The
Jesters Care for Kids Charity Drive is under way, the
first meeting was held last week, (after the World of
Wines wine tasting session, which helped everybody be
a little more open and optimistic). We have some marvelous plans
for the upcoming years events. The Auction site
is now open for bids, you can log onto this site at the side of
the page to make your bids or just have a look, and see what we
have got, but please keep checking the website as when new items
come in they will immediately be put up on the website, so worth
checking once in a while. Of course the most important thing is
to remember the dates of the main events. The Jesters
Charity Fair will be held at the Diana Driving
Range and Resort on Sunday 14th September, and then The
Jesters Party Night at Jameson's will be on Saturday
20th September. Please remember everybody that Judi
McNamara will again be running a used book stall again
this year and it is never too early to start bringing in your
used to book to Jameson's so we can start stocking
up.
After the wonderful wine tasting evening at Jameson's
last Wednesday with Richard Waller and the World
of Wines, Jameson's will now be having a brand new extended
wine list, which will be revealed at a new party on Tuesday
1st April. That's right folks April Fool's Day
also known as Mike Franklin's Birthday.
Another wonderful week with the usual suspects making a good showing.
The Jameson's Executive, Junior, Deputy, Assistant, Trainee,
Manager Mr. Ian (Lady Di) Harrington has enjoyed himself
way too much this week, whilst the Jameson's Ambassador
Mark Stubbs has been surprisingly studious. Geoff
Evans has been the rock around which Nova Table
has been built bringing the wonderful Jimmy with
him Sam Peebles has brought all the boys in which
always gives the bar plenty of jolly atmosphere, Young
Steve, Young Paul and Joy, Jimmy (Mike), Ian Ashley, Graham Woo,
Jason Payne, Ron Keeley and Family, the return of the
mighty Dobsy, along with young brother David,
Dangerous Dave, Derek of Bar Blu (very good opening night
Derek), Dennis and Lek, who
have the wonderful laundry along from Jameson's, Rob and
Wit, Blowfly who been ordered into Jameson's
by the Root of All Evil, and when the
Root commands you obey, Frank and Frank, Rony
Fineman and family and friends, Englebert and Nan, Englebert
throwing back the Jameson's whiskys. Terry
Schofield of "No Fixed Abode", Richard and Maggie Waller,
and Manning, Woody, Wild Bill, Tony Malhotra, Ray and Curly Wurly
Matti, Uncle Matt. Thanks to John Hagan
for taking the trouble to review our little website. Birmingham
Jimmy, Peter Mack and Entourage.

We
now also have a link up to the new Supper Club and Vodka
Ice Bar at the Amari Nova Suites next door to Jameson's.
How much vodka can you get down your neck in twenty minutes? I
reckon the Jameson's Football Captain/Coach Brian Abbott
could break the bank if he goes, oblivious to the cold
these boys from Boro.
Hello to Tony and Iris Ritchie the Berroca is
still holding the big Fat Landlord together Saturday around the world is always a big sport
day and no difference at Jameson's. Saturday
started off with a nice lunch with Sam Pebbles, Motor
Bike Shaun and the rest of the boys, followed by a few
drinks with Mr. Ian (Lady Di) Harrington. Then
noises started to come through of an amazing football game between
Pattaya City Football Club, and the Woodstock team from
Bangkok. To cut a long story short Pattaya
had two people sent off in the first five minutes including the
Goalkeeper, and then went two down by the beginning of the second
half and then came back to win three /two. By the time Rick
Bryant came back to Jameson's he could
barely contain his excitement. I think Geoff Evans
heard the story twenty times, but good old Geoff always
with a smile on his face. Then we showed the start of the
Six Nations Rugby Tournament 2008, this was simply a
marvelous event if you were the Pub Jameson's,
or Irish or Welsh. The Bangkok Japanese
led by Thommo, were in attendance in preparation
for their game against the Pattaya Panthers on
the following Sunday, The Panthers were out in
force with Paul Crouch leading the charge followed
by Jimmy Howard, Mickey Price, Eoin and Shelley Quirke,
Joe Grunwell, the little green bottles of Heineken were
traveling all over the bar. One eye was also kept on the
Premier league Football, although these days it is better
to keep both eyes shut when watching Reading Football
Club, this is usually where I try and make some witty
comment about Reading and their wonderful skills
in the management department, but words fail me this week. Graham and Jay MacDonald are on honeymoon in
Egypt and happened to be visiting the great Pyramids
whilst the England vs. Wales rugby game was being
played true to form Graham texted to fine out
the score, at 19-6 just after half time Graham
was pleased with my text messaging service. Graham
then text me to tell me that the Pyramid light and laser show
had just finished and he had never seen anything quite so spectacular,
I them text Graham back to say that I bet it
was not as spectacular as the England collapse!
I must say that the Welsh really stuck to their
guns, and deserved their victory. And I do admit that the
Fat landlord was half way out the door at the final whistle
to avoid the marauding Welsh in the bar.

