrival of Eric and Robert from their marathon
Charity Bike Ride always an amazing feat of endurance, the climax
to the Raffle and the fantastic Jesters Care4Kids Charity Auction.
The Auction Site is up and running, with lots of good things up
there already, all you have to do is click on the link on the
left hand side of this page and you will be whisked into Ron Keeley
of World of Wine Auction Site, there is plenty to look at and
you might even fancy putting a bid in yourself. Plenty already
have.
There are plenty of ways of helping the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive 2009, Obviously by coming to the Fair, and the Party Night,
making bids on the Auction Site, buying Raffle Tickets, buying
T-Shirts, taking a Bumper Sticker for your car, taking and reading
one of our brochures and showing them to other people (all available
at Jameson's or TQ). If you would like to know some more right
now please click on the link on the right hand side of the page
for the Jesters Care4Kids and you will go on a journey to see
all about us the website. It is regularly updated and is run by
our Chairman, Lewis (Woody) Underwood, and our Webmaster David
Smith, a very good Charity, run by some wonderful people, to help
those less fortunate than others.
