Diary No. 224 Week of 22nd June 2009
- 28th June 2009 Updated 2nd July 2009
The
end of The Lions Dream, but the start of the Landlord Loving
Aussie Rules
Well.............
Although it was nice to have three games of Rugby
to watch on Saturday. Perhaps from a
British and Irish Lions fans point of view, things
were not exactly ideal. I mean it's a bit hard to swallow a
win by the All Blacks, followed by an easy
(well they made it look easy) for the Aussies,
followed by that kick at the end of 80 minutes of Rugby between
the South African Springboks, and the British and Irish
Lions. Still that's sport. I certainly think that 'The
Font of All Knowledge' Graham MacDonald, and 'The Ratcatcher'
Jimmy Howard maybe regretting their decision to be
over in South Africa, as I know that the
Lions are now casting their net wide for a couple of
good props.
This weekend we will be showing the third and last of the
South African Springboks vs. the British Lions Test Match's
at 8.00 p.m. on Saturday 4th July. To cheer all of
the Boys up we will also be showing the Women's Wimbledon
Tennis and with the Men's following on Sunday. It's
been amazing this year with hardly any rain at all at this years
Wimbledon, the first with the much vaunted
Roof. But you can bet your bottom dollar the
rain gods are just saving it all up for the upcoming
Ashes Cricket Series between Australia and England.
Do not fear Jameson's will show every rain
drenched minute of it on the big screen with soundtrack (even
if the Aussies look like winning!).
Lots of
lovely people in this week, including the Bryant's,
Rick, Harpic, Paige and Abbi, Shelley and Eoin Quirke,
(whose daughter Bekky was a dynamic
Central Defender in the monthly Horseshoe Point
kick about, whilst the Landlord was a rather
less than Pathetic Goalkeeper). The wonderful
Geoff Evans who sadly has gone back to work,
but we get him back for the Jesters Fair on Sunday September
the 13th 2009 at the Diana Driving Range and Resort.
Geoff bought The Landlord
a present for his up coming Birthday, and once
Ron Keeley has told him how to use it. Rock
'n' Roll heaven will ensue. Kim Fletcher Landlord of
Jameson's will be celebrating his 53rd Birthday
on July 25th this year. What the Landlord would
really like as birthday presents this year are all your Old
Books, DVD's and CD's to sell at the Care4Kids
Jesters Fair on Saturday 13th September at the Diana Driving
Range and Resort. The Jameson's Used Book Stall
is a great way to earn money for the kids, as you give
us the Books, DVD's and CD's and we sell them
and give all the money to the Care4Kids Charity Drive,
books etc can be dropped off at The Pattaya Mail Office,
Tahitian Queen, Tropical Bert's and of course Jameson's.
Everything gratefully accepted.
Like I say lots of great people in during the week, the afore
mentioned Geoff Evans, Mr. and Mrs. McTighe, The Youth
Policy lead by Pagey (Steve Page), RayC, Cricket Geoff (young
at heart). Honest John, KC, Kevin Frost, Sean, Big Jim, and
Shampoo, The Bangkok Aussie Rules Tigers, Iain Corness and family.
Pattaya's sexiest man Paul Strachan, The Keeleys Ron, Weaw,
and James of the wonderful World of Wines. Thommo and the Boys
from the Light House who had a marvelous do on Friday.
Judi McNamara. Pop who has
opened his own bar on Third Road called 'Pops'.
Jack Levy, my golf partner in the Bad Guys
Simon and his beautiful wife Debbie, Steve
and Pete of the Good Guys (they are Good Guys,
but have noticed how often Good Guys are losers).
I went out and played Golf with Fleming this
week and the course beat us, although we had a really good time.
Captain Steve (Jester Care4Kids) Ponter with
his full entourage and family. The Jesters Care4Kids
Charity Committee, including John, Woody, Wild Bill, Peter Malhotra,
Judi McNamara, and the afore mentioned Debbie.
Looking forward to the arrival of Bupa Bob
this week, Bob always kicks the Pub into a
new stratosphere. The Pattaya Hash House Harriers
weekly meeting was held in it's usual boisterous manner. Talking
of Manor's Sam Peebles is back in his.
Dennis and Lek really do have the finest laundry in
town with a drop off point at Jameson's.
Well that's it from me this week, time to let Moo
get on with it and try and sort out the mess of bits that give
her. Rony Fineman and family are off on their
holidays, and we wish them a great vacation as Rony
will have a lot on his hands when he gets back as The
new Nova Gold Hotel right on Jameson's
doorstep opens in November (the new home of
Mottman).
Mark 'Thommo' Thompson, he leading Light of the Light House
The Light House Charity Organization held a Networking Night
at Jameson's on Friday 26th June 2009. It was well attended
and fun was had by all. Food and Drinks provided by Nova Group
and Jameson's
During discussions on Wednesday
night around the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive meeting. A sponsored Marathon
was mooted. Sounded like a good idea to all. Until The
Landlord suddenly realised they were all talking about
it being him that was the object of the idea. Before I knew
what was going on I had agreed. Not the full Marathon,
but a half Marathon in The Pattaya Marathon on Sunday
19th July. "Is this wise?" I enquired. "Of
course it is!" said Simon and Debbie Philbrook
to name names. So now I am looking for pledges for my Marathon
attempt. Next week there will be a sponsorship form
on the diary for anybody generous enough to sponsor me, and
bets will also be taken with all proceeds going to Charity
(the Jesters Care4Kids). If I don't finish I pay if
I do finish those that have bet I won't finish pay. I have to
be able to start, and no pushing me over at the finish line.
All will be revealed next week, after further negotiations with
the Pattaya Mails Paul Strachan.
I must say though that this week's meeting with both the
Pattaya Hash House Harriers, and the Jesters
Care4Kids Charity Drive, were really good for the heart
with everybody showing a very positive attitude to the present
circumstances (What High Season?) great in particular to see
so many people at the Hash House Harriers meeting,
and fantastic to welcome back Judi to the
Jesters Care4Kids Committee, and welcome in Bernie
Tuppin, both of whom I am sure will make a huge difference.
Well done all.
Have a good week, Rony, Moo, and Kim.
Yes believe your eyes. Derek, and Sa are seen here at their
Wedding reception, in Jameson's

