Not
a good week for the Reading Supporters Club
Here it is again the Songkran
Festival, all of you that are in Pattaya
may I wish you a safe and pleasant Thai New Year.
Boro Steve has departed temporarily back to
Australia, sad to see him go, but always a
delight to see him come back. The Root of All Evil Malcolm
Clare is back, so everybody keep on your toes. Graham
MacDonald hosted a marvelous dinner at Bruno's
this week, marvelous food, even better company and so much fun,
Ray Matti after his excursions at the Chang
Mai Sixes was in fine form and had decanted a very
fine bottle of Vintage port into a plastic coke zero bottle,
so this as ever with ray brought a little bit of the theatre
of the Absurd to an evening out. But a public Thank you to Graham,
and Fredi for running such a fine restaurant.
Many fine events last week, Monday the Hash House Harriers
paid us a visit with new Grand Master Spaghetti head
(Jimmy). Tuesday it was the turn of
the Malaka's Cricket team to come in and drink
the bar dry, the rest of the week was it's usual crazy self
except for the ominous silence that followed Reading's
rather disastrous defeat against some other team on Saturday
night, but I'm sure Steve and the
boys are only doing this to build up the sense of drama towards
the end of the season, I am right Steve that's
what your doing just trying to make our lives a little bit more
exciting?
Blowfly and The Root of All Evil discuss more dastardly
plans, with a smiling Bam Bam in the background
The Jameson's Youth Policy of Young Steve and Young Paul,
who might now get a break for a couple of weeks as Tommy and
Billy have retired back to their Country Estates in England
Paul (Dobsy) Dobbs, is just about ready for bed at this
point until a second wind blew in and off he went again
The freshly arrived back Paul Dobbs,
who has foregone the hot and dry live of the desert to be here
for what may well turn out to be a very hot and very wet Songkran.
Sitting with Dobsy are our esteemed Football Captain Brian Abbott,
and Eric
Ian Harrington our Executive, Junior,
Deputy, Trainee, Assistant Manager has to actually elbow Bob
the Builder Stuart out the way so he can get a drink
Blowfly and the Mighty Geoff Evans (hello
to Steve)
To
great fanfares and celebrations Harpic Bryant
has arrived back, and we were all jolly glad to see her again,
Rick especially as he was getting a bit fed up
with having to warm up his own baked beans from the tin. Judi McNamara gave us the pleasure of her company
on Sunday, Judi is doing a grand
job of keeping the Landlord's wayward daughter
on the straight and narrow, Tracy has now actually
worked at Easy Riders for 2 weeks. Which reminds
me the JestersCare4Kids Charity Drive
is well under way brochures, stickers, and pamphlets can be picked
up from the pub, whilst the very popular new promotion T-Shirts
can be bought at TQ of Woody or Wild Bill. The
Fair is on the Sunday 14th September at the Diana Driving Range
and Resort, Judi McNamara will be running the used book
stall this year, and Jameson's is one of the
drop off points for your used books, so remember the earlier you
drop off those unwanted books, the quicker we can get them sorted
out, and it really is a marvelous way of raising money for the
kids, as you give us your old books and it's all profit for the
Charity Drive. Whilst the Pub night will be at
good old Jameson's on Saturday 20th September which will
see the final of the Auction, please look up
the Auction website this week for some marvelous
new editions to our auction site with fine donations from Boro
Steve, Geoff Evans, and Stephen Leather. Stephen was
in during the week, and there is a fine chance that Dan
Shepherd may well be paying a visit to Pattaya
in Stephen’s new book. I wonder if Spider
will meet Sid Silk.
Jimmy Howard points out why the Chris
Kays Memorial Rugby Tens Tournament at Horseshoe Point on Saturday
and Sunday 3rd and 4th May are going to be such a success. Entry
is free, if you do not know how to get there there is a map
on the Pattaya Panthers section of this diary. Food and drinks
are readily available, there is a lovely swimming pool and lots
of animals and shows for the kids (young and old) to go and
see.
Plus of course there is some fine all action rugby to watch
Brian checks when he can come home, Jason
watchs and Captain Steve Ponter the Jesters man, tells Ian to
pull the other ear
Captain Steve Ponter the man with fire
burning in his chest for the Jesters Care for Kids Charity Drive
(don't forget that the Fair will be on Sunday 14th September
at the Diana Driving Range and Resort, followed by the Party
Night at Jameson's on Saturday 20th September. The Auction site
has been recently updated, and will be updated on a regular
basis, so check that out, and if you want to know more details
of the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive look up the links on
the side of these pages) and Kim Fletcher, think up more ways
of raising money for the kids, more of this as e figure out
what we are doing
The Chris Kays Memorial Pattaya
Rugby Tens loom large on the horizon, on Saturday
and Sunday 3rd and 4th May, a splendid couple of days,
and don't forget apart from some exciting rugby in ideal surroundings
Horseshoe Point also offers many other attractions,
a zoo, horse shows a fine swimming pool, and lots of fine grub
and drinks, so a must visit on your social calendar. If you
do not know where Horseshoe Point is just have
a look at the Pattaya Panthers link on this
page for a map. Rony Fineman and Family are now back from there
hols so no doubt Rony will be back to his old
ways of dashing about here there and everywhere. Tim
Rawlinson is doing a fabulous job up in the new Bangkok
Jameson's (on Silom Rd. by the
Holiday Inn). If in Bangkok do make
a point of dropping in to see him.
