March 2009
Great Week
at Jameson's
Great week
at Jameson's as we now look on beyond
theSix Nations.
Shelley Quirke's FabulousSix
NationsFantasy
League, brought a lot of fun to everybody involved.
But I'm afraid I will not be able to announce the results until
next week, as they are being held in Shelley's
top secret vault until the Presentation party at Jameson's
this week. But next week all will be revealed.
But what a cracking end to the Six Nations,
nobody could of scripted that better. Pity somebody does not
get the English girlsCricket
team coach to show the boys how to do it. England World
Champions at Cricket, not a headline I thought I would
read this year. The Premiership is literally hotting up both
at the bottom and the top. As for Reading,
well let's just say that it's is a very nervous time for all
of the Reading Football Club's Supporters Society, Pattaya
Division North.

the nickname long ago for his quick change of clothes act in
the Jameson's gents, but now he has doubled
that up by acting in a very Superman way last
Saturday. Always good to see Malcolm
Clare 'The Root of All Evil', Jimmy and Jenny Howard, my offsider
Des Hall, Ian (Lady Di) Harrington, Simon Quigley, all of the
Quirke's, with the Chris Kays Memorial Pattaya Rugby tens
coming up in May Saturday and Sunday 2nd and 3rd.
Raimonland again being the principal sponsors for more details

under way this weekend with the Qualifying on Saturday

early on Sunday at 12 Noon prompt. Jameson's
Carvery has a selection of Roasts Turkey, Beef,

A simply marvelous evening
in Jameson's with the Shelley Quirke
Fantasy League Six Nations Championship. Prizes galore.
Even Landlord Kim Fletcher got one, as well
as The Root of All Evil. The worthy winner
was Irish Tom, which was very fitting. Shelley
as ever did a marvelous job, and everybody had a good time,
various highlights from the evening include the fact that Paul
Baker beat Superman Graham Watkins, Kim and
Harpic came 10th equal in the top half of the field
even though they never bet on France. Simon
Philbrook came up with some crackers during the night
including new rules for next year which nobody understood. (I'm
sure Shelley will sort this out). Best of all
when Simon was asked if he had ever worn make-up
he replied "No Never............................... Well
there was that time I was dressed as Tina Turner!".
Linus joined in the fun and had as much fun
as anybody even though he had not actually been in the competition.
Have good week everybody enjoy the Mike Franklin Memorial
Golf Tournament, and take care of yourselves. Kim,
Rony, and Moo.
The Nova Gold Hotel gets closer and closer to being
the fully fledged item. Col Powell has already booked his room,
and The Scourge may well take up residence in November just
after the Grand Opening
Kim
Fletcher and Jameson's thoughts turn to the Jesters Care4Kids
Charity Drive 2009
The Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive is coming up very quickly. Let me just remind you of the
dates for the main events on Sunday 13th September 2009 is the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Fair at the Diana Driving Range and
Resort, which this year looks like it is going to be even bigger
and better this year than last (if that is possible). Kevin Mitch
once again stepping into the breach, and doing all the organization
in his usual brilliant military precision style. Now whilst talking
about the Fair can I also remind everybody that Jameson's amongst
other things, has a Used Book Stall at the Fair run by Judi McNamara.
The Used Book Stall is always great fun and also raises a nice
lot of money for the kids. It is simple logic. (A) You kindly
donate to us all your old used books, which can be dropped off
at Jameson's or TQ any time, the earlier the better so we can
get them sorted. (B) You come to the Fair, and then buy a lot
of good books at a cheap price, come early for the best selection.
(C) We give all the money we raise to Kevin who hands it on to
the Care4Kids Charity Drive. Easy.
The next event after the Fair is the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Party Night at Jameson's on Saturday 19th September 2009 which
will feature Paul Jackson as our compeer, Music from Mike Gerrard,
Rick and Harpic Bryant, and to bring us all to a Rockin' close
Pop's Pattaya All Stars and assorted guests. On that night there
will also be the arrival of Eric and Robert from their marathon
Charity Bike Ride always an amazing feat of endurance, the climax
to the Raffle and the fantastic Jesters Care4Kids Charity Auction.
The Auction Site is up and running, with lots of good things up
there already, all you have to do is click on the link on the
left hand side of this page and you will be whisked into Ron Keeley
of World of Wine Auction Site, there is plenty to look at and
you might even fancy putting a bid in yourself. Plenty already
have.
There are plenty of ways of helping the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive 2009, Obviously by coming to the Fair, and the Party Night,
making bids on the Auction Site, buying Raffle Tickets, buying
T-Shirts, taking a Bumper Sticker for your car, taking and reading
one of our brochures and showing them to other people (all available
at Jameson's or TQ). If you would like to know some more right
now please click on the link on the right hand side of the page
for the Jesters Care4Kids and you will go on a journey to see
all about us the website. It is regularly updated and is run by
our Chairman, Lewis (Woody) Underwood, and our Webmaster David
Smith, a very good Charity, run by some wonderful people, to help
those less fortunate than others.

