The
Soft ball this Sunday 27th
It's Softball
time again, as much fun as you can have with your clothes on
(and if your lucky Harpic will make a lie of
that). It's the Jameson's San Miguel Cup Softball Competition
on Sunday 27th April at about 3 o’clock
in the afternoon, at Horseshoe Point, now if
you do not know where Horseshoe Point is have
a look at the map on the Pattaya Panthers link
on this page. Great fun at Horseshoe Point,
lot's of things to do apart from the Softball,
they have a complete zoo there pretty obviously horses, the
wonderful pool is available all day, restaurants, laughter,
and most importantly lots of free flowing San Miguel and afterwards
all back to the pub to watch the Formula One Grand Prix
at 6.30 with Iain Corness. See you
there on Sunday.
Songkran
is now over and you can put your best bib and tucker back on,
many braved it through the on slaughter to get to Jameson's
this week. The Diving fraternity supported
us very well with two huge parties, one to watch a rerun of
the glorious victory by Joe Calzaghe, which
not only pleased most in the pub, but I know as well that Sid
Silk was delighted particularly as he had predicted
exactly the right outcome, and a had a nice phone call from
Wales favourite son Mike Watkins
to celebrate the victory. The other Welsh Watkins Graham
(also a favourite son of Wales) was dismayed
to arrive at the pub at 10 o’clock. The
predicted start of the fight to look up on the screen to see
Joe Calzaghe hand being raised in victory,
as the fight had started earlier than our calculations had allowed
still Graham was happy to settle back with
his Fish and Chips, and watch the replay. We
actually replayed the fight four times last Sunday.
The youth policy of Jameson's has been in particularly
fine form this week in the shape of Young Steve and
Young Paul joined by my Jimmy, Ashley, Ian,
Ray, and Ray, Stuart, Captain Steve (who as each week
passes by gets more and more fire in his chest for the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive. Don't forget folks
the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive will be
holding their annual fair on Sunday 14th September,
at the Diana Driving Range and Resort, starting
at 10 o’clock. Jameson's
will be running it's famous second hand book stall so while
you are mouching about at home, and you realize you have hundreds
of books lying around that you no longer need please bring them
into Jameson's so we can sort them out, and
get them ready for the fair, it's a great way of making money,
you give us the books, we sell them and then we give the money
to the kids, followed by the Jesters Care4Kids Party
Night, at the pub Jameson's on Saturday 20th
September, we already have Mike Gerrard and
Pop's Pattaya All Stars plus special guests booked
to play music for your good selves Paul Jackson and
Andy Francis will be compeering the event, Woody
and all the Jesters will be there, and of course running
everything behind the scenes will be Ingrid
our Toothfairy. The Auction
finale takes place that night, and at present our auction site
has just been updated by our man Ron Keeley,
so have a look at the side link on this page (and many others)
at our newly updated auction list. Captain Steve
still has yet to play the joker card for this year’s grand
raffle yet.
We have
had lovely visits from all sorts of people Rony Fineman
is rushing about al over the place. The Mighty Geoff
Evans has given the Landlord a new
pulse, Judi McNamara, was her lovely self on
Sunday. Rick and Harpic have
been bursting with enthusiasm as ever. It's Rick's Birthday
weekend on Saturday and Sunday 10th and 11th May,
more of this next week when we have settled on the events. Simon
and Debbie came in for a lovely evening before running
away from all the water. Jimmy Howard is also
dashing about setting up the Chris Kays Memorial Rugby
Pattaya Tens, as usual Jimmy has got
everything under control, the only thing he needs from everybody
else is to turn up at Horseshoe Point on Saturday and
Sunday 3rd and 4th May to enjoy some spectacular rugby,
and the full entertainment provided by Horseshoe Point.
Fun for everyone, with loads of food and booze available to
boot. The Root of All Evil made a triumphant return,
this week dragging along with him in his wake Blowfly
and Hoser. Sadly yet again Malcolm
has had to go back to work again, but at least that gives us
all time to recover before his next visit. Talking of raving
mad Dobsy was dishing out the tequilas with
gay abandon on Sunday, I am writing this still
felling the effects.
