Diary No. 251 Week of 25th January
2010 - 31st January 2010 Updated 4th February 2010
Another great
week, at Jameson’s. The glorious return
of F.C Nova to winning ways with a 3-0 thrashing
(Yes I say thrashing) of the opposition with “sit”
getting two and Terry keeping a clean sheet.
Back to winning ways. The party was suitably lively with everybody
joining in.
This weekend sees the beginning of the Landlord’s
favorite time on the sporting calendar, the Six Nations
Rugby Tournament, all the times are printed both on this
page and our sporting schedule. This week also saw the arrival
of the Geordie Magnificent Seven, Col “Mottman”
Powell, Alan “The Scourge” Taylor leading
the others over the top in the case of the Beer Monster
Davey, Lanky, Mark, Angus and Big Geordie Mark, needless
to say the sales of San Miguel Lite has gone
through the roof. And jolly good it is to have them living up
the pub along with the Usual Suspects, F.C Nova, Graham
MacDonald, The World of Wines Wallers, Brian Abbott, Ian (Lady
Di) Harrington, our regular Boxing expert Sid Silk, Des Halls,
Big Jim, Jimbo Howard, Mickey Price, Dennis & Lek, Chicken
Nick, Kung Foey Chris & Wee.
Worth showing again as Mark Winslade tucks into solids
Oh everything is happiness and joy at the moment as Landlord
Kim has been given his Umpire’s shirt from the Pattaya
Cricket Club Chairman/Captain/Coach/Chief Bottle washer Simon
Philbrook. Watched by Des Halls & Ian (Lady Di) Harrington
Mr. Simon Philbrook realizes this might be a sight that he sees
on rather a regular basics as Umpire Fletcher raises the dreaded
finger. Notice the very nice Jameson’s logo on these wonderful
shirts which are now available at Jameson’s
Nobody’s back. Great to have Frank and Paul back in the
pub even if it is for the moment without Just Frank
Finally Simon can laugh about the Umpires descion but still
could not work out why he had been given out F.B.W (he is going
to hit the roof when he finds out its fool before wicket)
Happy Days
Ah it’s the irrepressible Corness’s Iain and Som,

Coming up in two weeks time is some Cricket
in Pattaya for the first time at Horseshoe
Point. The guys up at Horseshoe Point
have done a wonderful job turning the playing area into one
great big Cricket field, with a wonderful artificial
track, the track is already bedded in and plays marvelously.
The actual track has to be cut in two so that the grain goes
the same way, so that is why there appears to be a cut across
the pitch halfway down, its supposed to be there, so that the
bounce is even each end, anyway anybody pitching the ball halfway
down is likely to get slogged over midwicket anyway. There is
also plenty of space left for a full Rugby pitch for
the Pattaya Panthers and a Football pitch for Pattaya City Football
Club. A marvelous achievement, well done to all the
guys at Horseshoe Point. So hopefully we will
see as many people as possible up there to watch the
Cricket on Saturday 20th February first ball at 2.00 o’clock
for a 20/20 game against the British Club, followed by a game
of 35 overs on Sunday 21st February starting at 2.00 o’clock
again. With Kim Fletcher making his debut as
Umpire.
Talking of grounds F.C Nova are at present
looking for a Football pitch for next season,
if anybody has any good ideas please let Stuart Levy
or myself know at Jameson’s. We’re
ever such a nice bunch of blokes honest.
Also at Horseshoe Point this week we all turned
up to not only inspect the lovely new grounds, but also to play
some quick Cricket (on the new track), some
Softball, & finally Soccer, a great way to spend
Sunday, all organized by Rick and Harpic
Bryant, Good fun for all.
