Diary No. 243 Week of 9th November
2009 - 22nd November 2009 Updated 26th November 2009
F.A
Pattaya Rock The Pub
Apologies for last week,
mass computer problems stopped us from printing up our regular
column, but here you are this week with a double dose. But so
many things have happened it is difficult to keep up with all
the news. Saturday night saw a very agreeable night in
Jameson’s, with the Pattaya Panthers
Rugby Club led by the amazing Jimmy Howard
coming in and using both plan A and plan B, which is to watch
rugby (we had 3 rugby games to watch) and the drinking bit comes
quite naturally when you are in the company of said Mr.
Howard, Joe Grunwell, Graham MacDonald, Dez Halls, Big Dave
Johnson, J.K and Family, with undoubtably Dai
& Porn Coe leading the way. The F.C Pattaya Football team had about as
much luck this week as many Cricket, Rugby, & Football
teams flying under the England banner,
they set off from Jameson’s on Saturday afternoon
with a strong team only to reach the ground & find it water
logged, therefore they had to turn round and come back for an
early Carvery at Jameson’s without actually
kicking a ball. But did this dampen their spirits, no not a
bit of it. Straight back in the pub, and the celebrations were
nearly as big as last weeks when they won. These boys certainly
add a sparkle to Saturday night. Paul
Derbyshire won the Man of the Match
award, by the simple process of self nomination, there was yet
another wonderful rendition of “There is only one Kim
Fletcher” and good fun was had by all. With the
stalwarts leaving way after England and Brazil had
kicked the last ball.
Sunday morning
saw everybody up and about bright and breezy to watch the amazing
Manny Paquio wins another exciting boxing match.
This one I did not need to record as sitting in the front row
were Simon Quigley, Eoin & Shelley Quirke with Family,
Dano, and Graham Watkins keeping his Superman
Alter Ego very quiet. Dai Coe and The Landlord sat quietly at Nova
Table and continuously got the prediction of each round
wrong. The Everest Expedition has now become a very
much talked about item around the table, Derek Hunter
and Young Steve Page are here to assure everybody that
they are actually going. Whilst Paul Dobbs
is away marching up and down sand dunes in preparation for the
event. It is a brave decision to make to set off on this expedition,
but the enthusiasm is limitless with everybody getting involved,
Paul Strachan of The Pattaya Mail, Ian the Lady Di of
Harrington lending his considerable knowledge, Dennis
& Lek will be preparing a list of laundered item
to be prepared. But support is coming from all directions including
Rob & Wit, Graham Woo, Cricket Geoff, Rock ‘n’
Roll Ashley, RayC, Stephen Ryser, all babbling on about
climbing rocks.
As well as Peter Mack making the library his
own Peter's Bar on many an occasion, so has
The Mighty Sam Peebles this week ably assisted
of course by the Jameson's Youth/Age Policy
including RayC, Steve, and Bill Page, Eddie, Steve,
The new Jamo's Bouncer Derek, Geordie Derek, and all.
What a weekend we have coming up as well the usual high jinks
on Friday with young Ken in
town for Friday night then on Saturday
night we have FIVE live Rugby games
(please check our Sports Schedule for all the
times). So plenty of action there with a full Football
schedule as well. So expect a perfect blend of Panthers,
Panties and F.C. Pattaya's on Saturday night
with Wanchai rushing around trying to juggle
all the sports onto all the T.V screens. Nova Gold Hotel will open it's doors this
Monday, bookings now being taken for an in depth look
at Pattaya's newest and best Hotel please click
on the Nova Group Logo on the side of this
page.
Paul Derbyshire is presented with the Barman Bob of Jameson’s
award for Man of the Match for Jameson’s very own F.C
Pattaya. Paul had a good all round game for F.C Pattaya both
on and off the pitch. Last week F.C Pattaya played against the
Bangkok Metrological office and won handsomely
The one snag to being Man of the Match is you have to drink
it all down in one
The new Jameson’s F.C Pattaya shirt will never actually
look this good on any of the players. But of course this is
also as close as Brian Abbott is actually going to get at wearing
one
Nova Table with Stuart Daly
The Young Ones. Marcus & Todd
Alice has to hold up Todd & Marcus
Stuart Daly about to do something illegal… Sing
Now… This is what we have come to expect a little more
class at Jameson’s, the beautiful Shelley with Eoin Quirke.
