Kim Fletcher
and Jameson's welcomes in April
April
is here the month of Songkran. The Youth Policy have been running riot in
Jamo's this week with Young Steve Page
at the front of things. Pagey is saying he
is going to give up drinking for April (Alcohol
that is). By the time you read this it will be at least
3rd April and I firmly believe although the young mans
intentions are good, he will have now failed in these intentions.
Especially with Ray Campbell around, and the
rest of the Youth Policy, and the Mighty
Sam Peebles coming over the horizon. Brian
Abbott has also given up drinking but apparently Irish
Coffees and Draft Iced Heineken don't count. Linus
has gone into Interstellar overdrive as he has only got a couple
of days left. Malcolm Clare, The Root of All Evil
has been as only The Root can, although he
did show us some marvelous photos of his Father Peter
Clare receiving the M.B.E.
Graham MacDonald as usual held court on Saturday
setting up his own Font Table beside an already
packed Nova Table. Good to see The
Hash House Harriers Committee in Jameson's for their
weekly meeting and of course splendid to see The Jesters
Care4Kids Charity Drive members in for a meeting. Led
by a very resourceful Woody, everything seems
to be in capable hands. Always good to see Ian Harrington.
Formula One Motor Racing has started with a
wonderful turn out of Petrolheads at Jameson's
last Sunday led of course by Iain Corness.
This week's Grand Prix will come from Malaysia
and the lights go out at 4.00 p.m. Iain Corness
will of course be right in the very front row, so please come
early to get a good view of either the giant screen in the sports
room, or the many other screens doted around the pub.

Don't forget
on Sunday is Carvery and Buffet Day
at Jameson's a wonderful big spread including a
giant Salad Bar, Seafood, Soups, many different Roasts including
Turkey, Leg of New Zealand Lamb, Baked Ham, Roast Beef with
Yorkshire Pudding, Chicken, and the favourite Roast Pork with
extra crackling, a fine selection of fresh Vegetables, several
different sorts of Potatoes, all the sauces and dessert all
for 375 Baht as much as you can eat. Looks like Sunday
is a day not to miss, especially with the fine company round
the bar.
The Jameson's Carvery
Rony
Fineman has let go his original Flagship 'The
Nova Lodge Hotel' and very nicely we have all done
out of it too. Now it's upwards and onwards with new ventures
The Nova Gold Hotel next door to Jameson's
is leaping ever skywards, and should be open in November
2009 (Yup that's right when Rony wants
something done, he wants it done). In the mean time Rony
is selling off the remainder of Nova Atrium and Nova
Mirage, you can see all the facts and figures on this
page. If anybody is interested please contact Moo or
Kim at the Jameson's Office. Rony
has also started out completely refurbishing the Nova
Park Residential Suites. Out have gone all the old
T.V.s from the bedrooms to be replaced by new plasma ones, good
old Rony then donated all the old T.V's so
that each member of staff got a new T.V. set. Good Boss
Rony. Next in line Rony will change
all the T.V's in the living rooms, then re-carpet, then Marble
surround's for all the bathrooms and kitchens, and who knows
what else Rony will come up with. It certainly
is not boring being Rony's partner. Hopefully
everything will be ready by the time Paul Dobbs
gets here. This weekend we are looking forward to a couple of
long time stalwarts in the arrival of Sid Silk and Ken
Sly.
Always great to see Richard and Maggie Waller,
and of course the Keeley Family, Ron, Weaw, and James,
from the fabulous World of Wines. WOW. Enough
waffle from me this week, better let Moo get
on with the real work, Have a good week, Kim, Rony and
Moo.