My Mate the mighty Geoff Evans on his last night in the Pub
for a couple of months. Geoff will be back for the Jesters Care4Kids
Charity Drive Fair at the Diana Driving Range and Resort on
Sunday 13th September 2009, where Geoff will be helping out
at The Used Book Stall, The Auction Stall, The Grand Raffle
Stall, Pop's Cool Zone Music Workshop, and more noticeably at
the Beer Stall (where he has the most impact drinking). Geoff
was very concerned that Landlord Kim, would get bored on his
long flight back to England in September so in a great gesture
bought the Landlord his first iPod as a first Birthday Present.
Extremely generous. Kim will be celebrating his Birthday on
Saturday 25th July. These 30th Birthday's keep whizzing round.
On the subject of Birthday's and Children's Charity Drives,
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009 etc. What Landlord Kim
Fletcher would really like for his Birthday this year is your
Old Books, DVD's, and CD's to sell at our Used Book Stall at
this year's Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009 Children's Fair on
Sunday 13th September 2009 starting at 10.00 a.m. As with all
these things in the terrible year of recession we need all the
help we can get from everybody. The Jameson's Used Book Stall
now in its 12th year is a marvellous way of raising money for
the children. You give us all your Used Books, and bring them
to The Pattaya Mail Office, or Tropical Bert's, or Tahitian
Queen, or of course Jameson's. We then sort them all out, and
then sell them back to you at the Fair. We then give all the
money we raise to the Care4Kids Charity Dive. Easy and a great
way to raise much needed money
A special table has now been set aside for the newly married
loving couple Derek and Sa, ladies and gentlemen I give you

were blown away last week as we drove past, when they realised
this beautiful wall is really in a small very little used back

Kim Fletcher and Jameson's thoughts
turn to the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009
The Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive is coming up very quickly. Let me just remind you of the
dates for the main events on Sunday 13th September 2009 is the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Fair at the Diana Driving Range and
Resort, which this year looks like it is going to be even bigger
and better this year than last (if that is possible). Kevin Mitch
once again stepping into the breach, and doing all the organization
in his usual brilliant military precision style. Now whilst talking
about the Fair can I also remind everybody that Jameson's amongst
other things, has a Used Book Stall at the Fair run by Judi McNamara.
The Used Book Stall is always great fun and also raises a nice
lot of money for the kids. It is simple logic. (A) You kindly
donate to us all your old used books, which can be dropped off
at Jameson's or TQ any time, the earlier the better so we can
get them sorted. (B) You come to the Fair, and then buy a lot
of good books at a cheap price, come early for the best selection.
(C) We give all the money we raise to Kevin who hands it on to
the Care4Kids Charity Drive. Easy.
The next event after the Fair is the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Party Night at Jameson's on Saturday 19th September 2009 which
will feature Paul Jackson as our compeer, Music from Mike Gerrard,
Rick and Harpic Bryant, and to bring us all to a Rockin' close
Pop's Pattaya All Stars and assorted guests. On that night there
will also be the arrival of Eric and Robert from their marathon
Charity Bike Ride always an amazing feat of endurance, the climax
to the Raffle and the fantastic Jesters Care4Kids Charity Auction.
The Auction Site is up and running, with lots of good things up
there already, all you have to do is click on the link on the
left hand side of this page and you will be whisked into Ron Keeley
of World of Wine Auction Site, there is plenty to look at and
you might even fancy putting a bid in yourself. Plenty already
have.
There are plenty of ways of helping the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive 2009, Obviously by coming to the Fair, and the Party Night,
making bids on the Auction Site, buying Raffle Tickets, buying
T-Shirts, taking a Bumper Sticker for your car, taking and reading
one of our brochures and showing them to other people (all available
at Jameson's or TQ). If you would like to know some more right
now please click on the link on the right hand side of the page
for the Jesters Care4Kids and you will go on a journey to see
all about us the website. It is regularly updated and is run by
our Chairman, Lewis (Woody) Underwood, and our Webmaster David
Smith, a very good Charity, run by some wonderful people, to help
those less fortunate than others.
