Diary No. 122 Week of 28th May 2007 - 3rd June 2007 Updated 7th June 2007

Please contact Mr. Kim or Reception at Nova Park ........

Roll up Roll Up. This weekend we have Rugby, Cricket and Signing up for the Pattaya Mail Mike Franklin Charity Golf Tournament.
Last week was great fun at Jameson's, with everybody entering into the spirit of things. Landlord Kim Fletcher had his case book full trying to keep track of events. Adding the extra dimension of recording stuff from the telly that is not on at a suitable time for viewing, has really given us new goals to achieve. So if any of your favourite sporting events are on at a time you cannot watch it just contact us at Jameson's and we will record it for you.
Like last weekend there is a full sporting program as you can see by our sports schedule below. But Friday sees the 2nd day for the Cricket test match between England and The West Indies (with no rain interruptions this might not go into a 3rd day one way or another). Friday night also sees the first Roll Up for sign up's for the magnificent Pattaya Mail Mike Franklin Charity Golf Tournament from 5.00 p.m. till 8.00 p.m. Even if you have already signed up it's always fun to come along and have a few beers with your friends and discuss in quite frank terms how your four balls is going to win the tournament. For further details look no further than the details on this page or the direct link right here.

Saturday is of course another marathon Rugby day starting at 2.30 with France vs. New Zealand, to be followed by two more games, please look up our schedule for further details. Next weeks sees the start of the real action with the start of the Tri- Nations.
Sunday (well really Monday) at midnight sees the Canadian Grand Prix get under way. Jameson's will be staying open until the end of the race. With Iain Corness rallying the troops from his special perch in the sports room of Jameson's.

If Peter of Peter and Bo read this will he please e-mail me as I have lost his e-mail address? If Geoff Evans reads this or any one that knows him please tell him that there are a lot of people very grateful for all the wonderful DVD's he left behind they are been shared around the occupants of Nova Table.
I have decided from now on to put most of my writing in conjunction with the photos on the diary as they seem to have more relevance this way. Although of course I will still have to write about future events, like when the Bad Guys beat the Good Guys at golf or the predictions for next years relegation battle? So if you actually want to be in the diary try and get your mug in the photos when they are being taken.

The Bad Guys Landlord Kim Fletcher, Captain Simon Philbrook vs. The winning team of the Good Guys Steve & Peter (only because of Steve’s miraculous 110 fit Putt on the 18th)

As you can see by this picture it is a wonder that we got all of Landlord Kim Fletcher’s Putts in during the 18 hole scramble

Landlord Kim Fletcher shows Sid Silk one of his more common Stephen Leather books, which has not only been signed but even inscribed with a little message. Sid was very unimpressed as he now has three unsigned Stephen Leather book's in his possession. Sid this week recommends Stephen's book 'The Eyewitness' which Sid reckons to be one of Stephen's finest. If you wish to join the Stephen Leather fan and book club please contact Sid Silk at Nova Table Jameson's The Irish Pub for further details

The Wilkies in Party mode. Well I suppose that is nothing new as they are always in party mode, in fact I cannot remember which party this one was I think it was the man himself's birthday as he is wearing a T-Shirt with Nancy, Jenny, and Lisa on it. But then Vic normally has one of his girls draped all over him, even when Nancy is not draped all over Landlord Kim Fletcher

The Keeley family Ron, James and the lovely Waew, enjoying a drink at Nova Table with old mucker Jason Payne, watched by Lola in the background. Ron had been in to jazz up the Jameson's website which should make it quicker and faster, just like James is becoming everyday

Jason Payne and Ron Keeley share a hug after their many Odyssey's here in Thailand

Captain Steve Ponter, who is looking very likely even before the half way stage of the year to have taken top place in Jameson's Man of the year award standing's. Steve is always delightful company, and the Johnnie Walker Black bottles always cower at the back of their shelves when he walks in. But this year he has excelled himself in his tireless work for the Jesters Charity Drive. Here he can be seen modeling a Jesters Charity Drive Shirt, whilst at the same time holding a Black and Coke