Nice
to hear from Lisa Lurve, Dave Foden and Mike Watkins
this weekend, and great to see Geordie Darren
in the bar along with the returning Chris and Jenny, Budgie,
George, Stuart, Steve Graham, and Terry "Of No Fixed Abode".
American John arrived during the rugby and softened
the blow by distributing loads of B52's. Mike Franklin was in in-between dance classes
on Saturday and was not pleased to hear that
he would not be able to watch the rugby at home last weekend.
You'll just have to get a late night pass Mike
and stay in Jameson's.
Coming up this week will be a new venture in the sporting world
of Jameson's a game of Softball at
the wonderful Horseshoe Point. This is a joint
effort between Horseshoe Point / Jameson's / The Von Bryant
Family. Ko of Horseshoe Point is a good
man and is very keen on introducing a new sport to Horseshoe
Point. The game plan is to meet up at Jameson's
at 11o'clock in the morning and pick teams, and explain
the rules, (it's basically Rounders, or to put it simply Cricket
for beginners). Everybody is welcome, women, children, men, and
Big Fat landlord's although apparently a pair
of solid gardening clothes for fielding is advised. Don't forget
there is also plenty to do at Horseshoe Point without
the Softball, Horse Show's Zoo for the kids, Bar for the drinkers
and swimming pools for the adults and the kids. All you have to
do is turn up and you will be included in the fun. The Pattaya Panthers Rugby team pulled off a
great result last week, behind by two tries to none at half time,
they finally pulled off a three tries to two victory, great fun
for all apart from one of the Bangkok Japanese
who broke his collar bone, by this was swiftly dealt with by Ko
and his very efficient staff at Horseshoe Point
and he was even able to join us for drinks after the game.
Another new addition to the Panthers Family is
Lek and Dennis's Laundry just round the corner
from Jameson's, who have taken on the task of
washing all the Panthers kit after the games.
Have a good weekend everybody, Kim, Ron, and
the lovely Moo.

Kim,
I dont ask much but could
you please put the lyrics of "The Flowers of Manchester"
in this weeks diary, Feb 6th 1958 the Munich Air Crash is a poignant
day to some
One cold and bitter Thursday in Munich, Germany,
Eight great football stalwarts conceded victory,
Eight men who will never play again who met destruction there,
The flowers of English football, the flowers of Manchester
Matt Busby's boys were flying,
returning from Belgrade,
This great United family, all masters of their trade,
The Pilot of the aircraft, the skipper Captain Thain,
Three times they tried to take off and twice turned back again.
The third time down the runaway,
disaster followed close,
There was a slush upon that runaway and the aircraft never rose,
It ploughed into the marshy ground, it broke, it overturned.
And eight of the team were killed as the blazing wreckage burned.
Roger Byrne and Tommy Taylor
who were capped for England's side.
And Ireland's Billy Whelan and England's Geoff Bent died,
Mark Jones and Eddie Colman, and David Pegg also,
They all lost their lives as it ploughed on through the snow.
Big Duncan he went to, with
an injury to his frame,
And Ireland's brave Jack Blanchflower will never play again,
The great Matt Busby lay there, the father of his team
Three long months passed by before he saw his team again.
The trainer, coach and secretary,
and a member of the crew,
Also eight sporting journalists who with United flew,
and one of them was Big Swifty, who we'll ne'er forget,
the finest English 'keeper that ever graced the net.
Oh, England's finest football
team its record truly great,
its proud successes mocked by a cruel turn of fate.
Eight men will never play again, who met destruction there,
the flowers of English football, the flowers of Manchester
Cheers
The Ambassador
