What a fabulous evening we had with The British Chamber of Commerce Pub Networking Night, the perfect sponsors for the Pub Night at Jameson's was The World of Wines, which as we all know is owned by the splendid Richard Waller. Chef Vinai also supplied us with some splendid nibbles to wash it all down, smoked salmon, brie cheese, cheddar cheese, Humus with Pita bread, chicken wings, sausage rolls, stuffed mushrooms, all splendid stuff most of which can be bought on our nibbles list, which is being revamped this week, and we will give you a preview of next week. But back to the night, we had a jolly good turnout, lots of good folk down from the big city Bangkok, a splendid way to start the new year with the B.C.C.T. For a full review of the Evening please click on to Dr. Iain Corness's review of the Evening at www.pattayamail.com. But I can tell you that the wine was very impressive in quality, and even more impressive in quantity, our esteemed bartender Lurch did a wonderful job of ripping the corks out of the bottles, and thankfully the Australian wine which was the most popular had screw tops which helped us out. Richard is also the best speaker to have been heard in Pattaya in many a while and had everybody laughing, whilst showing off his vast knowledge of his favorite subject vino. My thanks go out to all my staff for working so hard and everybody in the B.C.C.T. especially Richard and Maggie Waller, Graham MacDonald, and Greg Watkins for doing all the arranging etc. A very good way to start the weekend. My favorite bit of the evening was right at the end when a slightly tidally Harpic Bryant and the Fat Landlord were playing snap with all the business cards that had been collected. Harpic won! But you should of seen the look of dismay on Rick's face when he realized what we were doing. |

It is also possible that Jameson's might actually be doing a St. Patrick's Day bash Richard Harvey is talking of putting the band back together again (I have always wanted to say that). Richard was the leading songwriter of the very popular seventies folk/progressive rock band 'Gryphon' Gryphon were a marvelous life band using the full spectrum of musical instruments (listed else where on this diary). This would make a wonderful night of St. Patrick's, and only logistics can get in the way so let's keep our fingers crossed. Of course I would also have to get Rick, Pop, and the boys involved. More of this once I have had the chance to have another chat to Richard. I'm sure Andy McTighe will fly back for it.

Great people make a great pub so therefore Jameson's
is a great pub, there have been loads of really nice people in this
week, Brian Abbott a man
who manages a football team with a smile on his face, the wonderful
Sam Peebles and the boys, Ian Harrington,
Mark Stubbs, Johny Live, Graham MacDonald, Danny Poole
(you remember him Scud?),
Jimmy, Geordie Darren, Chris, my partner
Rony Fineman, Young Paul and Steve, Jimmy Mike, Ian,
nice to have Graham Woo
back, Simon and Debbie,
leading the charge as ever Eoin and Shelley
Quirke, Graham Watkins, these are the sort of people
that give me a good excuse for putting the cricket and the rugby on
the TVs. another impressive listing of sports for this weekend too.
You may have noticed that Ron Keeley
has been back all over the website rearranging things for your pleasure,
we may as well change the diary to come out on Monday
in the future, we will of course keep you posted, but for now here is
another diary.

Always
good to see Jon Fox of Q Cars,
and Jack Levy, sadly Boro
Steve has gone back to Aussie,
but it was brilliant fun while it lasted, however Geoff
Evans is still here, and being a star as ever. Walking
through the door always with a knowing smile, and a fistful of DVD's for
all. We have been really lucky this week to have had such good friends
this week with Kevin bringing
in the latest Rory Galalgher
DVD, Mick and Elly sending
me a brilliant copy of an Old Grey Whistle
Test from 1975 featuring Nutz,
Gus left us with a great DVD of Dream
Theatre doing their Pink
Floyd thing, and Geoff
himself chipping in with some great stuff from Queen,
and Neil Young. Geoff
is now the Official Bootligger
(Pun intended) for Jameson's
and friends. See you in six weeks Sandilands,
Ray is off on some Island
again taking Curly Wurly
with him and Uncle Matt.
The Root of All Evil is
still oop north, which at least gives the Port bottles a bit of a rest.
But I am assured that Sid Silk
will hove into few any days now. |

Rushing up on us is the 11th Jesters Care for Kids Charity Drive, the first meeting of the organizers takes place at Jameson's on the Wednesday 30th January, and of we go again. We are all razors sharp this year and are brimful of ideas that I will let you know about as the week's pass by. Put dates in your diary for the Fair at the Diana Driving Range and Resort on Sunday September 14th and the Party Night (we have lots of new ideas for this night's Party Night, Captain Steve Ponter, Debbie Lightley, Woody, Colin Powell (Mottman), Graham MacDonald and the Fat Landlord are scheming away) at good old Jameson's on Saturday 20th September. One last thing Judi McNamara will again be running the book stall this year, so please look round and see if you have any books that you are unlikely to read again, or are just taking up space collecting dust and bring them into Jameson's and we will pass them onto Judi. At Jameson's we are all looking forward to Matt and the Old Bill Rugby Team from Hong Kong arriving in May to take on The Panthers at rugby, singing, dancing, and most certainly drinking. The Mighty Pattaya Panthers Rugby Team are out prowling about again this time against the Bangkok Japanese, Training as usual every Thursday night, plus meet up with the Bangkok Japanese on Saturday night 2nd February. Then kick off on Sunday at 2.30 p.m. Anybody who fancy's joining the Panthers is always made more than welcome, contact the Fat landlord at the bar or failing that turn up at Training or Saturday night 2nd February at Jameson's. I'm betting on Ray Matti being man of the match again. Have a good week, Kim. |

Pictured here at The B.C.C.T Networking Pub Night on Friday 18th January 2008 are Richard Harvey of early seventies rock band Gryphon, Colin Hastings of Hot Chilli fane (quite definitely the best magazine of its kind in Thailand), Kim Fletcher the big Fat Landlord of Jameson’s, and a rather startled looking Brian Gulland who was also is Gryphon, who during his time with the band was credited the playing amongst other instruments, bassoon, various crumhorns, recorders, keyboards, low recorders, low krumhorns (note technical spelling difference between crumhorns & krumhorns) I hasten to odd that yes Brian sometimes used to play most of these instruments on stage at the some time!! No wonder the slightly bemused look.
Here it is folk the
breaking news of the year. What a scoop. The first published photos of
Stephen
Leather has a brand new book out called “Dead
Men”, it is another in the fantastic Sam
Shepherd Series. Buy it and read it is the simple answer.
Full reviews by Dr. Iain Corness of the
Pattaya Mail and Sid Silk
of the Pattaya Stephen Leather fan club will be printed
in this diary soon.
Here are diagrams
of how to get to the Panthers Training sessions at Naklua on Thursday
night at 7 o’clock in the evening and Horseshoe Point where we play
our games.
