Jesters Charity
Drive 2008
Here
we go into 2008's Jesters Charity Drive. We
are now in our 11th year for a full history
of the Charity Drive please look up the Care4Kids
website which has a link at the side of this page. The
Fair will be held at the Diana Driving Range
and Resort on Sunday 14th September, starting at 10.a.m.
This is a wonderful event. Keep an eye on the Pattaya
Mail every week for updates on what is happening and
where. Lots of action on the stages, many stalls for you to
browse round and perhaps buy the odd thing, Judi McNamara
will again be running the second hand book stall under the
Easy Rider Banner (Jameson's is a
collecting point for all your second hand books, and we are
collecting now so please bring along any books you have that
you really do not want anymore, so we can sort them out into
categories. It is a fantastic way to make money as their is
no cost and all money goes to the kids). There are also many
other stalls, plenty of food stalls, 'Pat's Pies' and
'Belgian Patrick's' always being amongst Kim
Fletcher, the Fat Landlord of Jameson's choice. Then
of course there is The Jesters Beer Tent. This
is truly a tent of many wonders Neil Sandilands
always makes sure that the beer is ice cold, with help from
the likes of Jeff Paladeau, and Paul Baker and
the rest of the Jesters, there is a marvelous
beer garden at The Diana Driving Range and Resort,
so that after you have had a wander round the stalls and done
your bit, (Had a go on Stephan Ryser's stall,
or perhaps gone to see Bert from Tropical Bert's Pub
on the British Legion stall, a must stop is
Mike Franklin's Children's Fair Children's Raffle),
you have somewhere to relax and catch up with friends old and
new. The best bit about the beer tent is though that all the
beer is donated by various bars and individuals so again all
the money taken goes directly to the kids. So the more beer
you drink the more money goes to the children. Overseeing the
whole Fair is the marvelous Kevin Mitch
of Blue Parrot fame, Kevin has been
organizing the logistics of the Fair now for
many years, and I do not know what we would do without him now.
Always in attendance is Lewis (Woody) Underwood
who this year has stepped down from being President
of the Jesters Motorbike Club, so he had concentrate
his undivided attention to the Charity Drive
because this little baby we have created is now a 12 month of
the year operation. The stage entertainment is organized by
Rick Bryant and Pop, of Pop's Pattaya All Stars,
with shows from acrobatic teams, all the schools in the district
put on some form of show, and trying to keep some form of order
on the stage is Poodle Pete and Neil Smith.
Now the Fair is on Sunday 14th September
starting at 10.00 a.m. at the Diana Driving Range and Resort
on the corner of Pattaya North Road and Sukumvit,
and do not worry there is ample parking.
Then on Saturday 20th September we have the
Jesters Party Night at Jameson's the Irish Pub starting at 6.00
p.m., and as it say's in the title it is a party, lot's
of bands on stage. Look out for Sister Joan
and the other sisters sitting quietly in a corner somewhere,
but always keen to talk to anybody, who would like to know more
about The Fountain of Life, Paul Jackson and Andy Francis
will again be MC's Lewis (Woody) Underwood
will be keeping us up to date with what is going on and how
much etc, last year Jeff Paladeau, and Graham MacDonald
found before hidden talents as auctioneers for the various items
in the auction. The Auction is already running
as you are reading this just press the Auction
link at the side of this page to see all the items up for sale
and if you see anything you fancy, put in a bid which will then
be put up on site, The Jesters Auction list
is also on many other sites around Pattaya.
As we get nearer to the event, this link will also show the
prizes for the Raffle and also Mike
Franklin's Children's Raffle at the Fair. Watch out
for the spotters during the auction last year Bob (Scar)
Taylor was a show in himself. Lynden and Ingrid
(Our Tooth Fairy) rush around like maniacs making sure
that everybody is happy, and gets what they want from the auction
or collect their winnings from the raffle. Wild Bill
stands in the back keeping control of everything in his quiet
unassuming way. Whilst The Pattaya Mail record
everything for posterity. The Night is meant
as a celebration of 12 month's activity. Keep an eye out too
for Captain Steve Ponter, a man who since he
has joined the Jesters Charity Drive has had
an absolute fire of passion in his heart for the cause, and
just as you think you have bid for something, Steve
will come in and gazzump you. Jon Fox and Ray
Matti are pretty good at that too, although last year
they were all out done by Andy Latimer. Of
course none of this could happen without our fabulous sponsors,
to find out who they are (or if you want to participate in any
way). Please look up our website at www.care4kids.info
