Diary No. 280 Week of 23rd August 2010 - 29th August 2010 Updated 2nd September 2010

With less than a month to go we are all rushing around making the final preparations for the Big Day 'The Fair' The Jesters Care4Kids Charity Drive Fair will be held on Sunday 12th September at 10.00 a.m. As ever being held at the good old Diana Driving Range and Resort. It really is one of the highlights of the year. There are masses of shows and stalls for young and old to enjoy, Beer Tents, Rick and Harpic's Pop's Cool Zone, International and National Food Stalls, Beer Tents with all be being sold at 50 Baht a can, and as they have all been donated by generous benefactors you can drink merrily away knowing that by drinking MORE beer you are doing more good. There is a wonderful Kids Raffle organized by the Pattaya Sports Club, Jameson's Book Stall, Beer Tents, A fantastic Trampoline Display, Live Bands from Kids Marching Bands to Leo's Blues Factory Rock 'n' Roll, Beer Tents, Four Winds Special Tent, World of Wines, The British Legion has a tent with Jameson's run by Bert Of Tropical Bert's with his side kick Derek, Beer Tents, an appearance from Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Evans, the site of Judi Macnamara working shoulder to shoulder with Terry Schofield and Debbie from Nicky's and Deborah from Pattaya Cricket Club and MBMG with Moo and the Jameson's girls all in their summer frocks, running the Jameson's Used Book Stall. Now on the subject of the Book Stall. The Stall is actually called the Jameson's Used Book Stall so therefore we need your old books to sell on the stall. Now please everybody it's a wonderful way to make money, as you give us the books, we sort them out and display them, you then come along for a beer and a browse with us, buy some books, and then we give all the money to the Care4Kids Charity Drive. All profit no cost, but for this to work we need all your books, so please if you have any spare books please bring them into Jameson's so we can get them all sorted out. Now did I mention the Beer Stalls at the Fair, there is of course a stall from one of the Platinum Sponsors The World of Wine run by none other then Ron Keeley, so if anybody fancy's a nice glass of wine you know where to go. Of course there are also Beer Tents. Good Food at Rich Man Poor Man Tent, Indian Food, all the International Schools have Game Tents as well for those of you feeling energetic or of course you can sit with us in the collection of 12 Jameson's Stalls and drink beer from the Beer Tents. There are also Magicians, Stilt Walkers, Fashion Shops, Bike Shops, and of course a few Jesters Beer Tents.
The following week is celebration time with the Jesters Care4Kids Party Night at Jameson's, with all the good times that go with that the climax to the Grand Raffle, The Auction Night, which is always good fun. Plus the opportunity to catch up with old friends. Plus of course the chance for a few beers.

Blaggers becomes Jaggers

The Diary is a place to let people know about what is happening in Pattaya and particularly about Jameson's and the Nova Group. Well I have thought hard and long about what I should tell you about the new Luncheon Club for Gentleman formed by Simon Philbrook last Sunday. (Voted for and now called the JAGGERS to say it was a Mighty event). Mark Gorda "Mr. Jackalope", Head Chef Vinai of Jameson's excelled himself. I doubt there has ever been a better Typically British Sunday Luncheon in Thailand (a big and ambitious claim I know, but I feel justified). The Full Menu is to be found on this diary. The food was fresh and tasty, but most importantly just kept on coming. The organization was superb from Captain Confident Simon Philbrook with a crowd of 24 guests when those guests included Bjorne of Cafe Kronberg, Flemming the Executive Chef of the Dusit Thani Dubai, Ray Matti, Captain of the Jameson's Football Team Brian Abbott, Professor Jerry Stewart, The Man himself The Root of All Evil Malcolm Clare, Mark Gorda, Captain Jesters Steve Ponter, Main man Des Halls, The Bouncer Doug the Dog Man, The man himself Dai Coe Dolly the Star of Cricket fields and Bollywood, Paul Strachan star of Pattaya Mail T.V, Nick Freeman, Pattaya Cricket Club's Leg Spinner and Coach Leon, Terry Schofield, you have quite an audacious Guest List.

The Quiz was a Hoot. Incredibly won by the Dai Coe Team which included Doug the Dog Man and the Landlord. Although there were some extraordinary names for the actors in the Great Escape including Ilyia Kyriakin, Some German, Hudson the Butler, Charles Bronson, and the other one from the Dirty Dozen, "The Goalkeeper chap from Rocky" Sylvester Stallone (wrong film, wrong actor, wrong era, but we managed to get Simon to give us half a point for spelling his name right). The wine went down by the Bucket load, and the intermiadory course of an Orange Sorbet with a straight shot of Grand Marnier was a stroke of sheer genius. Roger, Ae and Wanchai led the staff with speed and efficiency.
Things got very exciting afterwards when Dr. Iain arrived for the Formula One Grand Prix from Belgium as poor Iain had to talk us through almost every bend, to be honest the later Football was all a bit of a Blur.
A wonderful Luncheon one which I hope will become a regular three Monthly Event on Sunday's at Jameson's.
The books have now started to come in for our Jameson's Bookstall at the Fair on Sunday 12th September at the Diana Driving Range and Resort, but we still need more Ian Harrington came in with a pile of books, and their have been a lot of Anonymous donations for which we are truly grateful, but a huge donation of books and good stuff came in from Simon Quigley (the band's harmonica player) last Saturday. This has become a regular event for which we are truly grateful but extra special mention must go to Joe Worthington for extreme generosity, and the Mighty John Moffat and all at the extraordinarily named C'ANT-S' Group. (Something to do with accounts I'm assured). More books please we are still in desperate striates this year. It would seem that people read less. I must confess to the crime myself as I spend so much time on the Internet (Well Mafia Wars actually).
Looking forward to my old Mucker and Mott the Hoople mate Colin Powell arriving with his friends, Sean Houghton will also be strolling through the doors soon. The Root of All Evil Malcolm has slipped back to Kenya, Paul Dobbs is expected back in soon once he has come back over Everest.
I personally fear for my favorite sport Cricket, how will it recover? I seriously do not believe the all the Culprits come from Asia, just how widespread can this whole episode be???? What does one do with all the records for the past few decades, who can believe what? Sad days indeed.

On a personnel note here is a great picture of my English Family. The man taking the photo that you can see reflecting in everybody's eyes is Julian Powis who is banished from Jameson's due to being a better Chef than the Landlord. You can see with these genes why the Landlord can be a bit strange at times.
