Many
wonderful things at Jameson's
First things
first Congratulations from all at Jameson's
to the birth of a new beautiful bouncing baby girl to Brian
and Lee Abbott born on Monday to great
Fanfare. Mother and Baby are fine, and Brian
is on cloud nine so all is well in the Abbott
household.
Some
lovely pictures of proud Parents Brian and Lee Abbott with the
lovely Jaya.
As you
can see from the photos we had a bit of a knees up last
Saturday night (after the Rugby) for
the Landlord and his good lady Wife.
Malcolm Clare performed his duties as Best
Man wonderfully well, providing a wonderful cake, Champagne,
and most importantly keeping the Bridegroom
upright for most of the night. The right man for a crisis. Who
else can say they had The Root of All Evil
as their best man. Thank you to everybody for coming, and I
do apologize for not being able to speak during my speech, but
possibly just a bit too much Dutch courage! Rony Fineman is now back in the Country
so things will yet again go mad in the Nova Development
Group, does the man ever slow down?
Lots of good things going on this weekend, Big Dave
and Liz Knight have Birthdays this
week, so Happy Birthday to them. For all the
sports this weekend please look up the sports schedule, and
don't forget the Oscar De La Hoya fight on
Sunday morning at aprox 10.30 a.m.
Wanchai
has spent the week decorating the pub in time for the
Christmas and New Year festivities, and the pub looks
really warm and jolly again. The Christmas Menu
is on this page, so have a look and if you wish to book up please
do so quickly, as the bookings are starting to flow in Sam
Peebles has booked out the entire sports room for the
day which is already full, and Captain Steve
has booked a table that grows bigger every day. We always have
good fun on Christmas Day in the pub so come
and join the fun.
Agony all the time for England sports fans
although surprisingly the Football teams are
all doing very well, Pattaya City, England and Reading.
Well done chaps gives us something to celebrate. Have a good
week everybody, Kim, Rony and Moo.

Here is another
good report from Jameson's own Racing Car Star, James Grunwell.
Rookie
Grunwell wins Asian Championship
Pattaya
based British racing driver James Grunwell completed an amazing
treble here in Shanghai over the weekend, as he won 3 out of
4 races to secure the Asian Championship, the youngest driver
ever to do so .
James' team mate in the Pizza Company Meritus Team, Earl Bamber,
was not available for the week-end which made set up of the
car even harder for Grunwell in the rainy conditions. However,
this did not appear to effect James who had one goal in mind
– to win the Asian title.
The pressure was on this weekend for Grunwell to bring home
the Championship Trophy. In the first race Grunwell started
in 2nd place but soon dominated the race. The second race saw
some exiting moments but again Grunwell lead from start to finish.
After the third race, as James crossed the line he knew the
championship was his and there was a huge sigh of relief from
the team as he got out of the car. The final race saw James'
car set for drying conditions, however, down came the rain as
the cars were lined up on the starting grid waiting for the
lights to go off. A huge spin, almost hitting the wall and the
car aqua planing along, meant the rookie driver could just about
steer his car safely over the finishing line in 6th place. Grunwell
said this was about the scariest racing weekend ever, the unreliable
weather, a very slippery track and the late release of the V6
cars, meant there had been no practice or time to set up the
500hp cars properly.
The championship finished with James on 133 points, second was
New Zealand driver Earl Bamber on 105 and third Chalez Ro of
Australia with 89.
James' future now depends on continued support from Thailand's
racing community and sponsorship.
Grunwell says: I am happy with a hat trick but the weekend would
have been absolutely perfect if I could have brought home four
first places and an overall trophy for the sponsors. I want
to thank the RAAT, The Pizza Company and my family for their
continued support. I will hopefully be testing Formula Master
in Italy the middle of next month, and maybe the drive in the
Speedcar Series will still come off for the winter season. A
lot will depend on sponsorship, I am not from a wealthy family
and without my sponsors all this would not have been possible."
Cheers,
see you at the Bar Kim