Terry Schofield of No Fixed Abode shows Linus the benefits
of a solid forward defense
After the Chang Mai Sixes were yet again
a great success, Landlord Kim Fletcher, and the man who has
no fear of organization Maurice Bromley sit and talk cricket
over a couple of wet ones
James is not hiding, he is actually
trying to help promote Heineken
Kretch tries to see if it is true
that if you push hard you can actually push your finger between
the Landlord's ears
Lots
of good folk will be making appearances this week, Ray
Matti and Curly are coming down from the lakes for a
couple of days, Big Dave Hoyle will be using
his seat on Friday and Saturday, John Hagan will
be popping in to see the Landlord about the standard
of the weekly diary. Jon Fox will make a rare
but always welcome appearance. Sadly Andy McTighe
will be flying off again, next time Andy try
not to come over the Songkran Holiday! Ian
Harrington our Executive Deputy, Junior, Assistant Trainee Manager,
did an excellent job in the pub whilst the Landlord
was playing chicken at home keeping dry. The Roving Ambassador
Mark Stubbs is also back. Terry Schofield of
No Fixed Abode, is doing terrible things to his handicap.
The Font of All Knowledge has had a marvellous
week swapping anecdotes with Sid Silk, and the
Landlord himself, has enjoyed reading the banter but
hardly feeling he is of the correct calibre to join in. I have
also enjoyed my early morning conversations with Muffy
Kerr, who is embarrassingly cheerful in the morning.
The Pattaya City Football Team are tantalizingly
one point away from securing the championship, we wait with baited
breathe. Steve's little football team are keeping
us either on the edge of our seats or hiding behind the sofa my
advice would be for Peter Bevis to take Steve
out and get him Jameson drunk, that might shake
things up a bit.
The usual suspects that make the pub tick have all played their
share in the frivolities, the Payne's Jason, Nui, and
Leo, The Keeley's, Ron, Weaw, and young James, of WOW
fame (do have a look at The World of Wines wine
list at Jameson's on our website). Bob
the Builder Stuart the complete set Stuart, Moo,
Sophie and James. Lek and Dennis have
been keeping the Pattaya City Football Team and the Pattaya
Panthers Rugby Team clean, I mean the kit not what goes
in 'em, Rob and wit, Brian Abbott the Jameson's Football
Player/Coach/Manager/ Waterboy was away over Songkran,
but is back. Sam Peebles will also return this
week after being trained trained for what I am not sure! Could
be anything couldn't it? Johny Live has as always
been dashing about in his outrageous shirts, putting a smile on
everybody's face.
Linus with friend
Linus about to order another mind numbing
round of Kamikazes
Always good to see Eoin and Shelley
burst through the door, surrounded by a huge entourage of folks,
The Panthers have got a busy time coming up
with visits from the Old Bill Rugby team from
Hong Kong following on the Chris Kays
Pattaya Tens Rugby Tournament.
Not forgetting everybody that if you need more information on
the Jesters Care4kids Charity Drive, you can
pick up bumper stickers, brochures and copies of last years
programme from Jameson's or see Woody
or Wild Bill down at Tahitian Queen
for the fantastic new promotional shirts we have.
Never seen so many Geordies in the bar as last
Sunday, everybody seemed very happy even got
text messages from Mottman Colin Powell, and Big Dave,
but young Paul didn't seem so happy! But on
the bright side Derek of Blue Bar, Darren and Top of
the Pops, were doing cart wheels.
On another note Linus..... Try info@jamesons-pattaya.com
For those of you with keen eyesight, you will notice that there
are very few photos in the diary this week, this is because
some swine stole the Landlord's camera, which
is a real shame as we had some lovely pub photos in the camera,
plus some wonderful pictures of my family enjoying Songkran,
and even some pictures of the lovely socks my dear old Mum
knitted for me, but they are all gone now as well. What good
stealing a digital camera does anybody, I am not sure as you
need all the leads on it to download the pictures anyway, and
we still have those plus the battery charger. Perhaps she or
he wanted the picture of my socks! Anyway it just goes to prove
that although you meet a lot of nice people in this life, some
are not. Normal service will be resumed next week, with perhaps
even a new picture of my socks.