How Eoin got overlooked for the James Bond role we shall never
know
Just to be fair a picture of Young Steve with Alice
The Opening of The Nova Cliff with of course catering by none
other than Wanchai and his staff from Jameson’s
Getting ready for the weekend, Paul Slack and Young Steve, if
you come into the pub at the weekend and see these two getting
ready to party there is only one thing to do.... Run
The point of this photo was to show how many glasses of Graham
MacDonald’s favorite drink (vodka & soda with a twist
of lemon) can mount up in front of you in a matter of minutes.
Graham MacDonald has always been a trend setter of course and
as you can see the trend has even filtered down to the younger
generation, Thank goodness the 4 glass rule only applies in
Jools not Jameson’s as well
Dai Coe with the lovely Charlie & Alice, Dai always
was one for the girls
Jameson’s on Saturday
Marcus gets his first taste of a Jameson’s El Diabolo
Fluid Asia’s beautiful girls often come to Jameson’s
& here is one beauty drinking a fine pint of Fluid Asia’s
Draught Stawford Press Cider
The Paul Jackson shot, Kim Fletcher, Paul Jackson, & Stuart
Daly
Captain Alice with a happy Brian Abbott
Paul Slack with the camera hogging Alice
Captain Steve (Jester) Ponter
is back from South Africa, so the joviality
around the table has increased somewhat. Rugby
at the weekend has been traumatic & successful in many ways
(just look at the Scotland vs. Australia game). But having to
show so many games all at the same time has sometimes caused
The Landlord's head to spin off. England
winning a cricket game helped to put it back on though.
Nice to see Big Ken Fricsay in the pub for
the weekend, great fun having lunch at Bruno's with
Graham & Dai even though it took a day to get over,
after trying more than one World of Wine flavors.
Good to also see Charlie Gawthorne in the pub
our new meat man. F.C Pattaya go from strength
to strength winning last week 3-2. Although they will have to
go a bit to catch up with Pattaya City who
have now won 8 games out of 8. Nine if you include the Boat
Race won against both Pattaya Cricket Club
and The Pattaya Panthers Rugby Club (well done Harpic),
F.C Pattaya have certainly made a good name
for themselves now in Jameson's with their
weekly visits which have become one of the Jameson's
highlights of the week. Paul Slack ringing
up to let us know when they are coming and just off the expressway.
Certainly it appears we have a very exciting 12 months in front
of us. But first we have the delights of the festive Christmas
Season in front of us. You can see the Christmas
Day Menu on this page, please make sure your bookings
go through myself Landlord Kim, or General
Managers Moo or Wanchai, and are then written down
with your contact telephone number and your position put down
on the Christmas table map. Turning up on Christmas
Day mumbling something about you sure you mentioned
something to Lola in September or just blaming
J.J for your lost booking will not actually carry much
weight. Let's face it if you're not at Jamo' on Christmas
Day you're not in the right place. New Year's Eve this year will be the same as
last year, just running the pub as normal, no band, no big buffet,
just the regular menu, with regular drinks, all at the regular
prices, with our regular friends. We will of course as usual
all go mad at midnight and see in the new year with champagne,
“Auld Ang Saign” and all the New
Year festivities, you also of course can see all the
fantastic firework displays from the Royal Cliff
all the way down to the Dusit from Jameson's
without having to get caught up in the New Year's
traffic. Have a great weekend, Kim.
Bjorn of Norway starts to unload the Christmas Gnomes for

he is just not very good at making his mind up as to what to

managed to be elected Man of the Match from some pretty strong
competition from Alder shot Dave. Nico is seem here drinking
his just reward a giant Margarita in Jameson's (next door to
the newly opened Nova Gold Hotel) The Margarita must have been
good Nico mistakenly took home Charlie's kit which must of given
him a bit of a shock on Sunday morning

This is when Thursday night went seriously wrong it wasn't Ray,
Young Steve & The Mighty Sam Peebles singing (if I may say
so even worse than Brian Abbotts) it was when Dai Coe decided
to drink real Banana Daiquiri in amongst drinking the entire
top shelf & drinking Jamo's out of Port. The Root of All
Evil Malcolm Clare would have been proud of him