The lovely Bo with the latest pair of new shoes hidden under the table sitting talking to the Roving Ambassador Mark Stubbs (therefore a weekday as Mark is here during the week whilst Ian (Lady Di) Harrington is now only here at the weekend's it's sort of like a swap arrangement). There is some Danish bloke obviously more interested in the telly behind them

John Pollard one of Jameson’s stalwart customers, famous for his sailing exploits around the world having his photo taken here with one of the Pattaya Panthers new recruits for their youth policy

Stuart the Builder having a laugh with Steve notice that Steve still has the glass of Black label safely nuzzled in his hand

Ah the trials and tribulations that Ian Harrington (Lady Di) our Executive, Deputy, Junior, Trainee, Assistant Manager will go through to keep others happy. Here is a picture of Lewis (Woody) Underwood, The Chairman of the Jesters Charity Drive, and the President of the Jesters M.C. (all the details of the Jesters Charity Drive with the Fair at Diana Driving Range and Resort on Sunday 9th September with the Pub Night at good old Jameson's on Saturday 15th September with all it's auctions and raffles, plus loads of entertainment) handing over a very special T-Shirt to the Jameson's Roving Ambassador, Computer expert and Trainee, Trainee Deputy, Assistant, Junior Manager Mark Stubbs. Now if you notice Mark's surname is Stubbs and this is a Stubbs Harley David son T-Shirt hence the relevance of the T-Shirt. This T-Shirt could tell its own story as it has been through many hands to get here since Darren Rose bought it in Stubbs. But that story will have to wait for another day, as Lady Di seems to have been busy at work and too confused to give me the proper trail. You would of thought though that as the T-Shirt was anything to do with Lady I it would of been Pink! Have you also noticed what long titles people in Pattaya have?

A very very happy Roving Ambassador Mark Stubbs with his Stubbs T-Shirt

One last word on future events. Next Sunday 17th June we will be having one of our Sunday afternoon bashes. With all events starting at 2.00 p.m. with Pop's Pattaya All Stars playing what will be the first of three acoustics sets during the afternoon. This will be interspersed with shows from our good friend Dr. Magic. There will of course be a nice play room for the children (well actually the library area) with cartoons, painting competitions, and lots of different games, plus a free kiddie’s buffet and free pop drinks for the kids as well. Those of you that have been to these vents before will know what fun they are, and those of you that have not been before, should check it out. Kim.

The Vic Wilkie Birthday Bash, this was supposed to be a before photo, so that we could take a photo afterwards to see what a mess everything had become. Unfortunately we all excelled ourselves more than is even normally acceptable at Jameson's. So you will just have to use your imagination for what happened afterwards

What is a Birthday without a Birthday Cake? We spent hours trying to fit 57 candles on Vic's cake, put in the end we decided he would not have enough puff anyway so took mercy on him

Matt’s crowd enjoyed them selves on Saturday Night

Nova Table with Jason Payne, Sid Silk, (thinking up his next role as a Steel manufacturer in the next Stephen Leather book) Johnnie Live, and perched on the end of his seat Kim Fletcher

George and Budge masters of the Pool hall at Jameson's Budgie also have a magic window in Jameson's which he uses for the birds!

Jerry, Graham MacDonald 'The Font of All Knowledge' and Sid Silk on Nova Table on Saturday preparing for the marathon rugby session of three Rugby games. Plus a couple of drinks

This is why he is called the Root of All Evil here we capture the out in full cry as he is either deriding the Rugby teams or demanding that the Landlord catch's up with his drinks in front of him sitting around the table are Sid, Kim, The Root, David and Gavin (both from the Southern Hemisphere so more than happy), Terry Schofield of North Shore Real Estate and Lady Di

The photo you all wanted to see Lindsay, and Kim McTighe with Debbie Lightley from Saturday night

Steve & Ian

Andy & Steve

The lovely Nancy Wilkie draped over the not so lovely Landlord Kim Fletcher, at least to everyone's relief Nancy did not try and take the Landlord's clothes off

There are quite a few Jameson's regular customers who will be more than a little disappointed if New Zealand do not win the World Cup of Rugby later on this year

Malcolm Clare 'The Root of All Evil' models the back of this year Jesters Charity Drive T-Shirts, which shows the destination of the Pub night to be Jameson's. Now The Root of All Evil there is one title that will never be not used in Jameson's

