Of course with lots of our regular friends scattered across the globe enjoying themselves at all the events across the globe this weekend, reports came into Nova Table of what a good time everybody was having. Well they were not the only ones Nova Table rocked and rolled as ever. Simon and his lovely fiancé Debbie seemed to think that a crash course in heavy drinking was the way to prepare for the Chiang Mai Sixes, and in Simon's case like some demented grizzly bear preparing for a winter hibernation eating also seemed to be a major factor in his training scheme.

On Thursday some of us went to the excellent wine dinner at Bruno's, the food was superb, now although this was an undisputed fact. The reason why Simon ate all the canapés, then ate two courses of the salmon, three courses of the spring chicken, four courses of the Australian lamb and beef, two courses of the cheese course (these were rather small so not really worth Simon's effort) and then eight courses of the very rich chocolate mousse that followed, by grabbing all the little chocolates that come with your coffee is beyond me. One can only presume this was a special training scheme worked out by a mad trainer.

The very next day on route to Chiang Mai Simon had to stop off at Jameson's to top up with a huge dish of fish and chips. The experiment did not work as Simon's team the Silver State only made the Shield Tournament after the first round. As expected the Malaka's scrambled through to the plate, with Max dominating with the bat and Ray Matti taking all the credit as usual. If you want to keep up with the day to day events at the Chang Mai Sixes please look up the website at www.chiangmaisixes.com. At the moment it is certainly more exciting than the Cricket World Cup. We also expect the company of Simon's brother next week after the Sixes I just hope he doesn't eat quite so much as Simon, especially as we have the all you can eat Carvery at the weekend.

Back to Nova Table, a lovely weekend with lots of nice visitors, big Mike, the return of Geoff Evans he of the always good nature. Our Deputy, Junior Assistant, Trainee Manager Ian (Lady Di) Harrington has been working double / treble overtime as the Landlord took a couple of days of to recuperate from his ridicules life style. Of course Lady Di has been given more than a little help from our roving Ambassador and regular computer expert Mark Stubbs. It was nice to see Jack Levy so cheerful and happy. Dr. Iain Corness has been his usual busy self, and Johnnie Live has been whizzing up and down from Pattaya and Bangkok.

Showing off the new Heineken promo bags are Moo & Bob, drink a mere 20 pints of Heineken and one of these wonderful bags could be yours!!

Rony Fineman had a party for 100 people to show off his latest new venture the Mayfair Residence, the party was catered by Jameson's and of course with a combination of Rony's hosting and Jameson's catering organized by Wanchai, Chef Vinai, and the wonderful Moo, it was one of the most successful social events of the year.

Rony’s Party at Mayfair Residence on Monday 2nd April
The Root of All Evil Malcolm Clare has been around all weekend creating his usual chaos, in fact on Friday night the combination of The Root of All Evil and Jon Fox the owner of the world famous Q cars Friday quickly descended into complete chaos, especially with Leeds United Football Team on the box. Talking of football after the Tottenham Hotspur game against the Mighty Reading it is very clear to all who are in the know that as soon as Steve gets across to Thailand he should immediately sign up Pattaya's lead striker Jake Bryant who I have heard if left with the ball in front of the goal with nobody in the way at least four times a game will put at least three of them on target.
Rodney Bain made one of his always enjoyable visitations to the pub, as good humored as ever, naturally Rodney bought several dozen Jameson's glasses to take with him to remind him of his favorite bar whenever he is away. The Font of All Knowledge managed to get into the pub on Saturday night after Pattaya had been plunged into darkness for half the night by a power cut fortunately Jameson's avoided all such power cuts another touch of luck.
The guys have been propping up the bar as usual discussing all matters, Graham, Welsh Graham, Mike Watkins (who's generosity knows no bounds when it comes to the Jesters Charity Drive). Fortunately we are also in contact with Mike Axford again this year so this years auction could be the biggest one we have ever held yet. We will be having anew form of auction this year. Each item will be put on display at the Jesters fair, with a pre bid book with it so people can bid there and then not just on the night. After the fair all items will be put on display in Jameson's so that more bids can be put in any time during the week, then Graham MacDonald will start off the bidding on the night of the pub night at the highest bid, this will cut the time of the bidding down dramatically.
Lively discussion around the bar this week with Sam Peebles, Motorbike Shaun, Paul, Jason, Nui, and Leo, Fatboy, Graham, Terry Schofield of North Shore Real Estate, Joules , Dennis, and Lek, Rob and Wit ( Late on parade .) a super slim Blowfly. Eoin and Shelley Quirke, always a joy to see walk through the door. Steve Ponter, Stephen Leather and Alistair Cummings, Big Ron, Aussie Supporters David and Darren, a big hello to Linus, Lisa Lurve, Scud, and David Foden, Mark Winslade of Hawkwind fame who has left behind his 12th man CD. Happy birthday to Mike Franklin from the 1st of April. Peter Mewes was in making good use of the pool table whilst George and Budgie made good use of Budgie's window. Sid Silk has kept the table amused with more fun stories. Darren has popped over to Dubai leaving Chris, Jenny, and Poppy to look after the little one. The Brown Family hit us on mass the dreaded Maurice, Mum, Daughter, a Grand Daughter and Steve and Ian.

Fat Landlord Kim Fletcher & the Unquenchable Niel

Andrew of the Unquenchables with our roving Ambassador

Wednesday turned into a great day with the arrival of Jimmy and Jennie Howard, Glynn from Hong Kong, Jimmy (Mike), Geoff Evans with his usual entourage, including Tommy and Aoi with a few Fletchers and Aoi and Nat, Geordie Chris with Jenny, Neil and Andy from the Unquenchables acting as the advance party for the real thing later in the year Stuart and Moo left the bar with two Heineken bags whilst Dennis, and Ian left with one apiece, Johnnie Live went mad again, whilst Furniture Simon took it all well. Debbie text messages to excuse Simon's efforts on the cricket field in Chaing Mai, whilst Rich Wibrow tried to fathom out how he only scored one run per three balls whilst he took more wickets per balls than runs.
Enough from me for a week. See you at the bar, Kim.
