Jameson's
in Bangkok, going from strength to strength
The new Jameson's
in Bangkok underneath the Holiday
Inn, run by my mate John
Bell is going from strength to strength, the Grand
Opening Party will be on 21st
November. But as things are going it is already the
best pub in Bangkok before
it has officially opened, now you cannot beat that for enterprise. The
fat Landlord from Pattaya Kim Fletcher
will be going up for opening night, so I can tell you I am looking forward
to that.
In Pattaya the new Thursday
Special of Lasagna is just the best thing we have ever
put on as a special, Terry Schofield of
No Fixed Abode has nominated one of the best Lasagna’s
he has ever eaten recommendation indeed. Anybody to likes Pasta
should pop in on Thursday
and look forward to a delightful taste of Pasta.
Now this one is a real winner, The Thursday
Special, or it should be the Jameson's Extra Special Thursday Special,
Jameson's Lasagna layers of pasta, with beef and tomato in-between,
plus a few herbs and spices, Chef Vinai's own creation, and one absolutely
not to be missed, a layer of cheddar and parmesan cheese is put on top,
and then put under the griddle till it bubbles and crisps up, wonderful,
the only problem being is you get such a huge portion that you could
not possibly finish it!
Nice to see the bar nice and full
again this week, with appearances from all and sundry including Terry
Schofield of ''No Fixed Abode'' Denis and Lek, Rob and Wit, Mike Watkins
and Meow, Paul and Joy Steve, Chicken Nick, Big Dave Hoyle
of course caused absolute havoc last weekend, as of course so did Malcolm
Clare "The Root of All Evil" is a name he
will never lose.
It was great to see what is left of Big
Dave, as he has now already lost 42
kilos and rapidly descending downwards, strange though
to see Dave just tucking
into such small portions of food and still not being able to finish
it. Malcolm Clare was
at his storming best on Sunday afternoon,
when we really did have a splendid Sunday
afternoon bash, we were joined by Sam
Peebles and the boys into what became a perfect Sunday
afternoon drink, starting early and finishing early,
so that everybody had, had a good time, but were still able to have
a good nights sleep.
Landlord Kim Fletcher
with a very smart Rick Bryant, Rick had been off at a top football meeting
in preparation for the game next Saturday 24th November at Horseshoe
Point
The new Tuesday Special
Chicken Cordon Bleu a'la Jameson's. Flattened out Chicken breast stuffed
with ham and cheddar cheese covered in flour, egg and then bread crumbs
with herbs, deep-fried and served up with crinkle cut chips and veggies,
plus of course a starter and dessert all for Baht 185
The invincible
Steve Graham with the Dodgy Landlord Kim Fletcher, Steve always brings
a lot of fun to Nova Table when he arrives
Now for news of the future, on Saturday
24th November at Horseshoe Point there will be a game
of football between the Bangkok Casuals,
and the Pattaya Casuals for the
Jameson's Football Challenge Trophy. The idea being
that it will be a friendly kick about, with multiple rolling substitutes,
so that everybody gets a kick, (or maybe not but at least appear on
the field). We will play in 3 twenty minute thirds, so it's not too
tiring, and will swap the players from side to side if it all appears
to be a bit tiring! Tony Ritchie
although he does not know it yet will be the fourth official off the
field, and will adjudicate on any matters that appear controversial,
and throw off anybody who appears to be taking it too seriously. Rick
Bryant along with the Bryant
gang of Harpic, Jake, Paige, and Abbi, have organized
all the fiddly bits like referees, the pitch, balls, flags, etc. Greg
Watkins is Managing and
Captaining the Bangkok
side, whilst the newly formed partnership of Brian
Abbot and Kim Fletcher will manage the Pattaya
side. Anybody who fancies a kick around please contact us at Jameson's.
The presentation of the trophy, man of the match etc will be after the
game back at Jameson's,
where there will be a full schedule of games from the Premiership
to watch, so we can all see how it is done properly. That is even if
Steve's Blue and White hoop's team
is playing, still never mind we have got both Arsenal
games out the way.
The Unquenchables Rugby Team on their last
night, of course led by Denis Collard, who was the perfect leader of
a bunch on tour as he ever was
Chris very kindly gives everybody's favorite Bartendy Jay-Jay a lesson
on the Ukulele, we await the out come with baited breathe
Roger Wickett Stag night
in Jameson's, Roger is about to attempt the El Diablo, never a wise
idea
Going
Going and
gone
A bar full of Saturday
night Specials Rob, Denis and Paul with their partners whoop it up on
Saturday
It is always nice
to see the happy smilin' faces of Ian
Harrington, Mark Stubbs, Spot, Jimmy Howard, Eoin and Shelley Quirke,
Dangerous Dave, Jason Payne, Ron, Waew and James Keeley, Rony Fineman,
showing off his new Supper Club and Ice
Vodka Bar around the corner (but more of this next week
after we have paid a visit).
Also always good to see Simon and Debbie,
Graham MacDonald, J.K and Tai with Ice.
Thank you very much to all for the magazines this week including Big
Dave, Ian Brown and The Root of All Evil. Stuart and Moo
made a nice visit, and we all look forward to the arrival of Tony
and Iris Ritchie. Johnnie Live is still dashing around
as ever, whilst Mike Franklin
gears up for the Diana Gold Golf Competition.
Great to have dominating the middle of the bar Mike
Watkins and Meow, Nigel, Paul and Joy, "Doesn't
necessarily make you a bad person" Steve,
Chris, Derek, Geordie Darren, Graham Woo, Chicken Nick, and Joules.
Hope you all have a good week, Kim.
