SOMETHING
FOR EVERYONE AT THE JESTERS SPORTING PARTY NIGHT
by Mike Franklin
A fabulous night is in store at
Jameson’s Irish Pub on Saturday 15th September
for the final fund-raising event of the Jesters 10th Anniversary
‘Care for Kids’ Charity Drive year.
Corporate and individual sponsorship has exceeded all previous years,
the Jesters Children’s Fair is sold out and promises
to be the best yet, and the Jesters Sporting Party Night
is set to round off the 2007 Charity Drive in style.
A party night with something for everyone.
With all the entertainment and sport on the weekly calendar it is important
to cater for everybody on Party Night, in the same
way that the Jesters ‘Care for Kids’ Charity Drive
seeks to cover all of the needs of the underprivileged kids that we
raise funds for. The money raised on Saturday 15th September
will close the Charity Drive account for 2007
and, with your attendance and support, will result in a record total
and a record benefit year for the Kids. The Party Night kicks off in earnest at 6.30
pm with 90 minutes of entertainment fronted by Mike
Gerrard to warm everybody up, Dale will rekindle
fond memories of Elvis and star Bangkok DJs Paul Jackson &
Andy Francis are on station to segue the opening entertainment
set. Around 7.30 pm Erik Sorensenand trainer
Robert Jonasson will interrupt proceedings by their arrival
back from Trat after yet another successful marathon
cycle ride and sponsorship exceeding 500,000 baht.
Meanwhile for New Zealand sports fans, a screen in
a discreet corner will follow the traditional Maori haka and
World Cup power rugby against Portugal from Lyon.
Less discreet, however, will be multi-screen coverage of the Wales
vs. Australia match from Cardiff. No handbags on the field,
and no crash helmets or overt body armor for these guys – this
is a powerhouse physical contact sport at its best with two mega-fit
prime contending nations hammering it out in the early stages of the
2007 Rugby World Cup.
There is an opportunity to appreciate items of Welsh and Australian
memorabilia up for auction later in the evening. On display throughout,
bids will be accepted around 8.40 pm during the short
half-time break. The top ‘lot’ being the 2005 Welsh
Grand Slam jersey signed by that amazing team. And that will
be the ideal moment to come on with the bar snacks - Welsh rarebit,
Roo rolls and Outback pies. The spectacle continues until around 9.30
pm when the auctioneer’s gavel will work in earnest and
silent bids received will be revealed. Lots also include memorabilia
of Michael Schumacher, Sir Matt Busby, Arnold Palmer, and teams
Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton. Plus antiques, diamond
rings, children’s original drawings and other unique items.
The entertainment and music continues thereafter with sets from Rick
& Harpic and Pop’s Pattaya All Stars with the Grand
raffle scheduled just before 11 pm when the
winners of the motor bikes, airline tickets and packages to
Angkor Wat, River Kwai, Koh Samui and the Similan Islands will
be drawn. Not forgetting vouchers to the top Pattaya restaurants
including Bruno’s, Mata Hari, and the Manhattan Steakhouse
However, if Premier League football is your priority
other discreet corners will cover Manchester United, Chelsea,
Liverpool, Arsenal and Middlesbrough matches, to name just
some.
This is a party night for everyone to enjoy and make it memorable wind
down to a quite extraordinary Jesters 10th Anniversary
year.
Fair, World
Cups, & Party Night All Coming
Sports
action all over the next month, Premier
League of course (mind you the only time I have seen
Steve smile over the
last six months is when he sunk a 60
foot putt for the Good Guys
to beat the Bad Guys at
a Pairs Scramble at golf.
Peter Bevis make him
smile will you?). The Rugby World Cup starting
on 8th September and the
first ever 20/20 Cricket World Cup
starting on 11th September.
What more could anybody want?? Some come early to Jameson’s
and pick your seat, sit back and enjoy.
Jimmy Howard has returned and is now fully
trained up for the Rugby World Cup which starts on Saturday 8th September.
Jimmy’s training consisted mainly of drinking Kilkenny as fast
as he can, but it is still training. But when Jimmy holds court everybody
listens as you can see from the rapt looks on Johny Live, Ian (Lady
Di), John and Glynn’s faces, words of wisdom are not to be taken
lightly from Jimmy
Even the great Font of all Knowledge cannot fill the chair that usually
accommodates Big Dave
Sid Silk has always been
a straight forward man who usually likes to talk and listen a lot, but
not when he is eating, so he hangs a little sign on his ear to let everybody
know
Although at
times Jimmy Howard just gives everybody a good laugh
The wonderful Bryants
Rick and Harpic do not need anybody else to make them laugh when they
have each other. And of course a few Heinekens to keep them company
Thanks to Geoff Evans the
area around Landlord Kim Fletcher’s
DVD is still very frosty!! (Geoff will
understand) some how Simon & Debbie
managed to avoid the cameras this week. Nice to hear from Dai
Coe this week and even nice to share a beer with John
Coe. The usual suspects were into watch the rugby a large
Welsh contingent including
the newly arrived back Mike,
and also nice to have Big John
back & meet Young Jason, The Paynes
are off to Phuket, Ray Matti
is in Europe and the
Root of all Evil is back at work. Dobsy
is still safely ensconced in Nova Park,
Eoin & Shelley Quirke are looking forward to the Rugby
World Cup well Eoin
is! As is Graham Watkins, Johny Live
is still commuting back and forwards to the bar from Bangkok.
Everybody’s favorite Jameson’s
waitress Thewee is going on extended vacation to England
to see Ian, but fear not
she will be back to her slave driving Landlord
by Christmas. Terry
Schofield of No Fixed Abode, is enjoying a golfing good
time, but I think misses his old side kick
Andy. The Landlord
certainly misses Andy McTighe
as he was the only other progressive rock fan to regularly come in and
talk to Mott the Dog. See
you at the bar, Kim.
This is for Scud, after many begging texts we
agreed to take a photo of the new Heineken girl. So here it is. But if
you look very closely Scud you can see that Kid has a protective arm around
her. And the lovely young lady is advertising Bulmer’s Cider, which
we don’t actually sell in Jameson’s. Oh well
The return of Welsh Mike
Iain Corness and Car Club watching the Formula One on Sunday
The booths give you a nice little hide away in the sports area
Happiness is eating family
style at Jameson’s
Geordie Land
with, Darren, Poppy, Jack, & Jimmy. So at least we are guaranteed
to never have a quiet pub

Kim
Thank you for making me famous. I shall try to live up
to the ideals of the previous diary master.
Especially, as I now have such an exalted position.
Not only this but Steve Graham sent me a complimentary
bottle of excellent Napa Valley red when I escorted
six friends to Mata Hari on Tuesday evening. Everyone
recognised my station in life when Luigi shouted
across the restaurant. "Is Boxer Sid in the House"
Now when I meet Stephen leather I shall not feel
inferior. rather a peer of his. I may even take on a
Little moonlighting with Steve's company. Perhaps
acting as minder to one or two of his more wealthier
clients
