Birthdays,
Rugby, and some awkward moments this week
Birthdays
galore this week, and major mile stones they were too
both Tracy Fletcher, and Jake Bryant passing
their 21st Birthday. Jay Jay our
lovely Bartender also reached a certain Birthday.
All of which were jolly good fun. Jake Bryant's on Saturday,
had a Birthday straight out of Roy
of the Rovers, he scored the winning goal for Pattaya
City to put them top of the league, everybody turned
up to wish him Happy Birthday, and at the end
of the night he got the girl. Jake may all
of the rest of your life turn out this way. Pattaya City are now top of the league, and
deservedly so winning away to the top team, when you are the
only team in the league from Pattaya, makes
all the away games doubly tough, so congratulations guys, here's
to a good season.
The Rugby on the Telly was well appreciated
this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday, by
a large though I would not say totally knowledgeable crowd.
(Lets just say any team that Simon Philbrook
backs, put the house on the other one). But it was nice to see
lots of Panthers and Panties in the bar including
Skipper Eoin Quirke, and the lovely Shelley,
Rick, and Harpic, Mickey (The T-Shirt) Price, lots
of the Pattaya City Football team stayed to
watch the rugby and I think learnt a thing or two!!!! Great
chatting to Lisa Lurve during the course of
the evening via e-mail. Really good to see a galless Simon
Edmonds back in the bar on full form, the cranberry
juice took a real hammering. The Jameson's Football
Captain Brian Abbott and lovely wife Lee, David Dobbs,
who as predictable in the Dobbs family did
not leave on time but stayed for an extra week which was nice
for us all. Bryan Clayton has done a wonderful
job of keeping us all amused around Nova Table,
just ask Dez about the hat story.
Shaun and Bryan have a quick chat at
the bar about last Saturday's CUEL Grand Golf Classic, the talk
obviously went very well except that neither of them remembered
to take hats with them, only one of them managed to get on the
same side as Birmingham Jimmy, so one of them came in the first
place team and one of them came in the last place team. As usual
the Tournament was magnificently organized by Steve Hovi. Word
is that the TQ Classic the previous day was marvelous too. Sitting
in the background is Ron Keeley from World of Wines
Nova Table starts to warm up with
the likes of Dez, Shaun and Bryan, Fat Landlord Kim Fletcher,
and B.C.C.T. types Greg Watkins and Graham MacDonald (The Font
of All Knowledge)
Happiness at Jameson's
The
CUEL last Saturday and the T.Q Golf last Friday tournaments
were obviously very successful well done to Steve Hovi
and Woody respectively. Birmingham Jimmy
excelled himself in the CUEL tournament by
dragging a winning team round to become champions being all
the more extraordinary as the team included Mickey Mouse
Shaun and The Mighty Sam Peebles. Bryan Clayton got
himself a sun burn and some tennis equipment to practice with
for next year. (But still had a good time) Iain Corness really has built up an enormous
Formula One Grand Prix Group that groups at
Jameson's for every Formula One Race
in the sports room. Half an hour before the Racing
started last Sunday there was not a spare seat
in front of a television to watch the race (The Landlord
even had to turn his T.V over from watching the cricket to put
it on Formula One). So if you want to watch
the last and final exciting race next week, from Brazil
even though it is a bit late I would still turn up early if
you want a prime seat. Dr. Iain has already
booked his. By the way Iain Corness has nearly
finished Volume Two of his popular book Farang,
as soon as it is released I shall let you know. Mike Franklin was in the bar looking for his
Parrott. Loads of good folk around the bar,
'Eyes' Paul, Young Steve, Stuart and Moo, Ron Keeley
and Weaw (Weaw looking particularly
lovely in here World of Wines get up). Ron
looked So-So. Dez has set up meetings with
Mickey Price to organize some hats and raincoats.
Bryan Clayton has booked being the first customer.