Nova in flight with the Landlord actually paying attention
for once, and Ian explaining the correct way of fixing your
computer
After a long hard day at the office Jim enjoys a relaxing
drink and catches up on the news
Wanchai has now made the new big screen
in the Jameson's sports room even bigger, so if you want to
watch any sporting events the best place to come in town is
Jameson's
Lots of
good folk in the bar during the week, Rick and Harpic
Bryant (we are hoping for another of our musical and
magical acoustic afternoon, on Sunday 11th April
in celebration of Rick's Birthday). Happy
Birthday today 17th April to Ray Matti. Good to see
the Root of All Evil Malcolm Clare, Wayne "Blowfly",
The Mighty Geoff Evans, who has been kind enough to
supply the Landlord with enough music and DVD's
to get him through the wet period. Nice to hear from Terje
in Norway, and good as always to see my mate Dag.
Simon and Debbie amongst all the Malaka's.
Eoin and the Pompey supporting Shelley Quirke, Jimmy Howard
our beloved Panthers President, who has already
put a bid in for the Arsenal signed Football on
our Jesters Care4Kids website, although I have
a feeling that Graham Watkins might soon take
over the early running for this. The Youth
policy is still going well Young Paul and Young Steve
regularly propping up the bar, Paul Dobbs, Brian Abbott,
Judi MacNamara, Mickey Price, the man to see if you
want some T-Shirts, Ian saved the Landlord
a lot of grief when he noticed that the Landlord's
car alarm had gone off, and for sure the battery would of run
down if he did not warn him. Graham MacDonald, Ray Matti,
Terry Schofield of No Fixed Abode. Sam Peebles, (Andy
McTighe has of course done the complete reverse and
arrived on the 14th and will depart on the
22nd) and Jon Fox have all
escaped and will return on the 22nd April.
Saturday 19th April 2008 Jameson's will shut
its doors for one day and allow all the staff to enjoy the festive
season. We will of course be back open again first thing on
Sunday 20th April for the Big Fight
between Joe Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins, which
should start about 10 o’clock in the
morning, but if you want to be really sure to see the fight,
and get a good seat maybe 9 o’clock would
be a better idea. The Payne's have of course
been in on a very regular basis, Jason, Nui, and Leo.
Now that Nui can drive Jason
is a very happy little boy. World of Wines Keeley's
Ron, Weaw and James, are about when work allows Ron
has done a splendid job for World of Wines
and I now firmly believe Jameson's has the
finest Pub Wine list in the world. For proof
of this ask Peter Mack. Or look at our wine
list on the side link of this page. Two members of staff I am
delighted to say have rejoined the staff this week,
Wonder Woman has come back from her holidays, joining
the daytime angels, and the wonderful Jay Jay
is back behind the bar as Bob's Assistant Bar Manager,
now feel that with Ae in charge of the floor,
Fon as our Head Cashier, Wee
as the top angel on day shift, Bam Bam as Ae's
Assistant, Bob behind the bar and
Vinai most importantly running the kitchen,
topped off by Wanchai and Moo as Top dog Jameson's
has never run so well before. Always good to have the
Malhotra's in the bar, and of course Mr. Paul
Strachan voted sexiest man in Pattaya
by his own pole. Jim, and Dave are valuable
people in their own right, but help by keeping The Mighty
Bouncer Geoffrey Evans in place. Even with all my careful
directions Linus has still not managed to get
an e-mail to me. Saying which a big hello from everybody to
Pat and Ian Dickson, Lisa Lurve, Tony and Iris Ritchie,
and Trevor Masters and Mark Winslade. Another upcoming
arrival is John Hagan our website marker, presumably
the Landlord will have to buy him several drinks
to get better marks, too short indeed!
See you all the dry side of Songkran. Keep
safe, Moo, Rony and Kim.
Peter Malhotra sits down for a quiet
dinner, trying to keep out of the way of the Landlord
Johny Live with The Young's Stuart and
Moo. Moo with a very daring little skirt on
Stephen Leather with his lovely daughter
Sam
Stephen signs another copy of Private
Dancer for Jim
Simon Philbrook with his take away Carvery
specially prepared by Ae, and that man Wanchai again with that
shirt on
Only beautiful people can play pool in
Jameson's how did he get in there? No seriously a nice crowd
playing pool, whilst everybody else fretted over the football
The reason why Peter was trying
to keep out of the way of the Landlord, so he could talk to
Harpic
The return of Wonder Woman, and
Jay Jay
The Mighty Geoff Evans, with top
Malaka Simon Philbrook
Everybody wants a free Johnnie Walker
promotion shirt and the only person to get one is Wanchai although
My Jimmy and Young Steve are prepared to fight for one
Bam Bam pours the cold beer
Pat comes storming through with
the Jameson's Fajitas
The Beautiful Pat
Cheers,