Kim Fletcher and Jameson's thoughts
turn to the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009
The Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive is coming up very quickly. Let me just remind you of the
dates for the main events on Sunday 13th September 2009 is the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Fair at the Diana Driving Range and
Resort, which this year looks like it is going to be even bigger
and better this year than last (if that is possible). Kevin Mitch
once again stepping into the breach, and doing all the organization
in his usual brilliant military precision style. Now whilst talking
about the Fair can I also remind everybody that Jameson's amongst
other things, has a Used Book Stall at the Fair run by Judi McNamara.
The Used Book Stall is always great fun and also raises a nice
lot of money for the kids. It is simple logic. (A) You kindly
donate to us all your old used books, which can be dropped off
at Jameson's or TQ any time, the earlier the better so we can
get them sorted. (B) You come to the Fair, and then buy a lot
of good books at a cheap price, come early for the best selection.
(C) We give all the money we raise to Kevin who hands it on to
the Care4Kids Charity Drive. Easy.
The next event after the Fair is the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Party Night at Jameson's on Saturday 19th September 2009 which
will feature Paul Jackson as our compeer, Music from Mike Gerrard,
Rick and Harpic Bryant, and to bring us all to a Rockin' close
Pop's Pattaya All Stars and assorted guests. On that night there
will also be the arrival of Eric and Robert from their marathon
Charity Bike Ride always an amazing feat of endurance, the climax
to the Raffle and the fantastic Jesters Care4Kids Charity Auction.
The Auction Site is up and running, with lots of good things up
there already, all you have to do is click on the link on the
left hand side of this page and you will be whisked into Ron Keeley
of World of Wine Auction Site, there is plenty to look at and
you might even fancy putting a bid in yourself. Plenty already
have.
There are plenty of ways of helping the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive 2009, Obviously by coming to the Fair, and the Party Night,
making bids on the Auction Site, buying Raffle Tickets, buying
T-Shirts, taking a Bumper Sticker for your car, taking and reading
one of our brochures and showing them to other people (all available
at Jameson's or TQ). If you would like to know some more right
now please click on the link on the right hand side of the page
for the Jesters Care4Kids and you will go on a journey to see
all about us the website. It is regularly updated and is run by
our Chairman, Lewis (Woody) Underwood, and our Webmaster David
Smith, a very good Charity, run by some wonderful people, to help
those less fortunate than others.
It is with real sadness
that I have to tell you all about the sad death of Aoi (Malinee
Rattanajid) who a lot of us have known for many a long year,
right back to the Check Inn days on Sukhumvit Road. Fortunately
for me, she soon saw sense and moved across the road to become
part of the Jools Staff. Having been headhunted into Jools by
Yim she became part of the A-Team, and part of the best bunch
of Staff to ever run Jools if not any Bar in Bangkok, a golden
era then ensued for Jools, with so many great stories that they
cannot all be put on one page. But the Sinking Boat on Loy Katong,
and all scampering up a tree when Aoi organized a trip down
to Silom Park to go and drink Snake's Blood, and one of the
Snakes got loose, or the day that Joan Jett came into Jools
and was immediately taken under Aoi's wing, are among the ones
that instantly spring to mind.
Aoi then went on to run Jools for a few years, before she switched
sides of the Bar, as she was whisked away by Geoff. The escapades
did not stop then by any means, wonderful lunch parties at fantastic
Seafood Restaurants chosen by Aoi, with uncountable bottles
of wine, and great food. With Aoi keeping an eye on us all,
as we staggered around enjoying ourselves. Whenever Aoi came
into Jameson's it was a star event with all the girls gathering
around Aoi, with her having to move to bigger and bigger tables
to accommodate all her friends as they came in.
Aoi also became my children's long time Friend, and Mentor,
well they certainly listened to her more than they did their
Dad. Quite what Tracy, Geoffrey, and Rosemary are going to do
without her I have no idea, but without her guiding light it
is certainly going to be tough for them.
Here is a lovely photo of Aoi in her element on the beach, taking
care of my son Geoffrey, food all around her, and a half empty
wine glass in front of her. There are also a couple of photos
of Aoi from her Jools days.
Aoi died far too young, and will leave a massive void in many
peoples life’s. All of our thoughts are with Aoi's Friends
and Family.
Aoi's Cremation will
be held at Wat Tham Samakee at 3.00 p.m.

Kim
Thank you for letting me
know! This indeed is very sad News, I will call Rin and let
her know as well. Aoi was a very good friend back in the day,
she was sweet and funny and always had my back…and I am
reminded how much I miss that time and those people..you people…
Please pass on my sentiments to Geoff and to All who knew ‘weasel’s
sister’. Life is too short to let this kind of time slip
away… I need to make good my threats and come home soon!
I am sorry not to have a
good quip or anecdote to share with all, as I just walked in
from a long early morning shift but she will be in my thoughts
tonight.
Moaya
This was such
a lovely e-mail from Elizabeth, I just had to print it. I am
glad you had a nice night Elizabeth and I hope to see you soon.

Dear Kim,
A short ‘Thank you’ note to you and your staff for
an enjoyable birthday celebration.
I was at your pub with my
husband and our family last Saturday, 28th March 2009. It was
a belated birthday celebration (my actual birthday is 25th March)
as the kids had school and we wanted to ‘drink’
and sleep in on Sunday !
The food was wonderful,
the service exceptional and of course, the surprise cake and
sparkling were just ‘great’….
You can be sure we will
be regulars now. Our very first visit was just a day before
on the 27th where we had dinner (just my husband and I) as we
wanted to check out if the venue was good for the kids, and
we were so taken with the place and the staff; and immediately
booked a table for the next day!
Most probably you will see
us again as soon as this Thursday …..!
Thanks again to all,
Liz Brown
Alan has very good taste in music,
so I am sure this will be worth a listen.

Subject: Pixie Lott's first single on Radio 2
Hi Guys
Here's a link to my friend Pixie's first ever air play on BBC
Radio 2 of her first single Mama Do, due to be released on the
11th May. Fast forward to 1 hour 6 minutes to hear it http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00jg735
I first heard her demo's just over 2 years ago and was absolutely
blown away with how mature and soulful her voice was and she
was only 16 at the time !
Her Album 'Turn It Up' is out on the 17th August and has loads
of great tracks on it, Cry Me Out and My Way (If I Changed)
in particular are going to be huge hits!
She has the music press in the UK in a spin at the moment all
saying she's going to be the next big thing, already comparing
her to another Duffy ! If you have a few minutes read this write
up in the Times http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/article5808005.ece
Do yourselves a favour and have a listen to Pixie at her My
Space site http://www.myspace.com/pixiesongs If you like her
songs, please help spread the word for her.
Cheers