Kevin
Alan arrives back and chats away to Young Steve
The new staff Ton, Ploy, Party & Junior Tuk
Nova Table gets moving with Weaw, Keeley, Dez the Jameson's
fastest hat seller, David Dobbs, Fat Landlord Kim Fletcher,
Gregarious Greg, and Ron Keeley of World of Wines
Alan at his end, whilst Dennis prepares for Football the following
day in a lovely red shirt
This really is the long and the short of it. Ron Keeley of World
of Wine fame, and a pretty fine bass player, talks to Rick Bryant
(of the Von Bryant Tribe). Rick (who is a friend to Pop and
Pops Pattaya All Stars, Manager of Pattaya City Football Club,
Honorary Jester, Head of the Softball gang, something to do
with Foster Wheeler, and leader of the Von Bryant Gang) about
this 1972 Les Paul Bass after watching Ron play of few tunes
on this bass made the Landlord give up his reams of Rock Stardom,
as there was not enough time left. (Not to learn how to play
the bass guitar but lose enough weight to have it not resting
upon his stomach). Ron is as talented on the bass guitar as
Wanchai is at catching bass out in the ocean, this is meant
as a compliment to both
Ron really does look a natural with a bass in his hands as Wanchai
does with a bass in his hands
We're going to get the band back together again, "Play
Something You Know” with Rick and Harpic Bryant, and the
other Mr. Bass man George
Oh harping back to
the packed house at Jameson's last Sunday,
a fact I am very fond of doing. Don't forget we have 13 ordinary
screens, three 42'' plasma screens and Wanchai's
enormous 100''x 100'' screen to pack round so that's lot of
folk well done Iain. Plus the fact that for
an hour before the rain I have never seen such a heavy rain
storm accompanied by thunder and lighting. The Landlord
was hiding under the table.
Some people are off at work whilst others are off on holiday.
Rony Fineman is off to the Maldives,
with his family and deserves a holiday after this week starting
several new hotels, and condominiums, entertaining guests at
his Movie Production Premiere, but he's only
away for 5 days and so will be back before this is printed to
get his teeth into a new project as long as he does not take
up ballooning, I'll keep my mouth shut. Ray and Curly
Wurly are away. Ray went to theMonaco Grand Prix this weekend, and ended up
having to watch theChina Grand Prix
on the telly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Root is
still away in darkest Africa no doubt building
up a thirst again. Nice to hear from Mottman Colin Powell
who is chomping on the bit to get here as no doubt so are Big
Dave Beckett and Iris and Tony Ritchie. Always good
to see Scottish Derek, the wonderful Greg
Watkins, and Gregarious Greg, Dave, Stuart
and Moo, Anthony, and the Big Man
himself rugby fan extraordinaire Big John,
somehow both Johny Live and Ian (Lady Di) Harrington,
managed to stay out of the photos, Paul and Keaw Strachan,
who have mostly hidden themselves away since their fantastic
wedding party. Talking of parties, Garfield
sounds like he has a stormer coming up.
Peter Mack
has completely taken over the library area in the last week
and will do so for a further week, great for everybody and a
nicer bunch of people you could not wish to meet.
For those of you who like their Rock 'n' Roll Casino
Steel and Honest John will be back in November/December
to play some gigs more of this as Ilearn about it, and to see
some of the finest Rock 'n' Roll ever played
all you have to do is go on www.youtube.com and punch in Nutz/Rage
and watch the two first songs that appear. Our friends Nutz
should of been Household names in any decent
Rock 'n' Roll Household.
We are already starting to collect items
for next years Jesters Care4Kids Charity Auction
(many thanks to the generous donators). But we shall not be
updating the website till next year, but it is still quite fun
to, have a look at last year site and see who paid what for
what, and who donated what.
More on the actual sporting front (as opposed to the sitting
in front of the T.V sort). Last Sunday of the
month thisSunday,
and that means Softball at Horseshoe Point,
combat normally starting about 3.30 p.m., plenty
for all the family to do, all ages welcome, Horseshoe
Point laying on good grub, beer and soft drinks great
fun. I suppose I had better take Dez out there
as I have let him down twice on the golf front. (Sorry Dezzy).
But a big Thank you to Rich Wibrow, for an
invitation to the TQ Masters, and a Big Thank
you too to Steve Hovi for an invite to the
CUEL Classic. Captain Steve (Jesters) Ponter has been out
this week, handing out Certificates of Appreciation
for the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2008,
the charity work never finishes. Young Steve and the Youth Policy are always
a good crack to have round the bar, and although I cannot quite
squeeze Geoff into the Youth Policy,
it's nice to have somebody who knows about Cricket
in the pub. Great to get text messages and e-mails from Ian
and his lovely and fun wife Pat Dickson, although
I must say it seems funny that Ian at the moment
would rather talk about the New Zealand Cricket
rather than the Australian.