Do not forget Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive main events. The

Subject: Book query
Dear Mr Fletcher,
I am somewhat disturbed
by the paragraph below which I have copied from your latest
Diary.
Now whilst talking about
the Fair can I also remind everybody that Jameson’s, amongst
other things, has a used book stall at the Fair run by Judi
McNAmara. The Used Book Stall is always great fun and also raises
a nice lot of money for the kids. It is simple logic. (A) You
kindly donate to us all your old used books, which can be dropped
off at Jameson’s or T.Q. any time, the earlier the better
so we can get them sorted. (B) You come to the Fair, and then
buy a lot of good books at a cheap price, come early for the
best selection. (C) We give all the money we raise to Kevin
who hands it on to the Care4Kids Charity Drive. Easy.
Under the “Advertising
and Promotions Bill, 1984”, it is illegal to make false
claims in any advertisement. If I understand the statements
in your promotion above there may be several false claims.
I would question the following:
1. If books are dropped
off at Jamesons does this mean they also get dropped off at
the Fair. I understand that several cartons were dropped off
on the corner of Second Road and Soi Diana one year as the Samlor
rounded the corner!
2. For some people the ‘fun’ is looking for the
bargains. Do all the best books actually arrive at the Fair,
or are some of the more expensive ones distributed around the
streets of Pattaya before the Fair starts?
3. If you arrive early, is the book stall always set up. I also
understand that one year the person running the stall was sitting
at the Fair while the books were all sitting at Shenanigans
as the Fair opened. In their haste to get to the Fair some redistribution
took place.
4. This does NOT suggest to me that getting books at the Care4Kids
Charity drive is ‘easy’.
Please be warned that concerned
citizens are watching your promotional material, and false advertising
carries a heavy penalty. This citizen will agree to drop all
potential charges against you provided you are prepared to supply
him with alcoholic beverages on April 8th this year at Jameson’s,
when he will be in the area and likely to call in.
Sincerely
Distressed Reader.

'Previews of the
Odd Couple by the Pattaya Community'
For Immediate
Release...
The Pattaya
Players (home of Pattaya's Professional Amateurs) are proud
to announce their Spring production entitled, "The Odd
Couple” (female version) on April 3-5, 2009. This full-length
play written by Neil Simon and directed by Adam Kuhl features
a cast of eight talented thespians.
The script
was born out of the male-version “The Odd Couple,”
original Broadway play, Hollywood movie and subsequent TV series
that featured Oscar Madison and Felix Unger. These two characters
quickly became an
unforgettable part of American culture. However, Neil Simon’s
more current, gender-switching rewrite outshines the original
male version in many ways. First of all, the characters of Olive
and Florence are more fully developed with an expanded range
of emotions. Also, the relationship of the group of friends
that meet each week has been broadened to reveal more of each
character and their fondness for each other.
This play takes
a look at friendship and how, through friendship, we often tolerate
the eccentricities and foibles of those closest to us. It is
very obvious that these friends who meet each week do so not
merely to play Trivial Pursuit, but also to socialize, gossip
and provide unconditional support for one another. Audience
members should prepare for uproariously funny verbal jabs, idiosyncratic
behaviors, and all-in-all out cat fights!
"I like
writing women very much," Simon said in an interview the
same year the female version opened. "Men are more closemouthed
about their real feelings, whereas women, if the situation is
right, open up." (The New York Times Magazine, May 26,
1985).
Director Kuhl
also took some liberties of his own, adapting one of the female
supporting cast members into a flamboyant gay man and casting
a diverse multinational company with varied ages. The result
is a fresh, frolicking adaptation of a cuttingly witty theatrical
presentation.
The two evening
performances on Friday April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th will
feature an optional buffet dinner component catered by the world-renowned
chefs at The Amari Hotel. Tickets for adults will be 300 Baht
(without dinner) and 1,000 Baht (inclusive of buffet). Children
under 12 may attend the show for 200 Baht (without dinner) and
900 Baht (inclusive of buffet). Sunday, April 5th will be a
matinee performance with no buffet available. Tickets can be
purchased through any board member, by e-mailing pattayaplayers@gmail.com
or by stopping by the Amari Orchid Hotel lobby in North Pattaya.
Seating is limited, but if space allows, tickets will also be
available at the door each day of the production.
Now in
the midst of their second successful year, the Pattaya Players
are seeking out corporate and private sponsors to help them
move forward throughout the new year. Please consider joining
2009 current sponsors: AA Insurance Brokers, Bangkok Pattaya
Hospital, The Cavanaugh Community Center, Chevrolet, Indian
By Nature, LCIT, Rabbit
Resort, Horseshoe Point, Casa Pascal, The Sleep Factory, St.
Andrews International School, Steps & Rhythm Dance Academy,

in helping the Pattaya Players to continue being premier creative
arts organization in Pattaya! In addition, personal memberships
are also be available to any interested party. The cost of a