If you notice
whilst in the pub that the window is missing behind Nova
Table, no that has not been stolen as well! Steve
Gormley the world's leading ice cutter is making us
a new splendid piece of glass to put in its place, photos of
the unveiling of this will be broadcast across the world. Nice
to see Johnny Fox of the wonderful Q
Cars come and join us for a few beverages on, Tuesday,
but sadly it was goodbye to Andy and Paul for
a little while.
Beware to the world this is what can happen to you if you score
a Duck (or two) at the Chang Mai Sixes,
as Max found out. Pictures courtesy of Bernard.
As you can
see we have bought a new camera and on Wednesday
night I was diving round the pub trying to take enough photos
to at least give the diary a little colour. But my thanks go
out to Ron Keeley, who dug deep and found some
lovely photos from before, the ones of James and John,
Linus and Terry Schofield the cricketer, and Bernard
for his candid shots of Malaka's Duck Champion Max.
But as ever good folk in the bar on Wednesday, Gap,
Steve Graham, Terry Schofield, a pit stop from Jonny
Fox of Q Cars, the return of Brian Abbott
with some wonderful looking samples of his sisters wine (Thumbprint)
which we will keep under wraps until the arrival back of Mr.
Wine himself Richard Waller of the
splendid World of Wines, whose pub wine list
can be seen at the link on the side of this page. So we can
have Richard's considered opinion on young
Maggie's wine. Sean was in
for a few Steve Hogi cracked under the pressure
as usual, (soda water indeed).
Always nice to have Paul Slack in the bar,
another person who is always smiling, a Happy Birthday
this week coming up is Paul Powis on Sunday 27th.
And yes Sid we did raise our glasses on St.
Georges Day.
Have a fantastic week, Kim, Moo, and Rony.
James Keeley and Little John Fletcher
work out how to share the prestigious TQ golf hat
The Mighty Geoff Evans, being Mighty,
and the first person to have his photo taken by the new all
bangs, and flashes new camera at Jameson's
Always willing to have a quick snap are
Bob the Builder set Stuart and Moo Young. They must have some
secret we don't know about as they are always smiling
Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Price sitting
in Jameson's. Mickey in collaboration with Manageress Moo and
Floor Manager Ae, have come up with a new line of fashion ware
for Jameson's with some new girls T-Shirts, have seen the designs
and layouts etc plus the material, they should be very impressive.
Mickey and Chiam are sitting here after the meeting trying to
work out how Moo managed to get the price down so low! Hey a
deal is a deal!
Gap tucks into some good old Jameson's
food
Ian and Stuart enjoy themselves
The Jameson's Youth policy project
at work, Young Paul, Young Steve, and Young Ray, looking after
Ian
Shaun, Geoff, and Steve on Nova
Table submitting to having their photo taken by a determined
Landlord
The Mighty Geoff Evans with Sledge
(he's called Sledge because he always used to be pulled by dogs,
Thanks to Sam Peebles for that little bit of information)
What a line up Captain Steve Ponter
the man with fire in his belly, for the Jesters Charity Drive
2008 (with this in mind do not forget the dates for the main
events this year, the Fair will be on Sunday 14th September
at the Diana Driving Range and Resort, followed by the Party
Night at Jameson's on Saturday 20th September, on the Party
Night there will be a stunning Charity Auction which can be
checked out on the links at the side of this page. Steve has
also just done another fantastic sponsorship deal with Glencore
more details of this after the Jesters meeting next week). Bob
the Builder Stuart and Jason
Bob behind his bar, there is no
mistaking who is in charge of this bar
As promised a quick photo of the
latest fashions being displayed at Jameson's. Ae with her very
trendy senior executive black socks and the Landlord with a
splendid pair of multi coloured socks, knitted by the fair hand
of his own mother
Received
this from Tony Malhotra, Pattaya Mail
To 'Quote' from the
introductory letter of the Pattaya Mail written 16 years ago,
the very first paragraph stated that:
The Pattaya Mail was introduced to the market place in 1993 to
provide a weekly local English Newspaper, which covers the news
that affects the Eastern Seaboard residents. Information that
affects local community covering politics, business, and social
happenings, which cannot be found in the Bangkok English broadsheet
newspapers. <unquote>