An Orange Smoothie is not always the best drink in the world
to drink at the Nova Table, as you can see Clayton is horrified
which seems a bit unfair as he bought it
Another 21st Birthday last Saturday was the lovely Tracy
Fletcher's
The two Franks, one Frank has not got a black eye, it's just
that he has not yet learnt how to use his mascara yet. Although
I will admit that the other frank looks quite amused
Captain Brian Abbott, Top Hat salesman Dez, Fat Landlord Kim,
and the lovely Shelley at Nova Table
Captain Brian Abbott, the returning John (J.K) Kennedy and Hatman
Dez
Three great minds get together for a chat before the Heineken
Cup on Saturday Pattaya Panthers Rugby Captain Eoin Quirke,
the Galless Simon Edmonds, and The Font of All Knowledge Graham
MacDonald (Great Minds). I shall have to have a break after
typing that
Simon Philbrook looks on with that pensive look on his face
as yet again his favorite team take the hard way of winning
a football game, it's alright the smile came back onto his face
once the final winning goal went in
Jake's Birthday, his second birthday in a row in Jameson's ....
By choice so it cannot be all bad!
Captain Brian Abbott and his lovely wife Lee
Ron of World of Wine, put that bass guitar
down it is not yours
The safest place in the bar to sleep
is.............................
Now here is a collection of photos for
you Saturday night saw many celebrations. The most important
of which was the 21st Birthday of Jake Bryant, which he celebrated
with two cakes, friends and family, plus a whole load of San
Miguel. To make things even better, it was the day of the away
game for the Pattaya City Football team, against Bangkok's Bull's
Head. Before the game both teams had played three and won three.
Well now after Pattaya City won 2-3, Pattaya City are the only
team in the league to have a 100% record. Unbelievably the winning
goal was scored by Jake Bryant when he collected the ball 30
yards out from the goal swiveled and shoot sending the ball
into the top left hand corner of the goal. As you can see a
good time was had by all and sundry
Great to see Youth Policy
returning in the shape of Chicken Nick, Ashley and Joules.
Just hope Geordie Derek is holding up in the
U.K.
A Big Thanks as usual to the wonderful Good Guy Number
One Peter Bevis for his great contribution to the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive.
Always good to get e-mails from Big Dave, Muffy, Ian
Harrington, and Keith Mulholland.
For a full look at the sports schedule this week please look
up our sports page which is updated every week on Monday.
But if there is a special event that you want to see and it
is not on the schedule please ask, as funnily enough we often
miss things out or get the wrong times.
If you are looking for something fun to do as a couple, or as
a family on Halloween night, please look up
the Pattaya Community Players link on the left
hand side of the page as we look at it, as they have organized
some fun and high jinx for that night at Horseshoe Point.
Was great fun during the week e-mailing with our old friend
Moaya, brought back many a memory or two, Kim.
The Harrisson's
have a new Car!
Harpic may look as if she is being a
bit unsociable here but actually she was texting Lisa on the
importance of keeping your salad fresh. It was nice to have
constant communication between Lisa and the gang on Saturday
night
The lovely Deborah Lightley
Dez, Simon (by now with his slippers
on), Simon Philbrook, now a happy man that Liverpool have overcome,
Kim, and Graham
A very happy Derek
Bryan Clayton gets the drinks in
for the staff on behalf of Jay Jay's Birthday, and very appreciative
everybody was too, especially Dave as you can tell
Dez, and Bryan get down to the series
business of exactly what shape of hat and design Bryan wants
Dez's Junior, Landlord Kim, tries
to help Dez to convince Bryan he needs a hat
Our Assistant Head Bartender Jay
Jay enjoys her Birthday at Jameson's
The Rugby kicks off (The Heineken Cup)
and things get a bit more serious around Nova Table Captain
Eoin Quirke with his lovely wife Shelley, The Font of All Knowledge
Graham MacDonald, and Rick who now that the Football is over
is concentrating on the San Miguel
Debbie and Jameson's Manageress Ae
It was not me it was him
Happiness at Jameson's
As far as watching Football in the
bar we had a bit of a set back last week, as you can see the
Telly, we keep specially for the Middlesborough games and the
Reading games has gone into mourning. The less said about the
Middlesborough game the better, and as for Reading! Thank goodness
we were only played Preston North End. Thank goodness we weren't
playing the whole of Preston not just the North end Bit
Tony
& Wanchai on their Fishing Trip
arranged by Wanchai
