New
Diaries are uploaded around midnight on Thursday, local time,

Diary No. 225 Week of 29th June 2009
- 5th July 2009 Updated 9th July 2009
The
Great Marathon Run of 2009
Landlord
Kim Fletcher in his infinite wisdom has decided to
do this year's Pattaya Half Marathon on Sunday 19th
July. Kim is not the best known person
in Pattaya for his sporting prowess, or for
getting up at 3.30 a.m. (Often known to still
be up at this time, but not just getting up on a Sunday
morning). Anyway the Race is afoot
as they say. Deborah Philbrook, and Ron Keeley
have stepped into the breach, and have taken on the joint role
of Trainers and Sponsorship Collectors. Kim
will be doing the Half Marathon in aid of the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive. There's a space for
donating on line on this page, plus the Sponsorship
Forms are downloadable from this page or you can sign
up in the Pub. The other ways you could help
are to actually go with Kim on the day, (a
chance that Pagey very firmly turned down).
Or grab a Sponsorship Form from the Pub
and get some more sponsorship for us. Every little bit helps,
and remembers Kim has actually got to finish
in the allotted time to have to make you pay up your money.
You can see all the details on this page.
Well the Half Marathon is not many moons away
now, and the Landlord is in training. But he
certainly did not know how far over 21 kilometers
is. In fact I nearly fainted just seeing how far along Sukhumvit
you have to go, and what's worse is you have to back up as far
as the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital before you
can come back on yourself. Still it's not as bad as the actual
Marathon Runners who seem to have to run half
way to Bangkok first before doing a big U-Turn
via Chang-Mai. Please help me raise some money
for Care4Kids for this people have already
been very generous, and a little Committee
has formed to try and help me raise the money. Young
Steve Page is definitely the President
good man in a crisis our Pagey, and just the
man for this job, Right Hand man to Pagey is
obviously RayC with some help from Geordie
Derek (Hello Mottman), Deborah Philbrook has taken
the Thankless task of Treasurer (Lets face
it would you like any of the rest of us to handle the money,
Deborah also put the whole gambit on Facebook).
Judi McNamara is a very good publicity agent
for the walk, and my good mate Ron Keeley has
done a wonderful on line website for the Marathon (Half)
which you can connect to on the left hand side of this website
as you look at it. Every little bit I can collect for the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009 will make me even
more determined to finish the Marathon. Every
hundred baht counts, as we have found out many times before,
a lot of small amounts add up to one great big amount. I would
like to Thank now all those that have already donated, and I
will publish a list of those that have donated next week. Right
now back to the training.
The
Sponsorship Form
This weekend
sees the return of the Formula One season after
a little break. This should see Dr. Iain Corness
happy, as he takes his perch in the Jameson's
sports room for the Race starting at
7.00 p.m.on Sunday 12th July. Iain
normally gets to Jameson's about 5.30 p.m.
to avail himself of the fresh Carvery (375 baht as much
as you can eat including Roast Turkey, Roast Leg of New Zealand
Lamb, Roast Beef, Baked Honey Glazed Ham, beautiful Thai Roast
Pork with Apple Sauce and plenty of Crackling, Vegetarian Lasagne,
nine different Veggies, three sorts of Potato, Soups, Bread,
Prawn Cocktail, and an enormous Salad Bar). Iain
normally has a nice Salad, then a bowl of Soup,
then a huge plate of Carvery, before the race,
and then just has a few more Pit Stops at the Carvery
during the Race. A splendid evening.
If the Landlord is lucky he will be watching
the Cricket on one of the TV's. For a full
round up of our sporting calendar for the weekend please look
up our sports schedule.
If you live in Pattaya please remember your
Used books, DVD's, and CD's for our Used Book Stall
for the Children's Fair, Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive which
is on the 13th September. Please bring your books as
soon as possible to give us time to sort them out. That's all
for me this week, back to Training! See you hopefully soon.

The grip of Charity. The new Jesters Care4Kids Wristbands the
height of fashion in Pattaya. With the present hot season you

buying a Wristband. All profits got to the Charity Drive

a hard hat, and having a mooch about.
Happy Birthday to Rony by the way on the 12th July. God Star

Did I mention the Landlord is a Cancer and will be having his
Birthday Party on Saturday July 25th.
That is if he survives the Half Marathon
The beautiful wall for the Temple (Wat Tai Hee). Just outside
Jameson's.
As you can see the work is pains taking, and involves a lot
of patience.
But the artists remain very friendly to all who pass by

Kim Fletcher and Jameson's thoughts
turn to the Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive 2009
The Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive is coming up very quickly. Let me just remind you of the
dates for the main events on Sunday 13th September 2009 is the
Jesters Care4Kids Charity Fair at the Diana Driving Range and
Resort, which this year looks like it is going to be even bigger
and better this year than last (if that is possible). Kevin Mitch
once again stepping into the breach, and doing all the organization
in his usual brilliant military precision style. Now whilst talking
about the Fair can I also remind everybody that Jameson's amongst
other things, has a Used Book Stall at the Fair run by Judi McNamara.
The Used Book Stall is always great fun and also raises a nice
lot of money for the kids. It is simple logic. (A) You kindly
donate to us all your old used books, which can be dropped off
at Jameson's or TQ any time, the earlier the better so we can
get them sorted. (B) You come to the Fair, and then buy a lot
of good books at a cheap price, come early for the best selection.
(C) We give all the money we raise to Kevin who hands it on to
the Care4Kids Charity Drive. Easy.
The next event after the Fair is the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Party Night at Jameson's on Saturday 19th September 2009 which
will feature Paul Jackson as our compeer, Music from Mike Gerrard,
Rick and Harpic Bryant, and to bring us all to a Rockin' close
Pop's Pattaya All Stars and assorted guests. On that night there
will also be the arrival of Eric and Robert from their marathon
Charity Bike Ride always an amazing feat of endurance, the climax
to the Raffle and the fantastic Jesters Care4Kids Charity Auction.
The Auction Site is up and running, with lots of good things up
there already, all you have to do is click on the link on the
left hand side of this page and you will be whisked into Ron Keeley
of World of Wine Auction Site, there is plenty to look at and
you might even fancy putting a bid in yourself. Plenty already
have.
There are plenty of ways of helping the Jesters Care4Kids Charity
Drive 2009, Obviously by coming to the Fair, and the Party Night,
making bids on the Auction Site, buying Raffle Tickets, buying
T-Shirts, taking a Bumper Sticker for your car, taking and reading
one of our brochures and showing them to other people (all available
at Jameson's or TQ). If you would like to know some more right
now please click on the link on the right hand side of the page
for the Jesters Care4Kids and you will go on a journey to see
all about us the website. It is regularly updated and is run by
our Chairman, Lewis (Woody) Underwood, and our Webmaster David
Smith, a very good Charity, run by some wonderful people, to help
those less fortunate than others.