It must be the weekend as here sitting at the Nova Table is Ian Harrington (Lady Di) trying desperately to keep up with the flow of drinks in front of him, just over his shoulder is Johnnie live, then Jason Payne and then Debbie Lightley and that men amongst men Simon Philbrook, obviously by this time the supporters of Northern hemisphere Rugby were not bothering to watch the Rugby at all

Terry Schofield, of North Shore Real Estate, Simon Philbrook and Graham MacDonald 'The Font of All Knowledge’. I have no idea what Terry and Graham have done to Simon, nor do I want to know

Jason Payne unconditionally surrenders on Saturday night. It takes a man to know when to give up, and Jason knew it was time to run if only he had known how

There is only so much you can take from these Australians and South Africans until drastic action has to be taken, and enough was enough. The action of gagging these two was probably the most popular thing the landlord has done in years

GOLF NEWS

Dear Golfers,

Another week has passed and more sponsors have joined to support Pattaya Mail’s inaugural tournament. I am keen to complete the field and do hope that the locally organized Groups and Venues will be represented in this charity golf tournament to mark the Pattaya Mail’s 15th Anniversary
Page 7 of the current issue of Pattaya Mail features the latest sponsors to come on board, with many that are new to supporting charity golf on the Eastern Seaboard.
There are only 2 holes still available for sponsorship at 10,000 baht, the latest sponsor being Raimon Land, adding to their support as a Gold sponsor.
The tournament details and entry form are attached, but to help you sign-up or confirm your booking, I will be at Jameson’s this Friday 8th June to take entries between 5pm and 8pm, or later.
Join me there for a snack and a beer, get the latest reports in Pattaya Mail, and hear more about the Awards Party program at the Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort after the tournament on June 29th.
Many thanks & regards,

Mike Franklin

Friday 29th June 2007 at Eastern Star

Organized by Pattaya Mail Media Group, Pinnacle Jomtien Resort & Spa & Eastern Star Golf Club

Pattaya Mail is nearing its 15th Anniversary and, after many years of widely reporting local golf tournaments, is confirming its commitment to golf by announcing the inaugural Pattaya Mail ‘Mike Franklin’ Classic charity golf tournament to be staged at Eastern Star Country Club & Resort, on Friday 29th June 2007.

The proceeds raised will be shared by six beneficiaries:
Rotary Foundation’s work with children
Jesters ‘Care for Kids’ Water Purification project
Scholarships to Pattaya Schools via Diana Group Foundation
Ban Dorntupab Pattana Primary School
Pattaya Young PR Ambassador Program
Camillian Aids center – Cindy Burbridge project

The proceeds as they are committed and spent on the six beneficiary projects will be reported in Pattaya Mail, and on Pattaya Mail TV.

The tournament will receive extensive Press & TV media coverage in Pattaya Mail, Pattaya Blatt, & Chiangmai Mail; on Sophon cable and the Pattaya Mail Television (PMTV) cable network covering Chonburi, Pattaya, Jomtien & Sattahip. The POV Media Group, Bangkok, is providing 150 framed A3 poster display sites in prime Bangkok locations, and press conferences are scheduled for Thursday June 7th at the Chaophya Park Hotel, Bangkok, and at the Pinnacle Jomtien Resort & Spa on Thursday June 14th.
The Tournament and Award ceremony will be covered by Pattaya Mail Television and a DVD of the televised feature will be given to the sponsors.

The golf tournament will feature two shotgun starts at 06.45am and 12.30pm, playing a Four-ball Team Scramble format. Both shotgun starts will be limited to 25 teams of 4 players. Tournament scoring will be by ‘System 36’ that calculates team handicaps on the day, based on performance.
As individual player handicaps are not a requirement for entry, the tournament is open to all golfers. Entry is 10,000 baht/Team or 2,500 individual
There will be performance trophies for the winning teams, and technical prizes to be won on every hole. A perpetual trophy will be kept at Pattaya Mail and inscribed with the names of the Champion team. The Award ceremony, BBQ buffet dinner & entertainment will take place at sunset by the beach at the Pinnacle Jomtien Resort & Spa.
